Prospect Hill (Long Green, Maryland)

Long Green is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. Until 1958, the community was served by the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad at milepost 15.8. Prospect Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.Long Green was once home to an Amish community. The Amish community in Long Green was founded in 1833 and lasted for 120 years, before disappearing in the 1950s. The community was founded by Lancaster County Amish, but few settlers moved to the area because Maryland was a slave state at the time. Few Amish people crossed the Mason–Dixon line, due to the Amish opposition to slavery. An Amish meetinghouse was constructed in 1899, but the community never grew large. The community dwindled in size over time, with the last Amish person dying in 1953. One of the oldest buildings in Long Green is the Wilson United Methodist Church, built in 1892 in the Gothic Revival style. A previous Methodist meeting house was built in 1839 on land donated by George Wilson, for whom the present church is named. In 1787, noted Methodist leader Francis Asbury preached in the Long Green farmhouse of Wilson's great-uncle. The church's cemetery dates back to the 1850s.

Ravenshurst, or Ravenhurst, was a historic home located at Glen Arm, Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It was a 2+1⁄2-story Carpenter Gothic-style board-and batten house built about 1854–1857. It was an addition to an earlier stone building thought to have been built about 1800. The home burned on October 31, 1985. Ravenshurst was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Hydes is named for Samuel N. Hyde, an agronomist who developed a strain known as "Egyptian" sweet corn, canned by the F.B. Jenkins canning operation of Hydes.

It is an approximately 6,066-acre (24.55 km2) rural agricultural area to the northeast of the city of Baltimore. The valley has a distinct physical unity created by gently rolling fields dotted with crossroads villages such as Glen Arm, Baldwin, and Hydes and farm complexes. Its architecture covers the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries and reflect major architectural styles popular in the United States from the Neoclassical of the 18th century to the Georgian Revival of the pre 1935 period.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Glen Arm is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. Glen Arm lies along what is now Glen Arm Road, which was once part of Old Harford Road, one of the early routes used for conveying agricultural products from parts of Harford and Baltimore Counties and southern Pennsylvania to the port of Baltimore. Glen Arm was also served until 1958 by the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad (the "Ma & Pa"). In 1921, at the railroad's crossing of Glen Arm Road, what generally is recognized as the nation's first train-actuated railroad crossing signal was installed by the railroad's Superintendent of Signals Charles Adler, Jr. Adler later designed early traffic-actuated traffic lights for the City of Baltimore, and also invented the system of flashing warning lights used on aircraft.

Hidden Valley Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Baldwin, Harford County, Maryland, United States. It consists of a mid-19th century vernacular Greek Revival brick farmhouse with several auxiliary structures. The house is a three-story, rectangular brick dwelling with a gable roof, with a two-story wing. The house features square-columned one-story porches across the façade and both sides of the wing. Also on the property are a mid-19th century barn, summer kitchen, and smokehouse, and later wood shed and garage.Hidden Valley Farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Loch Raven Reservoir is a reservoir that provides drinking water for the City of Baltimore and most of Baltimore County, Maryland. It is fed by the Big Gunpowder Falls river, and has a capacity of 23 billion US gallons (87,000,000 m3) of water.Originally built in 1881 as a dam and water tunnel to channel water to Lake Montebello and Lake Clifton, a new dam, creating a modern large reservoir lake, was constructed in 1914 in efforts to increase the municipal water supply, submerging the cotton mill town of Warren. In 1923, the dam was elevated from 51 to 117 feet (16 to 36 m), and was viewed by many as a step towards the re-vitalization of Baltimore after the Great Fire of 1904. Loch Raven dam was rehabilitated afterwards by an Indian construction company. In addition to providing potable drinking water to Baltimore City and Baltimore County, the lake serves as a park and recreational area for the public to enjoy.

The Eagle's Nest is a historic home located at Phoenix, Baltimore County, Maryland. It is a large fieldstone dwelling begun, it is believed, in the 1690s and completed in 1802 on part of a 2500-acre tract named "The Valley of Jehosaphat" by Richard Smith, Jr., who was granted the land by Lord Baltimore in 1684 in recognition of Smith's service as the first attorney general of Maryland. Smith's descendants owned the tract until Walter Dulany bought half of it in the 1720s and the other half about 20 years later.

Long Island Farm is a historic farmstead at 2200 Cromwell Bridge Road in Parkville, Maryland. The main house is a rambling multi-part building whose oldest part is said to date to 1764, when Isaac Risteau purchased the property. The main eastern block of the house is built of stone and is five bays wide, but shows evidence that it once consisted of several separate sections that were built separately and then combined. The western block is a modern 20th century addition. The farmstead was associated with the Risteau and Jenifer families for over two centuries.Long Island Farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.
