Karta Palace (also known as, Court of Karto, Keraton Karta) was a palace built by Sultan Agung in Central Java in the early 1600s. It was located approximately due south of the current locality of Kota Gede and just west of the Plered palace built by his son, Amangkurat I. The structure was important logistically for Agung as he was asserting his separation from the paternal/family palace at Kota Gede, and it was located closer to the ocean coast, which was of significance in the relationship of Mataram rulers with the Nyai Loro Kidul. Little is known about the structure from non-Javanese sources, as few described or pictured it. The number of non-Javanese visitors was limited in number. It was known to be made in entirety in timber, and was prone to being damaged by fire.

Sultan Agung Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Bantul, Indonesia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is used as the home venue for Persiba Bantul of the Liga Indonesia. The stadium has a capacity of 35,000. The stadium was built in 2004. It first started hosting matches from Liga Indonesia in 2005. The stadium was inaugurated by the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X at the opening ceremony coincided PORDA Bantul DIY-IX on June 24, 2007. Though inaugurated in 2007, this stadium has been used to stage local soccer matches and Liga Indonesia since 2005.

Kotagede Silver Mosque (Indonesian: Masjid Perak Kotagede) (Javanese: ꦩꦱ꧀ꦗꦶꦢ꧀ꦥꦼꦫꦏ꧀ꦏꦺꦴꦠꦒꦼꦢꦼ), or as it is more widely known, Silver Mosque (Indonesian: Masjid Perak), is a historical mosque complex in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The 1947 Yogyakarta Dakota incident occurred when a Douglas C-47 Skytrain was carrying medical supplies to the de facto republican government of Indonesia at Yogyakarta which crashed on 29 July 1947. During the Indonesian National Revolution (1945–1949), several Indonesian nationalists, including Commodores Agustinus Adisucipto and Abdul Rahman Saleh, were tasked to deliver medical supplies from Malaya. Near the completion of the mission, as their aircraft – chartered from an Indian businessman and flown by an Australian pilot – approached the airfield at Maguwo, Yogyakarta, two Dutch Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawks flew in and shot the aircraft down over Ngoto, Bantul. Only one person survived the crash. Although the Dutch initially denied complicity, investigation showed that the Kittyhawks had caused the crash; the Dutch later made restitution to India. On 1 March 1948 a monument to remember the event was built in Ngoto. Since 1979, the Indonesian Air Force has celebrated a Service Day (Hari Bakti) in commemoration of the crash and in remembrance of the deaths.

Kotagede (Javanese: ꦏꦸꦛꦒꦼꦝꦺ Kuthagedhé) is a city district (kemantren) and a historic neighborhood in Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Kotagede contains the remains of the first capital of Mataram Sultanate, established in the 16th century. Some of the remains of the old Kotagede are remains of the palace, the royal cemetery, the royal mosque, and defensive walls and moats. Kotagede is well known internationally by its silver crafting.

Imogiri (ꦲꦶꦩꦒꦶꦫꦶ in Javanese script or Imagiri in standard Javanese spelling) is a royal graveyard complex in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, in south-central Java, Indonesia, as well as a subdistrict under the administration of Bantul Regency. Imogiri is a traditional resting place for the royalty of central Java, including many rulers of the Sultanate of Mataram and of the current houses of Surakarta and Yogyakarta Sultanate. The name Imagiri is derived from Sanskrit Himagiri, which means 'mountain of snow'. The latter is another name for Himalaya.

Gembira Loka Zoo is a zoological garden located in Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Gembira Loka Zoo was opened in 1956 and comprises a botanical garden, orchid nursery, artificial lake, children's park, numerous bridges across the Gajahwong River, and a collection of approximately 470 animals, most notable of which are its Komodo dragons, orangutans, gibbons, and hippopotamus. The park is 54 acres in size.In 2019, a zone called Zona Cakar (Scratch zone) has opened, focusing on carnivores, especially cats.Gembira Loka Zoo has received many new animals from various countries, such as six African penguins from Singapore Zoo and eight lesser flamingos from Tanzania.Gembira Loka Zoo added 12 meerkats and a pair of African lions from Batu Secret Zoo on May 9, 2021.

Gunung Sewu Geopark or Sewu Mountains (Indonesian: Pegunungan Sewu) is a series of mountains stretching along the southern coast of Gunung Kidul Regency and Wonogiri Regency of Central Java, to Pacitan Regency of East Java in the island of Java, Indonesia. This is a national Geopark, which is also a member of Global Geopark Network (GGN), recognized by UNESCO in 2015.
