The David A. Johnston Cascades Volcano Observatory (CVO) is a volcano observatory in the US that monitors volcanoes in the northern Cascade Range. It was established in the summer of 1980, after the eruption of Mount St. Helens. The observatory is named for United States Geological Survey (USGS) volcanologist David A. Johnston, who was swept away in the Mount St. Helens eruption on the morning of May 18, 1980. The observatory's current territory covers Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. The Cascade Range's extent includes northern California, and Cascade volcanoes in that state, such as Mount Shasta and Lassen Peak, previously fell under the CVO's jurisdiction. However, these volcanoes now fall under the jurisdiction of the California Volcano Observatory (CalVO), formed in February 2012 and based in Menlo Park, California, which monitors and researches volcanic activity throughout California and Nevada.The Cascades Volcano Observatory is part of the USGS, a scientific agency of the United States government. It is located in Vancouver, Washington in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area.

Electric Lightwave, was originally formed in 1988, by John Warta, John Rivenburgh, Earl Kamsky and Richard Furnival. The company was formed to compete with US West and GTE in the Pacific Northwest. The company expanded to serve businesses of all sizes. As of 2017, the privately held company had annual revenues of $538 million, with approximately 823 employees company-wide.

Union High School is an American public high school in Vancouver, Washington. It is part of the Evergreen Public Schools school district. While the campus is located within the proper city limits of Vancouver, it has a Camas area zip code. The campus was completed in July 2007. Union High School's principal is Griffin Peyton. The school colors are black, silver, and red. The school's mascot is the Titan.

Mill Plain is an unincorporated area in Clark County, Washington, United States. At the 2000 census it was defined as a census-designated place (CDP) and had a population of 7,400. The area was not listed as a CDP for the 2010 census.

Mountain View High School is a public high school located in Vancouver, Washington. It was the second high school built in the Evergreen Public Schools, and one of four high schools in the area.

KPAM (860 AM) is a commercial radio station broadcasting a conservative talk radio format. Licensed to Troutdale, Oregon, it serves the Portland metropolitan area. The station is owned by the Salem Media Group, with radio studios and offices on SE Lake Road in Portland. It is branded as "860 The Answer" and carries nationally syndicated Salem Radio Network hosts including Dennis Prager, Mike Gallagher, Sebastian Gorka, Hugh Hewitt and Charlie Kirk. By day, KPAM broadcasts at 50,000 watts non-directional, the highest power permitted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). But because 860 kHz is a Canadian clear channel frequency, KPAM must reduce power to 15,000 watts at night, and use a directional antenna, to avoid interfering with CJBC Toronto, the Class A station on the frequency. The transmitter is on NE 34th Street in Vancouver, Washington.

Evergreen Field (FAA LID: 59S), also known as Evergreen Airport, was a public-use airport located five miles (8.0 km) east of the central business district of Vancouver, a city in Clark County, Washington, United States. It was located northeast of the intersection of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard & Southeast 136th Avenue.The airport was established in August 1944 after Roy C. Sugg was granted a permit by the Clark County planning commission for an airport on Mill Plain Road "seven miles east of Vancouver". Sugg sold the airport to Wally Olson in 1945.Since 1964 it was home to the Northwest Antique Airplane Club (NWAAC) and the Evergreen Fly-In. A residential airpark was established adjacent to the airport in April 1968. In 1997, a four-year legal battle ended allowing the Evergreen North-South Airpark to continue operation after Evergreen's closure. After Olson's death in July 1997, his family continued to operate the airport until closing it in July 2006. The property was reportedly being sold for $15 million to a developer, but the $215 million redevelopment deal fell through in 2007.

Government Island is a 1,760-acre (710 ha) island in the Columbia River north of Portland, in Multnomah County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. Though Interstate 205 passes over it on the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge, access to the island is only by boat. There is a city controlled locked gate in the fence surrounding the freeway. The Government Island State Recreation Area includes 15 miles of shoreline, with two docks on the northern side of the island. The interior of the island is accessible only by permit and contains protected natural areas, such as Jewit Lake. Camping is permitted below the vegetation line around the perimeter of the island. Picnic tables and restrooms can be found in these areas as well.Government Island is home to a variety of animals, notably a great blue heron colony that has been on the island for at least a decade. Many threatened or endangered wildlife species live on the island, including red-legged frog, pileated woodpecker, little willow flycatcher, olive-sided flycatcher, western meadowlark, horned grebe, red-necked grebe, bufflehead, purple martin, and possibly the endangered Columbian white-tailed deer. Government Island's first documented non-indigenous visitors were British explorer William Robert Broughton in 1792 and American explorers Lewis and Clark in 1805. The island acquired its current name after being appropriated by the U.S. military in 1850 to grow hay. An old barn and other structures can be found on the interior of the island from when it was privately owned and settled by a small number of families.Most of the island is owned by the Port of Portland. The Port acquired the entire island, along with the adjacent Lemon Island (45°35′33″N 122°34′00″W) and McGuire Island (45°33′49″N 122°27′54″W), in 1969 in order to expand nearby Portland International Airport; a competing plan from the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners proposed using the island for recreational uses instead of airport expansion. Though those plans have been abandoned, the Port continues to control the land to prevent any uses incompatible with its location under the airport's primary flight path. In 1999 the Port sold 224 acres (91 ha) of the island to Metro, a regional government agency, and leased the remainder to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for 99 years. In July 2014, three people were stabbed on Lemon Island during a party of several hundred people that was hosted there without a permit from Oregon Parks & Recreation.

Legacy High School is an alternative high school in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington. Legacy is the only alternative high school in the Evergreen Public Schools school district and has the lowest student enrollment. Legacy High School's principal is Andy Schoonover. Legacy's school colors are green and black. The school does not have an official mascot. However, unofficial mascots include Sasquatch and Llamas.
