Bos en Lommer (English: Wood and Shade) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. From 1990 to 2010 it was considered a district of the municipality of Amsterdam in the province of North Holland. As of May 1, 2010, it was merged into the new Amsterdam-West borough. Geographically the district lies west of the historical city center of Amsterdam. On the north side it is bordered by the Haarlemmerweg and Westerpark, and on its south side it is bordered by the Jan van Galenstraat. The eastern areas of the districts is known for hosting the 'Centrale Markthallen'.

Kolenkit District (Dutch: Kolenkitbuurt) is a neighbourhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 2009 Eberhard van der Laan, the Minister of Housing, referred to the neighborhood as the worst in his "40 problem neighbourhoods" list.Since 2009, major improvements have been made to the neighborhood, by demolishing apartments blocks which were too small and not built to the current standard, and replacing them with newly built, more spacious housing. This program will continue to run until (at least) 2021.Link Cascoland, a small international network of artists, architects and designers formed by Dutch community artists Fiona Bell and Roel Schoenmakers, won a tender to start a process of empowerment in the Kolenkitbuurt. Since 2010 they organised playful activities and created a labyrinth of fences and four mobile hen houses which served as a meeting place, helping residents to initiate and manage their own projects in an urban revival process.

Teleport is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands in the urban district of Westpoort. Teleport was founded in the eighties of the twentieth century as an office location with the designation of "Telematics." Therefore, it has specific facilities in that area. The neighborhood has connections by road through the A10 motorway, railway lines, buses and underground (the Amsterdam Sloterdijk railway station). The borders of the neighborhood are to the West the Seineweg, to the North The Basisweg, to the East the A10 motorway and to the South the N200 highway (the Haarlemmerweg). At this moment around 20,000 are working in the area; in the future it would be around 35,000. The city of Amsterdam has made plans to realize this by designing a new tram and bus station at the Carrascoplein. Other plans include a large plaza around the train station and the development of other types of centers such as schools, cultural and sports facilities, hotels and shops. The street names in the area are derived mostly from international airports around the world: Orlyplein, Naritaweg, Kimpoweg. The office buildings Millennium Tower, Crystal Tower, La Guardia Plaza and the building of the Belastingdienst (Tax and Customs Administration) are among the highest buildings in the city of Amsterdam.

Isolatorweg metro station is the terminus of the Amsterdam metro 50 (Ringlijn) and opened on 28 May 1997. From 3 March 2019 this is also the terminus of the Amsterdam metro 51. The station is a railway embankment near the Isolatorweg on an industrial estate close to an electric generating station in the western harbour area of Amsterdam. Since there are no nearby residential areas, the station attracts relatively few visitors. The station has an island platform in the middle of a central access. Isolatorweg is the third metro station in Amsterdam that does not have an escalator. The station takes its name from the Isolatorweg street, which itself refers to the electrical isolator. Other street names in the area include Generatorstraat, Elektronstraat, and Magneetstraat.

De Vlugtlaan is a metro station on Line 50 and Line 51 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Between 1986 and 2000, Amsterdam De Vlugtlaan railway station was in use on the railway running parallel next to the metro line.

Amsterdam Sloterdijk is a major railway junction to the west of Amsterdam Centraal station. It is at a rail-rail crossing, with an additional chord (Hemboog). It is on the railway line from Amsterdam Centraal to Haarlem and the last station before the junction where the line Amsterdam Centraal-Zaandam diverges from it and on the crossing west branch of the Amsterdam-Schiphol railway line between Schiphol and Amsterdam Centraal. The Hemboog chord connects the crossing lines, providing a direct connection between Schiphol and Zaandam. There are platforms at both crossing lines and at the Hemboog; for the latter there is a separate entrance on another side of the station square. There are two lines of the Amsterdam Metro that stop here.

Admiralenbuurt (Dutch pronunciation: [ɑtmiˈraːlənˌbyrt]) or Mecatorbuurt (Dutch pronunciation: [mɛrˈkaːtɔrˌbyrt]) is a neighbourhood of the West borough of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was constructed in the 1920s. The neighbourhood is bisected by the Admiralengracht. From 1990-2010, it was part of the borough of De Baarsjes; in 2010, it became part of the borough of Amsterdam-West along with the rest of De Baarsjes.

VVA/Spartaan are a Dutch amateur football club from the Amsterdam borough of Amsterdam-West in the neighborhood Bos en Lommer, founded in 1901. The club hold both a Saturday and a Sunday team, with both competing in the Derde Klasse.

Millennium Tower is a 97.5 metres (320 ft), 24 storey office building in Amsterdam constructed from 2002 and completed in 2004.

Waterwijk (also: Gemeente Waterleiding Terrain) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands built on the site of the Amsterdam municipal waterworks on the corner of Haarlemmerweg and Van Hallstraat in Amsterdam-West. In this neighborhood, an ecodistrict has been implemented. In the 6-hectare neighborhood, cars may only access the parking areas for the apartment buildings from the streets that form the edges of the neighborhood; all of the inner areas of the neighborhood are car-free.

Het 4e Gymnasium (English: The 4th Gymnasium. The official name contains a Dutch article, thus abandoning the need of using one in the English translation.) is a Public Gymnasium (Grammar School or Secondary School) in the Netherlands founded in 2005. Since October 2008 the school is located in the "Houthaven" area in Amsterdam. The school is well known for its unusual subjects Film and Astronomy, respectively presented as Audiovisueel and Sterrenkunde.
