Baillieston St Andrew's Church

Baillieston Juniors Football Club were a Scottish football club based in Baillieston, Glasgow, who played in Scottish Junior Football Association competitions from 1919 until 2003. They won the Scottish Junior Cup once, in 1980.

St John's Church, also known as St John's Baillieston, is a 19th-century Parish church of the Scottish Episcopal Church, in the Baillieston area of Glasgow, Scotland.

Swinton is an eastern suburb of the Scottish city of Glasgow, north of the areas of Baillieston and Garrowhill and east of Springhill. It is now concurrent with the 19th century Easterhouse village (whereas the large housing scheme of the same name lies across the M8 motorway to the north of Swinton). The hamlet of Swinton began to emerge with the building of cotton hand loom weavers' cottages in the early 1790s. A housing development was constructed in the 1920s, with more in the 1970s, but most of the current neighbourhood was built from the 1990s onwards. Easterhouse railway station gives direct access to the centre of Glasgow and regular local bus services run along Edinburgh Road to the south of the district. Swinton Primary School serves the local area (and Springhill), and from here pupils attend Bannerman High School in Baillieston.

Baillieston (Scots: Bylliestoun or Bailiestoun) is a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland. It is about 7 miles (11 km) east of the city centre. It also gives its name to Ward 20 of Glasgow City Council and forms part of the Glasgow East constituency of the UK Parliament.

Baillieston railway station is located in Caledonia Road on the southern boundary of the Baillieston area of Glasgow, Scotland, with the Broomhouse area on the other side of the tracks. It is on the Whifflet Line (a branch of the more extensive Argyle Line), 8 miles (13 km) east of Glasgow Central railway station. Train services are provided by ScotRail. The line was built in the period 1864-1866 by the Caledonian Railway and was called the Rutherglen to Coatbridge branch. The new station opened by British Rail on 4 October 1993 under the financial management of the Strathclyde PTE.

Easterhouse railway station serves the Easterhouse area of Glasgow, Scotland. It was built by the North British Railway as part of their Coatbridge Branch and opened when the branch opened on 1 February 1871. The station is 5¾ miles (9 km) east of Glasgow Queen Street railway station on the North Clyde Line and is managed by ScotRail.

Springhill is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde on the eastern edge of the city, north of the areas of Baillieston and Garrowhill and west of Swinton.Springhill consists mainly of semi-detached and detached family houses built in the 1990s, as well as Glasgow Business Park, a partly-completed industrial and commercial estate near to the neighbourhoods of Barlanark and Easthall, which features the local DVSA driving test centre and a 4-metre high landmark wire sculpture of a Clydesdale Horse by Andy Scott, who has other works on display in the vicinity - a phoenix in Easterhouse and a group of sirens at the water tower in Cranhill. The district has a few local shops as well as a pub/restaurant, but most other amenities are located in Baillieston or Easterhouse. Springhill can be accessed from the M8 motorway, using junctions 9 or 10. Sandaig Primary School and St Bridget's Primary School serve the local area, and from here pupils attend St Ambrose High School Coatbridge, and Bannerman High School.

Glasgow Zoo, or Calderpark Zoo, was a 99-acre (40 ha) zoological park in Baillieston, Glasgow, Scotland. The zoo was established in 1947 by the Zoological Society of Glasgow and West of Scotland, which was itself established in 1936. The zoo was located on the lands of the former Calderpark Estate, and during its peak attracted about 140,000 visitors a year. At the zoo's peak it contained over 600 animals and had 24 full-time and many part-time or seasonal staff. It closed in August 2003 after running up a debt of around £3.5 million and failing to renew its zookeeper licence, having been unable to meet new standards on animal welfare. In the last few years that it was open, Glasgow Zoo deteriorated mainly due to the lack of funding from the local council and due to many allegations of animal cruelty.

Broomhouse (Scots: Bruimhoose) is a residential area in Glasgow, Scotland. It is about 6 miles (10 km) east of the city centre. Historically a small mining village and later the site of the Glasgow Zoo, in the early 21st century it grew substantially as an affluent commuter suburb. Although close to Baillieston and within the Glasgow boundaries, the neighbourhood has a G71 postcode which has often led to it being associated with Uddingston, the main town for that district which is about 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) to the south-east in the South Lanarkshire local authority area.

Heart Scotland is a regional radio station owned and operated by Global as part of the Heart network. The station relaunched as Heart on 6 May 2014, serving central and southern Scotland from studios in Glasgow city centre. Heart Scotland originally broadcast as Scot FM until 2001, when Guardian Media Group bought the station, leading to a relaunch as Real Radio Scotland. Global Radio acquired GMG Radio on 25 June 2012, but operated Real Radio in a "hold separate" situation known as Real and Smooth Ltd, which ended on 1 April 2014.

Calderpark Halt railway station or Calderpark for Glasgow Zoo (NS679625) served Calderpark Zoo opened in 1947 on the old estate of Calderpark and the Baillieston area of Glasgow, Scotland on the Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge Railway between Shettleston and Hamilton. Glasgow Zoo closed in 2003.
