St Leonard's Forest

St Leonard's Forest SSSI is an 85.4-hectare (211-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Horsham in West Sussex. The SSSI is in two separate areas, with the western part being in the 289-hectare (710-acre) Forestry Commission managed St Leonard's Forest.Much of the forest is deciduous woodland, which is dominated by pedunculate oak, silver birch, common birch and beech. The humid microclimate of a narrow valley has allowed mosses and liverworts to survive which indicate continuous woodland cover for the past 5,000 years. Butterflies include the rare purple emperor.There is public access to the western part of the site.

Mannings Heath Golf & Wine Estate is located in Mannings Heath, Horsham in the south of England. The 500 acre parkland site includes two golf courses and a vineyard. The estate was acquired by Penny Streeter OBE in 2016 and is a division of The Benguela Collection, a wine producer and hospitality group in the United Kingdom and South Africa.Mannings Heath hosts PGA EuroPro tours.

St Leonard's Park Ponds is a 3.9-hectare (9.6-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Horsham in West Sussex.These ponds and adjacent woodland provide habitats for a wide variety of dragonflies and damselflies, including some uncommon species such as the variable damselfly The banks have rich flora including the nationally rare yellow centaury. There are also several unusual mosses and liverworts.The park is not open to the public, but a public footpath runs along the north bank of the ponds.

Mannings Heath is a village in the civil parish of Nuthurst and the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village is on the A281 road, 2 miles (3 km) south-east from the town of Horsham. Mannings Heath is the largest settlement in Nuthurst, and largely a dormitory for Horsham. Mannings Heath has an Anglican church dedicated to The Good Shepherd, built in 1881, a village hall, a village green incorporating Nuthurst Cricket Club's cricket ground, a riding school, and a golf course – Mannings Heath Golf Club, which is in both Nuthurst and the neighbouring parish of Lower Beeding. The village, previously a hamlet set around two roads, with 20 houses in 1794 and 40 in 1841, experienced a period of council and private house expansion and infill after 1945. A History of the County of Sussex commented in 1987 that roads and houses had been "built with a variety of design that largely preserved the original character of the hamlet". The West Sussex Gazette reported that 350-400 houses had been built by 1979. Two buildings, possibly 17th century, and a small number dating to 18th century remain. The village pub, the Dun Horse Inn, closed several years ago.

Roffey Road Halt is a now disused station on the Arun Valley Line in West Sussex, England and was the second station north from Horsham on the stretch to Crawley. It occupied a rural setting and opened on 1 June 1907. The anticipated housing growth did not occur and it closed in 1937. Some associated cottages were demolished in the early 1970s. The only visible signs of its existence are a number of concrete posts that supported the platforms. It is likely that the site and associated land next to the old station will be developed in the 2020s. A large housing estate of 2700 houses and a new park and ride railway station at this site have been approved.

All Saints Church is the Anglican parish church of Roffey, in the Horsham district of the English county of West Sussex. The present church, built to serve the Victorian suburb of Roffey—part of the ancient market town of Horsham—replaced a schoolroom in which religious services had been held since 1856. Arthur Blomfield's Early English-style church, built of locally quarried sandstone and funded by a widow as a memorial to her late husband, was completed in 1878 and was allocated a parish immediately. Roman Catholic services were also held in the building to serve Roffey's Catholic population, but these ceased in the early 21st century. English Heritage has listed the church at Grade II for its architectural and historical importance.

North Horsham is a proposed railway station in Horsham, West Sussex which would serve the North Horsham Business Park. The proposal was backed by West Sussex County Council who favoured this over Kilnwood Vale.The station would be located between Faygate and Littlehaven stations.

Colgate is a small village and civil parish in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England, about four miles (6 km) north east of Horsham. A small village, with its origins at the northern edge of St. Leonards Forest, it has no shops or retail facilities. There is a pub "The Dragon", and a church and a small primary school, which in 2012 received a Good report rating from OFSTED. There is a range of architectural styles in the village, with houses present from several different design eras. In the late twentieth century there have been some small developments of new houses in the centre of the village.Nearby settlements include villages of a similar size, architectural design, layout, and administrative status in Faygate and Pease Pottage, and the village is located close to the towns of both Horsham and Crawley.

Roffey is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council.

Lower Beeding is a village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village lies on the B2110, B2115 and A281 roads 3.5 miles (6 km) southeast from Horsham, and is centred on Holy Trinity Church and The Plough public house, where the B2115 meets the B2110. The parish hamlets are Crabtree to the south of the village, and Ashfold Crossways and Plummer's Plain to the north-east. At Plummer's Plain there is a spring that is the official source of the River Ouse, which eventually reaches the sea at Newhaven. In the early 13th century the monks of Sele Priory (St Peter's Church, Upper Beeding) began a mission to the area of St Leonard's Forest near Horsham, and established a small mission base, naming it Lower Beeding. Despite being some 10 miles (16 km) away, Lower Beeding remained a part of (Upper) Beeding parish until Victorian times. The existence of Lower Beeding led to differentiation in the name of the original Beeding in some medieval sources, adding the 'Upper'. A local landmark is Leonardslee Gardens, between Lower Beeding village and Crabtree; the gardens were closed to the public in 2010 but reopened in April 2019. The South Lodge Hotel in Lower Beeding was the venue for the 2009 G20 Summit meeting of finance ministers.Newells Preparatory School, in the village until 1968, is today at Handcross and part of Brighton College.

Newells Preparatory School came to Lower Beeding, Sussex, in 1946. It has been at Handcross and known as Handcross Park School since 1968. It merged with Brighton College in 2011.

Faygate is a village in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England. It lies on the A264 road 3.4 miles (5.4 km) south west of Crawley. It has a railway station on the Arun Valley Line with trains connecting to London and Portsmouth. The village is in the green belt between Crawley and Horsham. The village of Faygate is directly north west of Colgate, across the A264 road and west of Kilnwood Vale. Other nearby settlements include Lambs Green, Rusper and Pease Pottage. The name Faygate was first recorded in 1614.
