Henham Halt railway station

Henham, or Henham-on-the-Hill is a village and civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. The village is situated 2.5 miles (4 km) north from London Stansted Airport. The parish includes the hamlets of Little Henham and Pledgdon Green. Parish population at the 2011 Census was 1,233.Henham's parish church is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin. The community Village Shop & Post Office situated opposite the Village ponds is run totally by volunteers. The local public house is The Cock Inn. A dragon legend at Henham began with the 1669 pamphlet The Flying Serpent or Strange News Out of Essex, which promoted further alleged sightings of the dragon. Today, many signs in the village contain dragon motifs. Henham was a station on the Elsenham to Thaxted branch line. The village holds a bi-annual 10 kilometre run in the final weeks of May. There is a Tennis Club, Village Hall and OSCA (Hall & rooms for local activities). A monthly magazine "The Dragon" is distributed free to all residents. There is a bi-annual pantomime which takes place in the village hall in early January. Restarted in 2014 after a 10 year break, appearances so far have included "Cinderella", "Snow white and the Seven Princes", "Jack and the Beanstalk", and "Alice in Pantoland" Current notable residents include comedian Ed Byrne and actor John Savident. Hertfordshire, Minor Counties and Cambridgeshire cricketer Timothy Smith was born in the village.

Mill Road Halt railway station was a station between Elsenham and Henham in Essex. It was located 70 chains (1.41 km) from Elsenham station. It closed in 1952.

Sibleys railway station was a station in Sibleys Green, in the civil parish of Chickney, Essex. It was located 2 miles 78 chains (4.79 km) from Elsenham station. It closed for passengers in 1952.

Chickney is a village and civil parish near Broxted and southwest of Thaxted, in Uttlesford, Essex, England. The parish borders Broxted, Debden, Henham and Thaxted. Chickney just has a parish meeting, there is no parish council. In 2001 the parish had a population of 38.

The Elsenham & Thaxted Light Railway was a 5+1⁄2-mile (9 km) long light railway in Essex, England. The line was sanctioned in 1906, although did not finally open to traffic until 1 April 1913. It was the last rail line built in Essex until the construction of Stansted Airport railway station.The railway left the West Anglia Main Line at Elsenham. There were two stations (Sibleys and Thaxted) and three halts on the Railway; all except Mill Road Halt (opened in 1922) were opened with the line. The line was never a commercial success, since all the stations were located at some distance from the settlements they served; Thaxted station was 3⁄4 mile (1.2 km) distant from the town, since to construct a crossing of the River Chelmer would have been too costly. The Engineer's Line Reference for the line is ELT.As a light railway it was limited to 25 mph (40 km/h) giving a journey time of 22–28 minutes. There were five down and four up trains per day on opening.Passenger services were withdrawn from 15 September 1952 and the railway finally closed on 1 June 1953.

Elsenham Woods is a 44.4-hectare (110-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Elsenham in Essex. It was notified under Section 28 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and the local planning authority is Uttlesford District Council.The site comprises two separate areas, the larger Eastend Wood and the smaller Plegdon Wood. They are both ancient mixed woods on chalky boulder clay. There are also damp grass rides and ponds which provide additional habitats for invertebrates and birds.The site is private land with no public access.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the parish of Chickney, Essex, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Elsenham railway station is found on the West Anglia Main Line, serving the village of Elsenham in Essex, England. It is 35 miles 45 chains (57.2 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street, and is situated between Stansted Mountfitchet and Newport stations. Its three-letter station code is ESM. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Greater Anglia. The ticket office (on the London-bound platform) is staffed part-time; there are self-service ticket machines on each of the platforms (which are staggered, the country-bound being north of a level crossing and the London-bound being south of it) and a permit to travel machine is also available. Electronic real-time departure boards are available on both platforms.

Cherry Green or Chaureth Green is a hamlet in the civil parish of Broxted and the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. The hamlet is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north from the parish village of Broxted, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west from the town of Thaxted, and 16 miles (30 km) northwest from the county town of Chelmsford. Cherry Green contains nine Grade II listed buildings: three cottages, two houses, three farmhouses, and a barn.

Molehill Green is a hamlet in Takeley parish in Essex, England, close to the perimeter of London Stansted Airport, The hamlet consists of approximately forty houses and lies about 2.2 miles (3.5 km) north of Takeley village.It has one pub called The Three Horseshoes, a small village hall, a shop and a cricket club. Most of the houses are named rather than numbered, and it has only one named street, School Lane. The hamlet was originally called Morrells Green, which is now the name of a small housing estate in Takeley. The River Roding rises from a spring close to the cricket club. Molehill Green is geographically in Essex but its former postal county is Hertfordshire. Nearby are the hamlets of Chapel End, Broxted, Bamber's Green and the village of Takeley. There is another Molehill Green in Essex, in Felsted parish.
