The station is located at 144th Street and Tracy Street, and is 18.2 miles (29.3 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Ivanhoe Station is in zone D. As of 2018, Ivanhoe is the 96th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 520 weekday boardings.Like the Riverdale station, Ivanhoe is built on a bridge embankment south of 144th Street, which also carries Amtrak's City of New Orleans, Illini, and Saluki trains. The waiting room is open 24 hours, is located on the north sidewalk, and contains ticket vending machines. Parking is available on the east side of the tracks on primarily north of Illinois Street between 144th and 145th Streets. Another parking lot is available across from this one on 144th Street, and a third can be found off the northeast corner of 144th Street and Atlantic Avenue. Thornwood High School is a public high school located in South Holland, Illinois, United States. It was built as part of Thornton Township High School District 205. It opened in 1971 to accommodate overcrowding at other District 205 schools, Thornridge High and Thornton Township High School.

147th Street (Sibley Boulevard) is one of two Metra Electric stations located on its Main Branch in Harvey, Illinois. The station is located on 147th Street (IL 83, also known as Sibley Boulevard), and Clinton Street, and is 19.0 miles (30.6 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 147th Street-Sibley Boulevard Station is in zone D. As of 2018, the station is the 62nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 829 weekday boardings.The station is named after both of the names for Illinois Route 83 in Harvey; Sibley Boulevard, and 147th Street. The bridge over Route 83 has a clearance of 13 ft 10 in (4.22 m), and part of the waiting room is built underneath the north side of the bridge. A large parking lot exists on the east side of the tracks between 147th Street and the Little Calumet River. A smaller parking lot exists on the southwest corner of Clinton and 146th Streets on the west side of the tracks. The station is to be bypassed beginning Monday, May 16, 2022 for major renovations, including bicycle parking, a kiss-and-ride, and an elevator to make the station accessible. The reconstruction is expected to take 12-15 months. During that time, the Ivanhoe and Harvey stations can be used to access Metra trains.

The station is located at 137th Street and Illinois Street, and is 17.3 miles (27.8 km) away from the northern terminus at Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Rivedale is in zone D. As of 2018, Riverdale is the 172nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 146 weekday boardings.Riverdale is the first station south of Kensington/115th Street, where the Blue Island Branch and the South Shore Line split from the right of way. It is built on a bridge embankment south of 137th Street, which also carries Amtrak's City of New Orleans, Illini, and Saluki trains. A wrought-iron fence exists between the sidewalk and the street below the station, and bridges are available beneath the tracks for 137th and 138th Streets. Parking is primarily available along Illinois Street and the railroad tracks between 137th and 139th Streets, but street-side parking can also be found on the opposite side of Illinois Street between 137th Street and 137th Place, and along 137th Street west of the railroad bridge.

Thorn Creek is a 20.8-mile-long (33.5 km) tributary of the Little Calumet River that travels through Will and Cook counties in northeastern Illinois just south of Chicago. It starts in the high land of the Valparaiso Moraine before dropping 200 feet (60 m) to the lower elevations of the Little Calumet River valley. Along its path it has cut many deep ravines and valleys. It is usually quite narrow, though the width of the river varies. Under 26th Street in Chicago Heights, a dam built in 1928 forms Sauk Lake (which is very wide), but just north of the street it is just a few feet across. This dam creates an accumulation of several feet of silt in Sauk Lake and is being considered for Notching in 2016 by the Corps of Engineers. The intent is to 'improve stream habitat'. The impact upon Ground Water Recharge, mitigation of Thorn Creek's 'flashiness' and future recreational activities are also concerns of Water-Shed Stakeholders.

Altgeld Gardens Homes is a Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) public housing project located on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It sits on the border of Chicago and Riverdale, Illinois. The residents are 97% African-American according to the 2000 United States Census. Built between 1944 and 1945 with 1,498 units, the development consists primarily of two-story row houses spread over 190 acres (0.77 km2).
