The Cultural Palace of Nationalities (民族文化宫) is located in Beijing's Xicheng District, on West Chang'an Avenue. Built in September 1959, it is one of the Ten Great Buildings and was registered as the first of 55 museums in the city. The building houses a museum, an art gallery, a library, an art institute, a theater, a guesthouse, and other facilities. It is under the administration of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China.

Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), also known as Beijing Xiehe Hospital (Chinese: 北京协和医院), is a large teaching hospital in Beijing, China. It was founded in 1921 by Rockefeller Foundation and is affiliated to both Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS). During the Cultural Revolution, it was renamed the "Anti-imperialist Hospital". It has two locations: the Dongdan Campus in Wangfujing, Dongcheng District and the Xidan Campus in Damucang Hutong, Xicheng District.The last emperor of the Great Qing Dynasty, Aisin-Gioro Puyi, died at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital on October 17, 1967.

Xidan (Chinese: 西单; Pinyin: Xīdān) is a major traditional commercial area in Beijing, China. It is located in the Xicheng District.The Xidan commercial district incorporates the Xidan Culture Square, North Xidan Street, as well as many supermarkets and department stores. The Xidan Cultural Square is the largest venue for cultural events with shopping nearby in downtown Beijing.

Fuxingmen Inner Street (simplified Chinese: 复兴门内大街; traditional Chinese: 復興門內大街; pinyin: Fùxīngmén Nèi Dàjiē) is a major street in urban Beijing. It forms part of the extended Chang'an Avenue. It starts at Fuxingmen Bridge in the west, finishing at West Chang'an Avenue in the east. The Xidan commercial area is in the neighbourhood of the street, flanked by other more modern buildings, such as the Beijing Times Square. The impressive building of the Bank of China also sits on this street, together with the People's Bank of China. Line 1 of the Beijing subway runs along this route.

Xidan Station (simplified Chinese: 西单站; traditional Chinese: 西單站; pinyin: Xīdān Zhàn) is a station on Line 1 and Line 4 of the Beijing Subway located in the Xidan commercial district. The station on average has 60,000 entrances and exits per day. It was the terminus of Line 1 until it was extended eastward to Sihui Dong (E) on September 28, 1999.

Lingjing hutong (Chinese: 灵境胡同; pinyin: Língjìng hútong) is a hutong in Beijing, located near to Xidan, in the Xicheng District, Beijing. It is approximately 600 metres (2,000 ft) long, running from Xidan North Street to Fuyou Street with a width of 32 metres (105 ft), it is considered the broadest hutong in Beijing.

Lingjing Hutong station (simplified Chinese: 灵境胡同站; traditional Chinese: 靈境胡同站; pinyin: Língjìng Hútòng zhàn) is a station on Line 4 of the Beijing Subway, located on Xidan North St., about 150 m (490 ft) north of the west entrance of Lingjing hutong, after which it is named.

Xicheng District (simplified Chinese: 西城区; traditional Chinese: 西城區; pinyin: Xīchéng Qū; lit. 'West City District') is a district of Beijing. Xicheng District spans 32 square kilometres (12 sq mi), covering the western half of the old city (largely inside the 2nd Ring Road - the eastern half is Dongcheng District), and has 706,691 inhabitants (2000 Census). Its postal code is 100032. Xicheng is subdivided into 15 subdistricts of the city proper of Beijing. The former Xuanwu District was merged into Xicheng in July 2010. The Xidan commercial district, Beijing Financial Street (Jinrongjie), Beihai Park, Jingshan Park, Shichahai and Zhongnanhai are within its jurisdiction. The popular Houhai bar area is also in Xicheng Precinct. Before the 1911 Revolution, most royalty and aristocrats resided in the precinct. The oldest Catholic church in Beijing, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is located in Xicheng.

The Minzu Hotel (Chinese: 民族饭店; pinyin: Mínzú Fàndiàn, literally "Nationalities Hotel") is located on West Chang'an Avenue, in Xicheng District, Beijing, China. Having its opening in 1959, it was one of the Ten Great Buildings of Beijing in 1950s, and has hosted numerous foreign delegations. It is also a common place for press conferences. The 10-storey 4 star hotel has 507 rooms.

The All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (Chinese: 中华全国供销合作总社) is a joint organization of the national supply and marketing Cooperatives of China, led by the State Council, with an administrative level of ministerial level. It is a member of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).

The Wanggongchang Explosion (Chinese: 王恭廠大爆炸), also known as the Great Tianqi Explosion (天啟大爆炸), Wanggongchang Calamity (王恭廠之變) or Beijing Explosive Incident in the late Ming dynasty (晚明北京爆炸事件), was a catastrophic explosion that occurred on May 30, 1626, during the late reign of Tianqi Emperor, at the heavily populated Ming China capital Beijing, and reportedly killed around 20,000 people. The epicenter was a major production center of gunpowder, but it is uncertain exactly what triggered the explosion.

The Huairen Hall or Huairentang (simplified Chinese: 怀仁堂; traditional Chinese: 懷仁堂) is a building inside Zhongnanhai, the Chinese government's leadership compound in Beijing. It has been the site of several major events in Chinese history. Huairen Hall is the main meeting place of the Politburo of the Communist party of China and an alternate meeting place of the Standing Committee. The building is also the meeting location of several of the Communist Party's leading groups such as the Financial and Economic Affairs Leading Group and the Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reforms.
