Zijldijk

Oosternieland is a village in the municipality of Het Hogeland, Groningen, the Netherlands. It is located just north of Zijldijk, along the N46 road between the city of Groningen and the Eemshaven seaport. It had a population of around 100 in January 2017.

Roodeschool is a railway station located in Roodeschool, Netherlands. The station was opened on 16 August 1893 and is located at the end of the Sauwerd–Roodeschool railway. The train services are operated by Arriva. For well over a century, Roodeschool was the northernmost station in the Netherlands, until 28 March 2018, when further along the line, the station Eemshaven was opened, slightly more north. At the same date, the old, head-end station, was closed and a new station for Roodeschool was opened, allowing trains to continue to Eemshaven.

't Zandt (Dutch pronunciation: [ət ˈsɑnt]; Gronings: t Zaand [ˈtsaːnt]) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Eemsdelta. 't Zandt was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Loppersum. The municipality covered the villages 't Zandt, Zeerijp, Leermens, Eenum and Oosterwijwerd, and the hamlets Zijldijk, Kolhol, Korendijk and 't Zandstervoorwerk.

Uithuizermeeden is a village in the Netherlands, with a population of about 3,200 people. It is part of the municipality of Het Hogeland, close to the Wadden Sea. The most important points are the Meijster Toren and the Rensumaborg (dated 1700, not open for public). The Meijster Toren dated from the thirteenth century, but was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century in original style, after a fire destroyed it. It had a population of around 3,325 in January 2017.Uithuizermeeden was a separate municipality until 1979, when it became part of Hefshuizen.

Zeerijp (Dutch pronunciation: [zeːˈrɛip]; Gronings: Zeeriep [zeːˈrip] or Riep) is a village north of city of Groningen. Its most striking building is its brick church for the 14th century with detached bell tower. Formerly dedicated to John the Baptist, now it is a Dutch Reformed church. Also there is a famous organ inside the church, a Faber organ. Because there are so few inhabitants, Zeerijp has no shops, but there is a primary school 'De Wilgenstee' and a cafe. Also, there is a famous mill, 'de Leeuw'. There is also a gold and silver smith, Van Hulsen. Zeerijp's most recently made the headlines when an earthquake struck the village in January 2007. Earthquakes are extremely rare in the Netherlands; this one, measuring 2.3 on the Richter magnitude scale, was a result of drilling for natural gas.

The Rensumaborg is a borg in the village of Uithuizermeeden in Groningen in the Netherlands.

Startenhuizen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈstɑrtə(n)ˌɦœyzə(n)]) is a hamlet at the border of the municipals Het Hogeland and Eemsdelta in the northeastern Netherlands. It is divided in two parts, the biggest in Eemsdelta, and a few farms in Het Hogeland. Startenhuizen is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Startenhuizen. It had place name signs, however some have been removed.The hamlet was first mentioned in 1391 as "to Stertingahusum". The etymology is unclear. In 1590, the church was demolished, and never replaced. Startenhuizen was home to 112 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 17 houses.

Hefshuizen is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Groningen. Hefshuizen was created in 1979, in the merger of the former municipalities of Uithuizen and Uithuizermeeden. In 1990, Kantens, Usquert, and Warffum were added, and in 1992, the name of the municipality was changed to Eemsmond.
