Muskegon Community College

Muskegon Charter Township is a charter township of Muskegon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 17,596 at the 2020 census. The city of Muskegon borders the township to the southwest and is administratively autonomous. The township was organized in 1837. The township claims to be the "oldest township in the State of Michigan", as it was the first township officially recognized in the newly created state of Michigan. However, many other townships were created earlier than Muskegon Township.

WUGM-LP (106.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Rhythmic Oldies format, along with specialized Electronic dance music-based programming on the weekends. Licensed to Muskegon, Michigan, United States, the station is currently owned by West Michigan Community Help Network.

West Shoreline Correctional Facility (MTF) was a Michigan prison, located in Muskegon Heights, for adult male prisoners. It permanently closed on March 24, 2018, and has since been torn down.

Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility (LRF) is a Michigan prison, located in Muskegon, for adult male prisoners.

Muskegon Correctional Facility (MCF) is a prison of the Michigan Department of Corrections located in Muskegon, Michigan. The prison opened in 1974. Additional housing units opened since then to accommodate more prisoners.In 2010 the state of Michigan shut the prison down for two weeks to prepare for an arrival of prisoners from Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania had a contract with Michigan to house state prisoners in MCF, in order to alleviate overcrowding in the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. Over 1,100 Pennsylvania prisoners were housed at MCF. The John S. Hausman of the Muskegon Chronicle said that the Pennsylvania contract was expected to be about four or five years long.After the opening of additional state prisons in Pennsylvania was imminent, Pennsylvania withdrew its prisoners from MCF in 2011. Beginning in late April 2011, one group of about 240 prisoners was moved out of MCF each week. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, was the final day of operations, and the final "ride-out" of 239 Pennsylvania prisoners occurred on that day.After the 2011 shutdown, 200 job positions ended. Most employees of MCF accepted vacant positions in the prison system or took jobs that were held by other prison system employees with less seniority.The facility reopened in October 2012.

The Muskegon Central Fire Station is a building originally constructed to house a fire station, located at 75 W. Walton Avenue in Muskegon, Michigan. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The building has been renovated into office space, and is known as the Firehouse Professional Building.

The Muskegon River ( mə-SKEE-gən) is a river in the western portion of the lower peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. The river source is located at Houghton Lake in Roscommon County, flowing out of the North Bay into neighboring Missaukee County. The river passes through Clare County, Osceola County, Mecosta County, Newaygo County, and Muskegon County, and generally flows southwesterly to its mouth at Muskegon, Michigan, where it empties into Muskegon Lake. Muskegon Lake is connected to Lake Michigan via a mile-long channel. The river has several major branches, such as the Hersey River, Cedar Creek and Little Muskegon River. The primary river channel is 216 miles (348 km) long and drains an area of 2,350 square miles (6,100 km2). In September 2002, an article in National Geographic raised concerns about a controversial deal made with Nestlé Waters North America, giving them permission "to bottle up to 210 million gallons (about 800 million liters) a year from an aquifer north of Grand Rapids, Michigan that recharges the Muskegon River".

Situated around a harbor of Lake Michigan, Muskegon is known for fishing, sailing regattas, and pleasure boating, and as a commercial- and cruise-ship port. It is a popular vacation destination because of the expansive freshwater beaches, historic architecture, and public art collection. It is the most populous city along Lake Michigan's eastern shore. At the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 38,318. The city is administratively autonomous from adjacent Muskegon Township. Muskegon is the center of the Muskegon metropolitan statistical area, which is coextensive with Muskegon County and had a population of 175,824 as of the 2020 census. It is also part of the larger Grand Rapids-Kentwood-Muskegon-combined statistical area with a population of 1,423,632.

Unity Christian Music Festival (Unity) is a four-day Christian music festival held annually during the month of August at Heritage Landing in Muskegon, Michigan.Unity was started in 2001 to bring Christians together for public praise, worship and fellowship; to provide a wholesome, family valued entertainment alternative and to raise funds and recruit volunteers for area Christian ministries. The Festival is presented by Alive on the Lakeshore, an all volunteer group of local Christians who want to present wholesome, Christ centered, family valued entertainment options in West Michigan. Each year, 700 volunteers are part of the festival. The festival is a member of the Christian Festival Association.Average per day attendance ranges from 9,000 on Thursday to over 20,000 on Saturday. Artists who have played at Unity include Relient K, Hawk Nelson, Anointed, Steven Curtis Chapman, Geoff Moore, Petra, Chris Rice, Phil Keaggy, Mark Schultz, Jars of Clay, tobyMac, The Newsboys, 4th Point, Chris Tomlin and Michael W. Smith. In the past, Unity's parent organization Alive on the Lakeshore presented a smaller festival called Rock the Coast at Michigan's Adventure amusement park.The 20th festival was deferred to 2021 as officials blamed the COVID-19 pandemic as grounds for 2020's cancellation.

Muskegon High School is a public high school located in Muskegon, Michigan, and was the first high school in Muskegon County, Michigan.

Marsh Field is a baseball field in Muskegon, Michigan, United States. The field has been home to many professional teams in the past, and is now used as part of developmental baseball leagues. Some notable teams to call Marsh Field home include the Muskegon Clippers, a now defunct farm team of the New York Yankees, the Muskegon Belles, an All-American Girls Professional Baseball League team for the 1953 season, the Muskegon Lassies, an AAGPBL team that played at Marsh Field from 1946–1950, and the Outwin Zephyrs, a Negro league baseball team. Currently, Marsh Field is used by the Muskegon Clippers (no relation to the previous farm team), a wooden bat college level team, the Muskegon City League, the Muskegon Big Reds baseball team, and is used as part of the Extra Innings Muskegon Fall Baseball league. Frank Barnes, a major league catcher, played two seasons of minor league baseball at Marsh Field. He later played in Major League Baseball for the Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals. He and Elston Howard were the first ever African-American players signed by the Yankees. Howard played one season at Marsh Field.

The Muskegon YMCA Building is a YMCA building located at 297 West Clay Avenue in Muskegon, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It has been renovated, and currently houses 297 Clay Condominiums.
