The Papua New Guinea National Research Institute (PNG NRI) is a public policy and development research institute in Papua New Guinea. After independence it was established as an independent statutory authority by Act of Parliament. It absorbing other institutes in 1988, and took its current name in 1993.

The National Library of Papua New Guinea is the national library of Papua New Guinea. It was founded in 1978 and is located in Port Moresby.It opened three years after the country's independence from Australia, the Library was established by Australia as a "gift to the government and people of Papua New Guinea" in order to "assist in establishing a collection of items of national significance".It houses approximately 56,000 items, "including books, films and video footage as well as maps, charts, photographs and microfilm".

The Sir John Guise Stadium is a multi-sport and athletics venue located in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea, and is part of the larger Sir John Guise Sports Precinct which also includes an indoor arena, beach volleyball/hockey court, and aquatics center. The stadium is named after Sir John Guise, the first Governor-General of Papua New Guinea.

The Hohola Mosque is a mosque in Port Moresby, National Capital District, Papua New Guinea. It is the first mosque in the country.

Tatana Island is located in the National Capital District of Papua New Guinea. Located in the North-West electorate of Port Moresby. The island is about 0.48 km2 (0.19 sq mi) in area, and consists of a single hilly rise some 800 metres (870 yd) by 500 metres (550 yd) in size. All the settlement on the island is concentrated in a strip of buildings along the northern shore, simply known as Tatana. This settlement is connected to the mainland by an artificial causeway built by the United States Army during World War II, which carries a road link.

Hanuabada is a coastal village in Papua New Guinea in the outskirts of the nation's capital, Port Moresby. It is the biggest village in the Motuan tribe and is often known by its locals as "HB." Hanuabada means "big village" (hanua "village" + bada "big", the former from Proto-Oceanic *panua) in Motu. It is northwest of Downtown Port Moresby. It has a population of over 15,000. It is a Motuan village and is part of Poreporena, which includes both Hanuabada and Elevala. The village was the site of the declaration of the Papua New Guinea protectorate by the British in 1884.Hanuabada is known for producing a large proportion of the players on the Papua New Guinea national cricket team. This was also the birthplace of the village Liklik Kricket Competition. The village is also the home of Commonwealth Champions Geua Vada Steven Kari and Dika Toua. Of Papua New Guinea's nine Commonwealth Games medals, eight have come from Hanuabada. In May 2015, there was a police raid in Hanuabada in which the police of Port Moresby confiscated more than 1,000 bags of betel nuts. The total value of these nut sacks was estimated to be over US$180,000.Hanuabada is also known for its LGBT community, with many fleeing to the city to escape discrimination and violence.Anne, Princess Royal visited Hanuabada and the site of the 1884 flag-raising as part of her Royal Tour to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Embassy of the United States in Port Moresby is the diplomatic mission of the United States of America in Papua New Guinea. It is also responsible for diplomatic relations with the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Port Moresby is a Latin Metropolitan Archdiocese in Papua New Guinea, yet remains dependent on the missionary Propaganda Fide Roman Congregation. Its archiepiscopal seat is St. Mary's Cathedral, in Port Moresby, National Capital District.

The Hubert Murray Stadium is a sports venue located in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea. It was developed for the 1969 South Pacific Games on reclaimed land at Konedobu that had previously been shoreline mangroves. The athletics events and the opening and closing ceremonies were held at the new stadium, which was named after Sir Hubert Murray, a former lieutenant governor. With an initial capacity of approximately 15,000 spectators, it was used for soccer and school athletic events after the 1969 games. In late 2003, a three-stage redevelopment of the site at a cost of K120 million via a public-private partnership began to expand the capacity to seat 25,000 people. The redeveloped stadium will be used for rugby league, rugby union, and soccer in a venue fit for FIFA standards, naturally grassed and with lighting suitable for television broadcasting of night events.The plans for the six-storey main stand include eight restaurants and a gymnasium with the facilities to host the weightlifting competition for the 2015 Pacific Games. Australian football and cricket are to be catered for by further expansion in stage three of the redevelopment.
