Hollandsche Rading

Hollandsche Rading is a Dutch railway station located along the railway line Hilversum - Utrecht, near the town of Hollandsche Rading and immediately west of the A27 motorway. The station was opened on 1 June 1885.The railway station is located exactly on the border of two provinces. Platform 1, for the southbound trains (Utrecht-bound), lies in the province of Utrecht, while platform 2, for the northbound (Hilversum-bound) trains, is located in North Holland. Hollandsche Rading can be translated in Dutch to Holland Border as in North Holland going into Utrecht.

Maartensdijk is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of De Bilt, and lies about 4 km north of Bilthoven.

The Persijn Estate (Persijn landgoed) in Maartensdijk is an estate with a white villa just west of the A27 motorway. The estate dates from 1781 and was originally designed as an early English landscape garden. In the 19th century it was renewed in the late landscape style with two tree-lined avenues and the introduction of exotic plants. The pedagogy center OPL has established her headquarters here and also houses three living units for maladjusted youth. The villa and the gardener's house are Rijksmonuments.

The estate Zonnestraal is a former sanatorium in Hilversum, the Netherlands. The building was designed by architects Jan Duiker Bernard Bijvoet and Jan Gerko Wiebenga, and is an example of the Nieuwe Bouwen. In 1995, the estate was submitted to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites, but it was ultimately not listed.Hubert-Jan Henket (Bierman Henket Architecten) and Wessel de Jonge Architecten were awarded the 2010 World Monuments Fund/ Knoll Modernism Prize for their restoration of the Zonnestraal Sanatorium.Deitrich Neumann, from the Department of History of Art and Architecture, Brown University, Providence, one of the members of the jury, stated "this careful restoration does full justice to the subtleties of the original building, its particular handling of light, and the seeming weightlessness of its composition. In this project, practical conservation and thorough scholarship reinforced each other in finding the best approach to the preservation of one of modern architecture’s most important buildings."

Achterwetering is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of De Bilt, and lies about 4 km northwest of Bilthoven. It was first mentioned in 1696 as De Achter Weteringe, and means behind the polder canal. Achterwetering is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Maartensdijk. It does not have place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 121 people. Nowadays, it consists of about 30 houses.

Wijdemeren (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʋɛidəˈmeːrə(n)] (listen)) is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland, on the western border of the Gooi region. Wijdemeren contains many lakes. In the north(east) Spiegelplas and Ankeveense Plassen, in the (south)west Loosdrechtse Plassen. Wijdemeren was established as a merger of 's-Graveland, Loosdrecht, and Nederhorst den Berg on 1 January 2002. The former municipality of Loosdrecht belonged to the province of Utrecht.

Hilversum Sportpark is a railway station in Hilversum, Netherlands. It lies 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) south of Hilversum town centre. The station was opened in 1874 and is on the Hilversum - Utrecht railway line. The station was previously called Amersfoortsche Straatweg (1874-1919), and Soestdijker Straatweg (1919-1965). The station is heavily used during weekdays because an important branch of the ROC (a community college) is located next to the station.

Restaurant De Kastanjehof is a hotel-restaurant in Lage Vuursche, in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in both 1990 and 1991.In the period 2000-2002 the restaurant was awarded a Bib Gourmand.At the time of the Michelin stars, head chef was Wulf Engel. In 1991, he sold the restaurant to his, by then, ex-wife Marianne and left the restaurant. As a consequences, the restaurant lost its Michelin star.Hotel-restaurant De Kastanjehof is a member of "Relais Restaurants".Originally, De Kastanjehof was owned by the family Bleuland van Oordt. In 1985, they sold the hotel-restaurant to Wulf and Marianne Engel, who managed to earn a Michelin star. Due to divorce, Wulf sold his part in the company to his wife Marianne, who shortly after that sold the place to Hein van Oosterom. Steady base in the kitchen was chef Jan Schipper, who worked here from 1967 to 2008. After Jan Schipper retired, Bruno Vittali took over.

Lage Vuursche (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlaːɣə ˈvyːrsə]) is a village in the municipality of Baarn in the Netherlands. It lies about 5 km west of Soest, surrounded by woods, in the province of Utrecht. In 2001 the village of Lage Vuursche had 139 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.04 km², and contained 61 residences. The slightly larger statistical district of Lage Vuursche has about 210 inhabitants.Until 1857 the village was a separate municipality, under the name De Vuursche, together with the small hamlet Hoge Vuursche. It then merged with the municipality of Baarn. The castle Drakensteyn, since February 2014 residence again of Princess Beatrix, is situated just east of the village. Her son Prince Friso is buried in the graveyard beside the moated manor. Apart from the royal family the most famous person from Lage Vuursche is athlete Fanny Blankers-Koen, four times gold medalist in the 1948 Summer Olympics.

Drakensteyn Castle (Dutch: Drakensteyn, sometimes Drakesteijn or Drakestein) is a small castle at 8 Slotlaan in the hamlet of Lage Vuursche, in the municipality of Baarn, Netherlands. It is the private residence of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, the country's former Queen. The royal connection aside, its most distinctive feature is its octagonal shape. It is surrounded by a moat that can be crossed via a bridge. Its style can be described as Classicist.
