Bilthoven

Bilthoven is a railway station located in Bilthoven, Netherlands. The station is located on the Utrecht–Kampen railway between Utrecht and Amersfoort, and was opened on 20 August 1863. The current island platform was opened in 1907. The station was previously called De Bilt (1863-1918).

De Bilt (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈbɪlt] (listen)) is a municipality and town in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands. It had a population of 42,824 in 2019. De Bilt houses the headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). It is the ancestral home and namesake for the prominent Vanderbilt family of the United States.

Maartensdijk is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of De Bilt, and lies about 4 km north of Bilthoven.

The Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (Dutch: Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut, pronounced [ˈkoːnɪŋklək ˈneːdərlɑnts ˌmeːteːoːroːˈloːɣis ˌɪnstiˈtyt]; KNMI) is the Dutch national weather forecasting service, which has its headquarters in De Bilt, in the province of Utrecht, central Netherlands. The primary tasks of KNMI are weather forecasting, monitoring of climate changes and monitoring seismic activity. KNMI is also the national research and information centre for climate, climate change and seismology.

Nieuwe-Wetering is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of De Bilt, and lies about 3 km northwest of Bilthoven. It was first mentioned in 1846 as Nieuwe-Wetering (de), and means the new polder canal. Nieuwe-Wetering is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Groenekan. Nieuwe-Wetering has put up its own place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 65 people. Nowadays, it consists of about 20 houses.

Bosch en Duin is a village in Zeist municipality, in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The village is north of the town of Zeist, and borders Huis ter Heide to the east and Den Dolder to the north. The village is entirely made up of estates surrounded by forest. With 70%, Bosch en Duin has the highest percentage of houses worth more than 1 million euros of any town in the Netherlands, and also the highest average house price of all towns in the country.The estate De Horst in Bosch en Duin, designed by architect Karel de Bazel, is now a protected landmark. Dutch journalist Willem Oltmans grew up here.

The University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU; Dutch: Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht) is the main hospital of the city of Utrecht, Netherlands. It is affiliated with the Utrecht University. Since the foundation of the university in 1636 an academic hospital has existed in various forms. Nowadays the UMC Utrecht comprises the academic hospital, the faculty of Medicine as well as the Wilhelmina Children's hospital. In total approximately 10,000 people work at the UMCU including medical staff, nursing staff, residents, support personnel and researchers, making it one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands.

Den Dolder is a railway station located in Den Dolder, Netherlands. The station is located on the Utrecht–Kampen railway (Utrecht-Amersfoort-Zwolle) and the Den Dolder–Baarn railway. It was opened in 1895. The current island platform was opened in 1914. This station was previously called Dolderscheweg (1895-1912).

The Persijn Estate (Persijn landgoed) in Maartensdijk is an estate with a white villa just west of the A27 motorway. The estate dates from 1781 and was originally designed as an early English landscape garden. In the 19th century it was renewed in the late landscape style with two tree-lined avenues and the introduction of exotic plants. The pedagogy center OPL has established her headquarters here and also houses three living units for maladjusted youth. The villa and the gardener's house are Rijksmonuments.

Den Dolder is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Zeist, and lies about 4 km northeast of Bilthoven. Den Dolder has a railway station on the route between Amersfoort and Utrecht and is best known for its mental institutions such as Dennendal and the Willem Arntz Hoeve. Den Dolder also houses the big Dutch sauce manufacturer Remia referring to Den Dolder as Holland's Heart of Sauces as is depicted on the factory's side and is visible from the train passing by.

The Utrecht University Botanic Gardens have consisted of two locations since 1987: the main Botanical Garden Fort Hoofddijk (52.0883°N 5.1725°E / 52.0883; 5.1725 (Fort Hoofddijk Botanical Garden)) in Uithof, Utrecht, and the Von Gimborn Arboretum (52.0325°N 5.3093°E / 52.0325; 5.3093 (Von Gimborn Arboretum)) in nearby Doorn. Both locations are open to the public.
