The Fourth Battle of the Isonzo was fought between the armies of Kingdom of Italy and those of Austria-Hungary on the Italian Front in World War I, between 10 November and 2 December 1915.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 807 and an area of 10.6 square kilometres (4.1 sq mi).

Sabotin (Italian: Sabotino, Friulian: Mont di San Valantin) is 609-metre-high (1,998 ft) mountain ridge overlooking Gorizia, Nova Gorica, and Solkan on the border between Slovenia and Italy. At its foot stands the Solkan Bridge spanning the Soča River.

The Soča (pronounced [ˈsoːtʃa] in Slovene) or Isonzo (pronounced [iˈzontso] in Italian; other names Friulian: Lusinç, German: Sontig, Latin: Aesontius or Isontius) is a 138-kilometre (86 mi) long river that flows through western Slovenia (96 kilometres or 60 miles) and northeastern Italy (43 kilometres or 27 miles).An Alpine river in character, its source lies in the Trenta Valley in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, at an elevation of 876 metres (2,874 ft). The river runs past the towns of Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Kanal ob Soči, Nova Gorica (where it is crossed by the Solkan Bridge), and Gorizia, entering the Adriatic Sea close to the town of Monfalcone. It has a nival-pluvial regime in its upper course and pluvial-nival in its lower course.Prior to the First World War, the river ran parallel to the border between Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. During World War I, it was the scene of bitter fighting between the two countries, culminating in the Battle of Caporetto in 1917.

Zagomila (pronounced [zaɡɔˈmiːla]) is a small settlement in the Municipality of Kanal ob Soči in western Slovenia. Until 2007, the area was part of the settlement of Plave. The settlement is part of the traditional region of the Slovenian Littoral and is included in the Gorizia Statistical Region.

Kojsko (pronounced [ˈkoːi̯skɔ]) is a village in the Municipality of Brda in the Littoral region of Slovenia.The parish church in the village is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the Koper Diocese. A second church belonging to this parish is built on a hill above the village and is dedicated to the Holy Cross

Snežatno (pronounced [snɛˈʒaːtnɔ]) is a settlement south of Kojsko in the Municipality of Brda in the Littoral region of Slovenia close to the border with Italy.

Mount Kuk (Italian: Monte Cucco or Monte Cucco di Plava) is 612-metre-high (2,008 ft) mountain in Slovenia, near the border with Italy. It is located northeast of Gorizia, near the village of Plave and on the southern edge of the Banjšice Plateau, and along with nearby Vodice and Sveta Gora it forms a mountain ridge along the course of the Isonzo. It was heavily contested by Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops during the battles of the Isonzo in World War I, and was located in Italy from 1918 to 1943.
