The Emerging Pathogens Institute (EPI) is an interdisciplinary research institution associated with the University of Florida. The institute focuses on fusing key disciplines to develop outreach, education, and research capabilities designed to preserve the region's health and economy, as well as to prevent or contain new and re-emerging diseases. Researchers within the institute work in more than 30 different countries around the world, with over 250 affiliated faculty members stemming from 11 University of Florida colleges, centers, and institutes. The 90,000-square-foot building includes laboratories and collaborative space for bioinformatics and mathematical modeling.

The University of Florida Health Science Center (HSC), also known as the J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center, is the medical division of the University of Florida. Its primary campuses are located on the university's main campus in Gainesville, Florida and at UF Health at Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida. The Health Science Center comprises six colleges: Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine. The Gainesville campus is the only academic health center in the United States with six health-related colleges located on a single, contiguous campus.In 2018 the Health Science Center generated over $410 Million in total research awards, and also collected over $22 Million in licensing and royalties The HSC is affiliated with UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville and UF Health Jacksonville. As of 2019 the Health Science Center enrolls 7,010 students within the six HSC academic colleges. In addition the HSC employs over 2,400 Faculty Members, over 24,000 staff members, and over 1,200 fellows and residents.

Lake Alice is a small lake on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, United States. The lake is a wildlife area and is one of the few areas in incorporated Gainesville where one may view live alligators. The lake also harbors a population of Florida softshell turtles. The university's bat house is near the lake. The Baughman Center sits on the southwest bank of the lake. On Lake Alice's northern side, there is a boardwalk that leads visitors through the woods and swamp to a viewing platform. The people of the Alachua culture who built a burial mound near the College of Law on University of Florida’s campus (the "Law School Mound") c 1000 AD are believed to have lived along the shore of Lake Alice.How Lake Alice obtained its name is uncertain. Prior to the 1890s, Lake Alice was known as "Jonah's Pond" but by 1894, US Geological Surveys noted it as Lake Alice. A Master's thesis written in 1953 makes the unreferenced claim that it was named for the only daughter of a Mr. Witt, who owned a farm of which the lake was a part.In the late 1960s, the University of Florida administration and the Florida Department of Transportation planned to drain portions of the lake and construct a cross-campus throughway and 2,000-car parking lot along its shore. Environmental activist Marjorie Harris Carr, along with University of Florida professors John Kaufmann and Joe Little, led a successful opposition movement that eventually defeated the plan.In 1988 the University of Florida administration sought to develop the shoreline of Lake Alice with luxury student housing, eliminating the student gardens as well as the bat house in the process. After eleven years of organized protest against the development and a petition opposing it signed by more than 8,000 students, faculty, and other citizens, the proposal was halted on December 8, 1998, when Lawton Chiles, in one of his last acts as governor before his unexpected death three days later, moved at a meeting of the Florida Cabinet to preserve the shoreline, and the motion passed unanimously.In October 2017, an adult one-eyed alligator was photographed facing Museum Road near the shore.

Hume Hall, built in 2002, is the Honors Residential College of the University of Florida, located on the western side of the university's Gainesville, Florida campus.The current structure is the second at the university to bear the name. The original Hume Hall was designed by Guy Fulton and built on the same site in 1958 as a conventional dormitory. It was demolished in 2000 to allow for construction of the current facility. The University of Florida Honors Program offers housing for freshmen at Hume Hall. This residentially-based academic community consists of two residence halls that integrate the housing needs of Honors residents with facilities, staff, and programs in support of the Honors Program. Hume Hall can be accommodate 608 residents, and is located in the heart of the University of Florida campus. The facility has a commons building, a number of multimedia-capable classrooms, faculty offices with an on-site academic advisors, a large activity room, and an information desk.Hume Hall is named for Harold Hume, dean of the College of Agriculture, provost, and interim president of the university.

The Malachowsky Hall for Data Science & Information Technology, or simply Malachowsky Hall, is a building on the University of Florida (UF) campus. Named after UF alumnus and Nvidia co-founder Chris Malachowsky, the building began construction in 2020 and opened in November 2023. It houses spaces for several of the university's colleges and departments including the College of Engineering, the College of Pharmacy, and College of Medicine, as well as the Informatics Institute, part of UF Research.

The University of Florida College of Medicine is the medical school of the University of Florida. It is part of the J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center, with facilities in Gainesville and Jacksonville, Florida. The school grants Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Medicine-Doctor of Philosophy (M.D.-Ph.D.), and Physician Assistant (P.A.) degrees to its graduates. Its primary teaching hospital is UF Health Shands Hospital with which the school shares a campus in Gainesville.

The Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute (MBI) at the University of Florida (UF) is a comprehensive and diverse neuroscience research center that houses the UF College of Medicine’s four “neuro” departments: neuroscience, neurology, neurosurgery and psychiatry. The MBI is one of the nation’s most comprehensive and technologically advanced centers devoted to discovering how the normal brain operates, and how we can repair the brain following injury, disease or aging. The MBI connects and supports over 200 faculty from all 16 UF colleges with research focus areas that include brain cancer; breathing research and therapeutics; chronic neurological diseases (such as Parkinson’s, dystonia, ALS and Alzheimer’s); cognitive aging; mental health, neurobehavioral sciences and psychiatry; and traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. The MBI was the first of the four McKnight Brain Institutes across the U.S., named in honor of a gift from the McKnight Brain Research Foundation. Dr. Todd Golde is the current executive director of the MBI. Former executive directors include founding director Dr. William Luttge, Dr. Douglas Anderson, Dr. Dennis A. Steindler and Dr. Tetsuo Ashizawa.

The J. Wayne Reitz Union is the student union of the University of Florida, located on Museum Road on the university campus in Gainesville, Florida, United States. The union was named in honor of J. Wayne Reitz, the fifth president of the university, who served from 1955 to 1967. The building, which was originally completed in 1967, contains dining facilities, meeting rooms, offices, a computer lab, a game room, an outdoor amphitheater, retail stores, a movie theater and a hotel. East of the Reitz Union is the Constans Theatre, a performing arts venue. Although the two buildings are connected, the Constans Theatre is not managed by the union.

Liberty Pond (historically Green Pond) is a body of water on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. The pond is named in honor of students and alumni of the university who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The pond has a veterans' memorial on its north shore and acts as a venue for memorial ceremonies held by local veterans' organizations.Liberty Pond is overlooked by the J. Wayne Reitz Union, the student union of the University of Florida. The lake is a landmark on campus and has occasionally been included in social media marketing for the university and associated organizations.Liberty Pond is over 100-years old and is likely a sinkhole lake. The pond is home to various species of alligators, birds (ranging from finches to hawks), and small mammals such as armadillos.The pond was known as Green Pond until 2013, when the university board of trustees officially renamed the lake. In 2022, the US Board on Geographic Names officially recognized the name change after efforts by a student of the university. The name was additionally recognized by local, regional, and state officials.

UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital is an academic cancer center in Gainesville, Florida. The 200 bed complex focuses on producing basic laboratory findings that will ultimately be used for preventive therapies for cancers.

The Constans Theatre is a performing arts venue located on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida.

Riker Hall built in 1950 is a historic building on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the United States. It was designed by Guy Fulton in a modified Collegiate Gothic style to provide housing for the student body. Known as South Hall for the first five decades of existence, it was named for Harold C. Riker in 2000.
