Taman Sari (Yogyakarta)

The Royal Palace of Yogyakarta (Indonesian: Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, Javanese: ꦏꦿꦠꦺꦴꦤ꧀ꦔꦪꦺꦴꦒꦾꦏꦂꦠꦲꦢꦶꦤꦶꦔꦿꦠ꧀) is a palace complex in the city of Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. It is the seat of the reigning Sultan of Yogyakarta and his family. The complex is a center of Javanese culture, and contains a museum displaying royal artifacts. It is guarded by the Yogyakarta Kraton Guards (Indonesian: Prajurit Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat).

The sack of Yogyakarta took place on 20 June 1812, during British rule of Java. Under Robert Rollo Gillespie, a British expeditionary force assaulted the keraton of Yogyakarta, deposing the reigning Sultan of Yogyakarta Hamengkubuwono II after a series of disputes between the sultan and colonial rule. Tensions between the British and the Yogyakarta Sultanate arose shortly after the British takeover of Java, and despite a treaty in late 1811, both sides began preparations for war with Hamengkubuwono II preparing a military rebellion against the British. Conflict erupted in June 1812 as the British dispatched over 1,000 soldiers to Yogyakarta, which captured the keraton by storm on 20 June. Hamengkubuwono II was captured and exiled, with his son Hamengkubuwono III installed as new Sultan. British and Sepoy troops also plundered the keraton, seizing a large amount of treasure along with Javanese literary works and archives.

Kauman Great Mosque, approximate English translation of Javanese Mesjid Gedhe Kauman (officially Mesjid Gedhe Kauman Karaton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat) is a Great Mosque of the Yogyakarta Sultanate in Java, Indonesia. It is located to the west of the North Alun-alun (public square) of Yogyakarta Kraton.

The Sonobudoyo Museum (Javanese: ꦩꦸꦱꦶꦪꦸꦩ꧀ꦱꦤꦧꦸꦢꦪ, romanized: Musiyum Sanabudaya) is a Javanese history and culture museum and library in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The museum contains the most complete collection of Javanese artifacts, after the National Museum in Jakarta. In addition to ceramics of the Neolithic era and bronze sculptures from the 8th century, the museum also includes collections of wayang (shadow puppets), various ancient weapons (such as keris), and Javanese masks. The Sonobudoyo Museum consists of two units, with Unit I located at Jalan Trikora No. 6 Yogyakarta, and Unit II located at Ndalem Condrokiranan, Wijilan, to the east of main (northern) alun-alun in the city. The museum also features nightly wayang and gamelan performances on weekdays, primarily for foreign and domestic tourists.

The Greater Yogyakarta, known locally as Kartamantul (Javanese: ꦏꦂꦠꦩꦤ꧀ꦠꦸꦭ꧀, romanized: Kartamantul), an acronym of Yogyakarta–Sleman–Bantul, is a built-up area in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Although unofficial, the Greater Yogyakarta sometimes referred to as the Yogyakarta metropolitan area.

One of the districts in southeastern Yogyakarta, Kotagede, was the capital of the Mataram Sultanate between 1587 and 1613. The city's population was 388,627 at the 2010 Census, and 373,589 at the 2020 Census. Its metropolitan area was home to 4,010,436 inhabitants in 2010, which includes the city of Magelang and 65 districts across Sleman, Klaten, Bantul, Kulon Progo and Magelang Regency. Yogyakarta has one of the highest HDI (Human Development Index) in Indonesia.

The Gedung Agung (English: The Great Building) is one of six presidential palaces of Indonesia, it is located in the city of Yogyakarta. The palace complex covers an area of approximately 4.4 hectares. It is located in front of Fort Vredeburg.

Jogja National Museum (JNM) is a contemporary art museum in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. JNM has established under Yayasan Yogyakarta Seni Nusantara (YYSN) management, JNM building complex was first a Former First Indonesia Visual Art School (ASRI-1950) and Faculty of Visual Art and Design (FSRD-1984) which later became Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta.

Wirobrajan (Aksara Bali: ᬓ᭄ᬭᬢᭀᬦ᭄) is a kecamatan of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. As of 2020, it had a population of 24,739 people.

Fort Vredeburg Museum (official name: Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta) was a former colonial fortress located in the city of Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The military complex has been converted into a museum of the Indonesian independence struggle which was opened in 1992. It is located in front of Gedung Agung and near the Kraton Yogyakarta (Sultan's Palace).

Taman Pintar Yogyakarta (lit. 'Yogyakarta Smart Park'), or just Taman Pintar, is a science-themed park and museum for kids and a place for expression, appreciation, creation in a pleasant situation. It is situated on the center of the city of Yogyakarta, on Jalan Panembahan Senopati. Bringing its motto educate and pleasant, the place that was firstly built in 2004 wants to increase the intention of kids and the young generation in science through imaginations, trials, and games in order to improve the human resources. Taman Pintar also concerns in implement Ki Hajar Dewantara's lessons of Niteni (to understand), Niroake (to follow), and Nambahi (to improve).

The Siti Djirzanah Mosque (Indonesian: Masjid Siti Djirzanah) is a mosque with Chinese and Dutch architectural characteristics located in the tourist area of Jalan Malioboro, across from Beringharjo Market in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
