Crossley Hospital East

Crossley Hospital West, founded in 1905 as the Liverpool Sanatorium, was a tuberculosis sanatorium situated on the outer edge of Delamere Forest in Cheshire. It closed in the 1960s and has since been demolished.

Kingsley Castle, also known as Castle Cob, a medieval motte near Kingsley, Cheshire, England. (grid reference SJ53387341) It is listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The motte is a cone shaped mound, 2.8 metres (9.2 ft) high; it has a diameter of 23 metres (75 ft) at the base and tapers to 6 metres (20 ft) at the top. It is artificial and made from black soil.Historians used to think that the motte was a large barrow. The stone steps and concrete foundations of a summerhouse not contemporary with the castle are excluded from the protection of the scheduling. There have been limited excavations on the site by antiquarians.

Manley Knoll is a small country house north of the village of Manley, Cheshire, England. It was designed in 1912 for Llewellyn Jones. Its construction was interrupted by the First World War. In 1922 the interior was remodelled for the Demetriades family by the Manchester architect James Henry Sellers. In the 1920s a billiard room was added. The house is constructed in buff-brown brick with orange brick dressings, and some timber framing and roughcast. The roofs are tiled. Its architectural style has been described as Arts and Crafts, or eclectic Vernacular Revival. It has an irregular linear plan. The entrance front is asymmetrical, in two storeys, with an off-centre porch. To the left of the porch is a timber-framed projection, and to the right is a staircase bay and a service bay. In the garden front are four timber-framed gables with a central loggia over which is a balcony. Each of the gables is decorated with different Cheshire patterns. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.Manley Knoll is situated adjacent to another small country house called Manley Wood, which was built in 2001 on the former site of Sunnybank Farm. The two sites used to be one, with a road leading between, but this road is now unusable.

Black Lake is a nature reserve in Delamere Forest, Cheshire, England. It lies in the southwestern corner of the forest, just south of the Manchester–Chester railway. It is managed by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust (CWT) on behalf of the Forestry Commission, and as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is monitored by Natural England.The site is designated as an SSSI because "it represents a very early stage of a Schwingmoor type basin fen and occurs in association with dystrophic open water." A Schwingmoor or quaking bog occurs when plants such as Sphagnum mosses and cotton grass Eriophorum sp. colonise the surface of a waterbody and form a floating mat of vegetation; at Black Lake the Sphagnum raft covers around half the lake surface. The SSSI (which includes the surrounding catchment area) covers an area of 1.74 hectares (4.3 acres); the CWT reserve is 0.40 hectares (0.99 acres) in area.The site is also noted for its uncommon dragonflies, which formerly included the white-faced darter (Leucorrhinia dubia).

Austerson Old Hall is 1 mile (1.6 km) southeast of the village of Alvanley, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. The hall was dismantled and moved from its original site in the village of Austerson near Nantwich, Cheshire, in the early 1980s.The hall is constructed in timber-framing and brick, and has a tiled roof. It consists of a hall with a cross-wing. The hall dates probably from the 17th century, and the cross-wing probably from the previous century. Both parts contain close studding.

Mouldsworth is a village and civil parish on the outskirts of Chester in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is about 8 miles north east of Chester city centre on the B5393 road and lies within the Cheshire green belt area. The nearest villages are Manley to the north west and Ashton Hayes to the south west. Delamere Forest is situated 2 miles to the east of the village and is within easy walking distance. At the 2001 Census the population was recorded at 302, increasing slightly to 327 at the 2011 Census.Mouldsworth railway station is on the Mid-Cheshire Line, a non-electrified line with diesel locomotive services between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly. There is a public house called the Goshawk, formerly the Station Hotel, in the centre of the village opposite the station. There are references to the Station Hotel and its bowling green with magnificent views as far back as 1891. There is also a unisex hairdressers, called Whistles, located in the railway's old ticket office. Sights include the former Mouldsworth Motor Museum. This was founded in 1971 and was housed in a 1930s Art Deco building, formerly a water-softening plant. The museum closed in 2013.Mouldsworth is west of Delamere Forest, in what is known as the Mouldsworth Gap, a break in the Mid Cheshire Ridge, which runs north–south through the centre of Cheshire. This region originated at the end of the last ice age, when glacial meltwaters formed a vast lake in the West Cheshire basin which burst through the sandstone ridge, and deposited large amounts of sand and gravel across an extensive outwash fan on the eastern side of the ridge.

St John the Evangelist's Church is in Hollow Lane, Kingsley, Cheshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Frodsham, the archdeaconry of Chester, and the diocese of Chester. Its benefice is united with those of Christ Church, Crowton, and St John the Evangelist, Norley. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It was a Commissioners' church, having received a grant towards its construction from the Church Building Commission.

Manley is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester (formerly Vale Royal) and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, in the north west of England. Manley had a quarry which claimed to produce white building stone of the same quality as that used to build Eaton Hall and Chester Castle. When the railway came through the quarry was connected to it via a rail siding close to Manley Station - which was one of the shortest lived passenger stations, opening on 22 June 1870 and closing for passengers on 1 May 1875, though it remained open for goods traffic. The quarry sidings closed around 1910, though the track remained in use for freight traffic until 1991. The population at the 2011 census was 614.The television writer and novelist Cyril Abraham, who created the popular BBC drama The Onedin Line, lived in Manley until his death.

Mouldsworth railway station opened on 22 June 1870 and serves the village of Mouldsworth in Cheshire, England. It is managed by Northern Trains. The station has two platforms and is on the Mid Cheshire Line, with hourly train services to Manchester Piccadilly and Chester.

The Church of St Cuthbert by the Forest is in the village of Mouldsworth, Cheshire, England. It is an active Roman Catholic church in the diocese of Shrewsbury. Its parish is combined with that of St Thomas Becket, Tarporley. The church, designed by Liverpool architect F. X. Velarde, is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. The small church is distinguished by its characteristic detached campanile.

Woodhouse hill fort is an Iron Age hillfort between Frodsham and Helsby in Cheshire, England. It lies at the northern end of the Mid Cheshire Ridge. Woodhouse Hill has steep cliffs on the western sides, providing a natural defence. It is defended by a rampart to the north and east where the ground slopes more gently. Excavations in 1951 showed that the rampart was originally 4m high and revetted with stone on both sides. A number of small rounded stones, believed to be slingstones, have been found on the site. The hill fort is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.The hill has a summit of 137m AOD. The fort site and the surrounding areas form a part of within Snidley Moor Wood much of which is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust.

Bradley hill fort is an Iron Age hill fort. Hill forts were fortified hill-tops, used as settlements or temporary refuges, constructed across Britain during the Iron Age. It is the smallest of the seven hill forts in the county of Cheshire in northern England. It is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
