Machine Gun Corps Memorial

The New Zealand War Memorial in London is a memorial to the war dead of New Zealand in the First and Second World Wars, unveiled in 2006. Officially named "Southern Stand", the memorial was designed by architect John Hardwick-Smith and sculptor Paul Dibble, both from New Zealand. It is located on the Piccadilly side of Hyde Park Corner, northeast of the Wellington Arch, and is diagonally opposite the Australian War Memorial. The traffic island also houses an Equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington, the Machine Gun Corps Memorial and the Royal Artillery Memorial.

Hyde Park Corner is between Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Mayfair in London, England. It primarily refers to its major road junction at the southeastern corner of Hyde Park, that was designed by Decimus Burton. Six streets converge at the junction: Park Lane (from the north), Piccadilly (northeast), Constitution Hill (southeast), Grosvenor Place (south), Grosvenor Crescent (southwest) and Knightsbridge (west). Hyde Park Corner tube station served by the Piccadilly line has many accessways around the junction as do its notable monuments. Immediately to the north of the junction is Apsley House, the home of the first Duke of Wellington; several monuments to the Duke stand in the vicinity, some installed during his lifetime, and others subsequently.

145 Piccadilly was a large terraced townhouse on Piccadilly in the London district of Mayfair that was built in the late 18th century. It was the residence of Hamar Bass in the late 19th century and home to the Duke and Duchess of York (subsequently King George VI and Queen Elizabeth) and two young daughters, Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, from 1926 to 1936. It was badly damaged in an air raid in 1940 and demolished in 1959.

InterContinental London Park Lane is a luxury five-star hotel in London, England operated by the InterContinental Hotels Group. It is located at 1 Hamilton Place on Hyde Park Corner with Park Lane, close to the shopping center of Knightsbridge and Piccadilly.

The Wellington Arch, also known as the Constitution Arch or (originally) as the Green Park Arch, is a Grade I-listed triumphal arch by Decimus Burton that forms a centrepiece of Hyde Park Corner in central London, between corners of Hyde Park and Green Park; it stands on a large traffic island with crossings for pedestrian access. From its construction (1826–1830) the arch stood in a different location nearby; it was moved to its current site in 1882–1883. It originally supported a colossal equestrian statue of the 1st Duke of Wellington by the sculptor Matthew Cotes Wyatt, acquiring its name as a result. Peace descending on the Quadriga of War by sculptor Adrian Jones, a bronze quadriga (an ancient four-horse chariot) ridden by the Goddess of Victory Nike, has surmounted the arch since 1912.

An equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington stands on the north side of Hyde Park Corner, London. The open space in which it stands, now the centre of a large roundabout, was once called Wellington Place.

Apsley House is the London townhouse of the Dukes of Wellington. It stands alone at Hyde Park Corner, on the south-east corner of Hyde Park, facing south towards the busy traffic roundabout in the centre of which stands the Wellington Arch. It is a Grade I listed building. Designed by Robert Adam in the neoclassical style, the house was built for Lord Aplsey in the 1770s. It came into the hands of the 1st Duke of Wellington in 1817, and was sometimes referred to as Number One, London. It is perhaps the only preserved example of an English aristocratic townhouse from its period. The house is also called the Wellington Museum, its official designation under a 1947 Act of Parliament. It is now run by English Heritage and is open to the public as a museum and art gallery, exhibiting the Wellington Collection, a large collection of paintings, other artworks and memorabilia of the career of the 1st Duke. The 9th Duke of Wellington retains the use of part of the buildings. The practice has been to maintain the rooms as far as possible in the original style and decor of the 1st Duke.

Napoleon as Mars the Peacemaker is a colossal heroic nude statue by the Italian artist Antonio Canova, of Napoleon I of France in the guise of the Roman god Mars. He holds a gilded Nike or Victory standing on an orb in his right hand and a staff in his left. It was produced between 1802 and 1806 and stands 3.45 metres to the raised left hand. Once on display in the Louvre in Paris, it was purchased from Louis XVIII in 1816 by the British government, which granted it to the Duke of Wellington. It is now on display in Robert Adam's stairwell at the Duke's London residence, Apsley House.

Hamilton Place, City of Westminster is a side street off Piccadilly close to Hyde Park Corner, London. Hamilton Place is a short street (about 400 feet (120 m) long) and the first street east of Park Lane. It is one of the most prestigious streets in London with three five star hotels: the London Intercontinental Hotel at no. 1, the London Hilton at no. 22. and the Four Seasons at Hamilton Place. The Les Ambassadeurs Club casino and club is located at No. 5 in a house built by Thomas Leverton and remodelled in the Venetian Renaissance style with Louis XV and fin de siecle interior decoration for Leopold de Rothschild.Its name derived from the Hamilton family who had a residence there. During the Interregnum, buildings were erected for the first time between Hyde Park Corner and what is now Old Regent Street. After the Restoration they were leased from the Crown by James Hamilton (died 1673) a courtier during the reign of Charles II who held the position of Hyde Park Ranger. The lease was renewed for a period of 99 years by Elizabeth his widow in 1692.

London Street Commune was a hippy movement formed during the 1960s. It aimed to highlight concerns about rising levels of homelessness and to house the hundreds of hippies sleeping in parks and derelict buildings in central London.The commune famously squatted a mansion at 144 Piccadilly on Hyde Park Corner, which became a media sensation. The group was quickly evicted in a high-profile Metropolitan Police operation and other squatting attempts were also rebuffed. One of the leaders of the commune who often spoke to the media was known as 'Dr. John.' He was actually Phil Cohen, who later became an urban ethnographer and emeritus professor at the University of East London.

Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane is a luxury 5-star hotel in London, England. It is located near Hyde Park corner in central London. It was built in 1970 as the Inn on the Park London. Until 2007 the hotel was owned by Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's Kingdom Hotel Investments. Then the royal family of Bahrain, Al Khalifa, bought it for £100m.The hotel was reopened in 2010 after an extensive two year redevelopment costing an estimated £125 million. The work included a new floor, Italian restaurant Amaranto, and an interior redesign by Pierre-Yves Rochon.

4 Hamilton Place is a Grade II listed building in Mayfair, London. It is used as a conference centre and wedding venue, located on the north-east edge of Hyde Park Corner, with the nearest access being Hyde Park Corner Underground station. Since 1939 it has been the headquarters of the Royal Aeronautical Society. The venue is also part of the Westminster Collection, a selection of Westminster's finest venues.
