St George's Square

St Saviour's is an Anglo-Catholic church in Pimlico, City of Westminster, London, England, located at the north end of St George's Square. It was constructed in the 1860s as part of Thomas Cubitt's development of the area on behalf of the Marquess of Westminster. The church was designed by Thomas Cundy, who had previously built St Gabriel's Pimlico a short distance away. As with St Gabriel's, St Saviour's was designed in the Gothic style and built in ragstone to emphasise the contrast with the classical stucco of its secular neighbours. The church is Grade II listed.

Pimlico Academy (formerly Pimlico School) is a mixed-sex education secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in the Pimlico area of Westminster in London.

Dolphin Square is a block of private flats with some ground floor business units near the River Thames in Pimlico, Westminster, London built between 1935 and 1937. Until the building of Highbury Square, it was the most developed garden square in London built as private housing. At one time, it was home to more than 70 MPs and at least 10 Lords.At the time of its construction, its 1,250 upmarket flats were billed by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner as the "largest self-contained block of flats in Europe". To an extent, their design has been a model for later municipal developments.

Pimlico is a London Underground station in Pimlico, City of Westminster, on the Victoria line between Victoria and Vauxhall in Zone 1. Pimlico was the last station on the Victoria line to open in 1972, and is the only station on the line without an interchange to another, the deepest on the line, and the only one without step-free access. It is the main transport access point for the Tate Britain gallery.

St James the Less is a Church of England Parish Church in Pimlico, Westminster, built in 1858–61 by George Edmund Street in the Gothic Revival style. A grade I listed building, it has been described as "one of the finest Gothic Revival churches anywhere". The church was constructed predominantly in brick with embellishments from other types of stone. Its most prominent external feature is its free-standing Italian-style tower, while its interior incorporates design themes which Street observed in medieval Gothic buildings in continental Europe.

The statue of William Huskisson is a marble statue in Pimlico Gardens, a small park in the Pimlico area of London. It was listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England in January 2016. William Huskisson served as a Member of Parliament for Liverpool, but is more widely remembered as being the first fatal victim of a railway accident at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830 which he had been involved in creating. There are however sources which suggest there had been victims of railway crashes before him. It was his involvement in railways and the support of industry in Liverpool which would make him popular among his constituents. His death was considered a tragedy and a committee was formed with the aim of creating a memorial for Huskisson. The statue was designed by John Gibson, who, a practitioner of more classical styles of sculpture, depicted Huskisson in the Roman senatorial wear of a toga. While this decision has been questioned, it was one which Huskisson's widow would appreciate. The statue in Pimlico Gardens was the second commissioned, with the original made for Huskisson's mausoleum in Liverpool. This copy was intended to be placed in Liverpool's Custom House but was given to Lloyd's of London unveiled in 1848 and stood in their offices in the Royal Exchange. In 1915 its ownership was then given to the London County Council and it was then installed in its current location.

Pimlico Gardens is a 0.6 hectares (1.5 acres) public park in Pimlico, London, England. It is bordered to the north by Grosvenor Road and to the south by the River Thames. In the 19th century the area was a boarding point for boats on the Thames. In 1915, the site was detached from St George's Square Gardens, to which it had previously been allied, and designated as a public park. The park contains a statue commemorating William Huskisson, politician and reputedly the world's first railway accident fatality, after he was hit by Stephenson's Rocket in 1830. In 2023, Westminster City Council completed a consultation, as a first stage to the redevelopment of the park. The gardens are listed at Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

Lillington Gardens is an estate in the Pimlico area of the City of Westminster, London, constructed in phases between 1961 and 1971 to a plan by Roger Westman and Darbourne & Darke. The estate was formerly owned and managed by CityWest Homes. The estate was among the last of the high-density public housing schemes built in London during the postwar period, and is referred to as one of the most distinguished. Notably, seven years before the Ronan Point disaster ended the dominance of the tower block, Lillington Gardens looked ahead to a new standard that achieved high housing density within a medium rather than high-rise structure. It emphasised individuality in the grouping of dwellings, and provided for private gardens at ground and roof levels. The estate's high build quality, and particularly the planted gardens of its wide "roof streets", blend sympathetically with the surrounding Victorian terraces. The estate's high quality design was acknowledged by a Housing Design Award (1961), Ministry of Housing and Local Government Award for Good Design (1970), RIBA Award (1970) and RIBA Commendation (1973). Nikolaus Pevsner described it in 1973 as "the most interesting recent housing scheme in London". The site surrounds the Grade I listed Church of St James the Less, built in 1859–61. The entire estate, including the church, was designated a conservation area in 1990.

The Lord High Admiral is a Grade II* listed former public house at 43 Vauxhall Bridge Road, Pimlico, London.English Heritage note that it is attached to Charlwood House (also Grade II* listed). The design is as the result of a competition won in 1961 by John Darbourne. The structure was built in 1964–67, and the interior fitted out 1968–69. The architects were John Darbourne and Geoffrey Darke, Darbourne & Darke. It was later renamed as the Pimlico Beer Garden before becoming an Argentinian restaurant.

The statue of Thomas Cubitt is a statue that stands in Pimlico, London, on the intersection of Denbigh Street and St George's Drive. Thomas Cubitt was a Master builder who worked throughout London. His contributions include parts of the Victoria Embankment, Buckingham Palace as well as extensive work on Pimlico and Belgravia, which would host his building works and later be given the nickname of 'Mr Cubitt's District'. Cubitt was also well known for his interest in public and charitable works. Much of his will was dedicated to charity and was the longest on record. The statue was unveiled in 1995 by the Duke of Westminster. The site was given by the Sanctuary Housing Association Designed by William Fawke, it depicts Cubitt standing atop a pile of bricks in the process of inspecting them. In 2000, a statue from the same cast was erected in Dorking.

Westminster Under School is an independent preparatory school for boys aged 7 to 13, attached to Westminster School in London.The school was founded in 1943 in the precincts of Westminster School in Little Dean's Yard, just behind Westminster Abbey. In 1951 the Under School relocated to its own premises in Eccleston Square. Due to rising numbers of pupils in the 1960s and 1970s, the school moved again in 1981 to its present site (a former hospital) overlooking the Westminster School playing fields in Vincent Square. There are 285 pupils attending the school. The school has a strong musical tradition and provides choristers for St Margaret's Church in Westminster Abbey. It also excels in sport, drama (having produced winners of the recent Shakespeare Schools Festival), chess and Latin. Most boys attending the school move on to Westminster School after the completion of either Common Entrance or Scholarship examinations (in the case of Westminster School, the Challenge), although a number of boys each year go on to other schools, including Eton. The previous Master was Mark O'Donnell, who retired in 2020 due to ill health. Steve Bailey came out of his retirement in the 2020/21 academic year as an interim measure. The current Master is Kate Jefferson who is currently on maternity leave and so the Acting Master is Michael Woodside. There are 47 members of staff.The school fees for the 2020-21 academic year are £6,834 per term.

The Gordon Hospital is a 55-bed acute adult mental health hospital located in Westminster, London. It is managed by the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
