Sultan Agung Stadium

Karta Palace (also known as, Court of Karto, Keraton Karta) was a palace built by Sultan Agung in Central Java in the early 1600s. It was located approximately due south of the current locality of Kota Gede and just west of the Plered palace built by his son, Amangkurat I. The structure was important logistically for Agung as he was asserting his separation from the paternal/family palace at Kota Gede, and it was located closer to the ocean coast, which was of significance in the relationship of Mataram rulers with the Nyai Loro Kidul. Little is known about the structure from non-Javanese sources, as few described or pictured it. The number of non-Javanese visitors was limited in number. It was known to be made in entirety in timber, and was prone to being damaged by fire.

Plered (also Pleret) was the location of the palace of Amangkurat I of Mataram (1645–1677). Amangkurat moved the capital there from the nearby Karta in 1647. During the Trunajaya rebellion, the capital was occupied and sacked by the rebels, and Amangkurat died during the retreat from the capital. His son and successor Amangkurat II later moved the capital to Kartasura. It was twice occupied by Diponegoro, during the Java War (1825–1830) between his forces and the Dutch. The Dutch assaulted the walled complex in June 1826, which was Diponegoro's first major defeat in the war. Following the Java War, the town's decline accelerated and today it is in ruins. The remains are now located in the Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, close to the banks of the Opak River, and south of Kota Gede. It has been researched for archaeological remains It is located to the east of the site of Sultan Agung's Karta Palace at Karta. It is also the location of extensive irrigation and other water works which occurred at the time of the palace being used.

The Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta (Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, ISI Yogyakarta) is a state-owned college in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It teaches visual, performing, and media arts in traditional Indonesian and modern international styles. ISI Yogyakarta was ranked number one in Indonesia on the QS World's Top Performing Arts Schools in 2022.

The 1947 Yogyakarta Dakota incident occurred when a Douglas C-47 Skytrain was carrying medical supplies to the de facto republican government of Indonesia at Yogyakarta which crashed on 29 July 1947. During the Indonesian National Revolution (1945–1949), several Indonesian nationalists, including Commodores Agustinus Adisucipto and Abdul Rahman Saleh, were tasked to deliver medical supplies from Malaya. Near the completion of the mission, as their aircraft – chartered from an Indian businessman and flown by an Australian pilot – approached the airfield at Maguwo, Yogyakarta, two Dutch Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawks flew in and shot the aircraft down over Ngoto, Bantul. Only one person survived the crash. Although the Dutch initially denied complicity, investigation showed that the Kittyhawks had caused the crash; the Dutch later made restitution to India. On 1 March 1948 a monument to remember the event was built in Ngoto. Since 1979, the Indonesian Air Force has celebrated a Service Day (Hari Bakti) in commemoration of the crash and in remembrance of the deaths.

Imogiri (ꦲꦶꦩꦒꦶꦫꦶ in Javanese script or Imagiri in standard Javanese spelling) is a royal graveyard complex in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, in south-central Java, Indonesia, as well as a subdistrict under the administration of Bantul Regency. Imogiri is a traditional resting place for the royalty of central Java, including many rulers of the Sultanate of Mataram and of the current houses of Surakarta and Yogyakarta Sultanate. The name Imagiri is derived from Sanskrit Himagiri, which means 'mountain of snow'. The latter is another name for Himalaya.

Agung Manunggal Bantul Mosque is a mosque located in Jenderal Sudirman st. no.1, Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The mosque contains unique Javanese architectural style resembling Agung Demak Mosque, with characteristics such as mustaka (roof) which resembles Joglo, four saka (pillars) which are carved teak woods, and the entrance in the shape of Gunungan (Javanese iconic Wayang shape). The mosque can be reached by using private vehicles or public transportation, namely the bus which connects Yogyakarta and Bantul. From Giwangan terminal, visitors take the bus which bounds to Bantul street then get off at the Klodran intersection. The mosque is located right in the western part of the Klodran intersection adjacent to Bantul Regency Red Cross as well as a field where functions as parking spaces during large ceremonies.

The Javanese Farmers Museum (Indonesian Museum Tani Jawa Indonesia) is a small museum located in the tourist village of Candran, in Kebon Agung, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. The museum is instrumental in the region.

Kotagede Silver Mosque (Indonesian: Masjid Perak Kotagede) (Javanese: ꦩꦱ꧀ꦗꦶꦢ꧀ꦥꦼꦫꦏ꧀ꦏꦺꦴꦠꦒꦼꦢꦼ), or as it is more widely known, Silver Mosque (Indonesian: Masjid Perak), is a historical mosque complex in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Bantul (Javanese: ꦧꦤ꧀ꦠꦸꦭ꧀; Indonesian pronunciation: [ˈbantʊl]) is a regency located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Java. The regency's population was 911,503 at the 2010 Census, but has risen to 985,770 at the 2020 Census. Like many regencies on the island of Java, it is densely populated with roughly 1,945 people per square kilometre in 2020, although this is largely because the north of the regency partly surrounds the city of Yogyakarta and contains many suburban communities, notably in the densely-populated districts of Banguntapan, Sewon and Kasihan. The regency is bordered by the city of Yogyakarta and Sleman regency to the north, the regency of Kulon Progo to the west, the Gunung Kidul Regency to the east and the Indian Ocean to the south. The town of Bantul is the administrative centre. The village of Kemusuk in the Sedayu District in the northwest of the regency is the birthplace of former Indonesian President, Suharto.

Banyusumurup is a sub-village (dusun) in Girirejo village, southeast of Imogiri in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The sub-village was acknowledged as a 'kris making' location at some stages in the 20th century.Banyusumurup is known for Banyusumurup Graveyard, part of the Imogiri Royal Graveyard complex, traditionally associated with being the 'outcast' graveyard of those who fell out of favour with rulers – in most cases in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Kotagede (Javanese: ꦏꦸꦛꦒꦼꦝꦺ Kuthagedhé) is a city district (kemantren) and a historic neighborhood in Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Kotagede contains the remains of the first capital of Mataram Sultanate, established in the 16th century. Some of the remains of the old Kotagede are remains of the palace, the royal cemetery, the royal mosque, and defensive walls and moats. Kotagede is well known internationally by its silver crafting.

Taman Sari Water Castle, also known as Taman Sari (Javanese: ꦠꦩꦤ꧀ ꦱꦫꦶ), is the site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. It is located about 2 km south within the grounds of the Kraton, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the mid-18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place.Taman Sari consisted of four distinct areas: a large artificial lake with islands and pavilions located in the west, a bathing complex in the centre, a complex of pavilions and pools in the south, and a smaller lake in the east. Today only the central bathing complex is well preserved, while the other areas have been largely occupied by the Kampung Taman settlement. Since 2017, the Historical City Centre of Yogyakarta including Taman Sari has been listed as a tentative World Heritage Site.
