Syndal High School

Electoral district of Syndal was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria.

Glen Waverley Secondary College is a non-selective public government school located in Glen Waverley, Victoria, Australia. It is one of the largest secondary schools in Victoria, with 1,979 students and 158 teachers as of 2017. In addition, the college is one of the highest performing state high schools in Victoria, it ranked 59 out of all 530 Victorian high-schools in 2013, based on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Syndal is a Locality in the Melbourne suburbs of Glen Waverley and Mount Waverley in Victoria, Australia around the intersection of High Street Road and Blackburn Road. It is in the local government area of the City of Monash. From the intersection down to Syndal railway station on Coleman Parade, is the Syndal Shopping Centre. This strip is a highly populated commercial area encompassing a number of diverse local interest stores including several take-away food shops, a laundromat, a bridal store, a dry cleaner and many others in between. The commercial area is renowned for many long established specialist businesses. The intersection used to have three petrol stations, three banks (the Commonwealth Bank, the State Bank of Victoria, and the Westpac Bank), and two supermarkets including Schultz's supermarket owned and run by the Brownlow Medal winner John Schultz and his brother Robert Schultz. Today, Syndal has no banks, petrol stations, or supermarkets. At one point in time there were five schools, three primary schools and two secondary schools, containing the name Syndal – The former schools of Syndal High School, Syndal Technical School, and Syndal Primary School, and the continuing Syndal North Primary School (now Mount Waverley North Primary School), and Syndal South Primary School. Syndal has a nominated Australia Post postal office, although Syndal is still part of the greater Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley suburbs, and shares the same postal code as Mount Waverley, 3149, or Glen Waverley, 3150. Syndal was originally the name of a 114-acre (0.46 km2) farm owned by Sir Redmond Barry on High Street Road, which was purchased off Barry by the Coleman family who consolidated a number of farms at the time. The name for the locality was reclaimed in 1930 when the railway line to Glen Waverley station was opened and the name for the station at Blackburn Road and Coleman Parade had to be decided. The centre of the Syndal locality, and the original Syndal property is on High Street Road, west of the Blackburn Road intersection.

The station originally opened in 1930 as part of the line's extension from East Malvern. The station consists of a single island platform that is connected to Kingsway via a ramp on the station's eastern end.Glen Waverley is the terminus of the Glen Waverley line, which is part of the Melbourne rail network. Additionally, the station is served by ten bus routes including SmartBus route 902. The station is approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) or around a 35-minute train ride away from Flinders Street.

The station opened in 1930 as a part of the extension from East Malvern to Glen Waverley. The station consists of a single island platforms which is connected to Hunter Street and Coleman Parade via a pedestrian subway.Syndal station is currently served by the Glen Waverley line which is a part of the Melbourne rail network. Additionally, the station is served by SmartBus route 703 and route 737. The station is approximately 21 kilometres (13 mi) or around a 33 minute train ride away from Flinders Street.

Kingsway is a shopping, dining and entertainment precinct at the town centre of Glen Waverley, a southeastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It starts off at the northern end from High Street, and runs north-south parallel to Springvale Road before curving east at its southern end to join the latter as a T-intersection. Along Kingsway are two major shopping centres, The Glen Shopping Centre at its northern end, which offers more than 3,500 parking spaces; and Century City Walk at its southern end, which contains a Village Cinemas multiplex, other entertainment retailers (such as Strike Bowling Bar), a tavern and various eateries, as well as Novotel and Ibis. The Glen Waverley railway station is located just on the west of its middle section, and the City of Monash City Council and Civic Centre, the Glen Waverley Public Library, Uniting Church and Centrelink Office are also located at Kingsway.
