Bigouden

Pont-l'Abbé (French pronunciation: [pɔ̃ labe]; Breton: Pont-'n-Abad, "Abbot's bridge") is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. The self-styled capital of Pays Bigouden (roughly the region between the river Odet and the Bay of Audierne), Pont-l'Abbé was founded in the 14th century by a monk of Loctudy who built the first bridge across the river estuary, hence the name. The same monk also built the first castle.

The canton of Pont-l'Abbé is an administrative division of the Finistère department, northwestern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. The Parc botanique de Cornouaille (4 hectares) is a botanical garden located in Kerlever, Combrit, Finistère, Brittany, France. It is open daily in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The garden was established by Jean-Pierre Gueguen in 1981. Today it contains about 3500 plant varieties, with good collections of camellias (550 varieties), rhododendrons (400), magnolias (85), azaleas (80), and hortensias (60). Plantings of interest include Acer trautvetteri, Camellia caudata, Cleyera japonica, Corylus jacquemontii, Distylium racemosum, Embothrium coccineum, Enkianthus perulatus, Magnolia rostrata, and Rhododendron campylocarpum, as well as an aquatic garden (7,000 square metres or 75,300 square feet). The park also contains a mineral museum displaying 1200 specimens from the Armorican Massif and elsewhere.

Loctudy (French pronunciation: [lɔktydi]; Breton: Loktudi) is a fishing port and seaside resort in Brittany, France, at the mouth of the Pont-l'Abbé river estuary. The commune is in the Finistère department in northwestern France. Situated on the peninsula of Penmarc'h in the far southwestern part of Lower Brittany, it preserves elements of old Breton culture, and the Breton language is still in use. The name means "place or hermitage of St Tudy". There is controversy concerning the identity of the saint: both Tudy of Landevennec and Tudwal have been suggested. The eleventh-century church is dedicated to St Tudy. The port grew because of its sheltered position protected from the prevailing southwest winds. The fishing port is important (2004-6: around 7000 tonnes per annum landed), and specializes in langoustines, called "demoiselles de Loctudy". The four ports of the Penmarc'h peninsula (Guilvinec, Saint Guénolé Penmarc'h, Loctudy and Lesconil) land 40 000 tonnes per year and constitute the largest fishery in France. A marina was constructed in 1991 and had (2006) 661 moorings. Loctudy is twinned with the towns of Fishguard in Pembrokeshire, Wales and Ribadeo in Galicia, Spain.

Plomeur (French pronunciation: [plɔmœʁ]; Breton: Ploveur) is a commune in the Bigouden region of Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. Plomeur is situated between the larger communes of Penmarc'h to the South-West, Guilvinec and Treffiagat to the South, as well as Pont-l'Abbé to the East. The beaches on the Baie d'Audierne are shared with the community of Tréguennec to the north and Pors-Carn (part of the commune of Penmarc'h) to the south. The beach is divided by the Pointe de la Torche, a promontory and rocky granite outcropping as well as a prehistoric settlement and burial site registered as a historic monument.
