The Gordon Strong Automobile Objective was a proposed planetarium, restaurant, and scenic overlook designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright for the top of Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland. Wright developed the design in 1925 on commission from Chicago businessman Gordon Strong. A spiraling ramp featured centrally in Wright's plan; this was his first use of a feature which would later gain fame as part of his Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The Drury-Austin House is a historic home located at Boyds, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a 1+1⁄2-story dwelling comprising two sections: a late-18th-century one-room plan log house (the southern half), which was doubled in size by the addition of a one-room timber-frame section in the early 19th century. The house is exemplary of the type of dwelling that characterized western Montgomery County in the earliest phase of its settlement.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Sugarloaf Mountain is a small (1,283 foot; 391 m) mountain and park about 10 miles (16 km) south of Frederick, Maryland, USA. The closest village is Barnesville, located just over one mile from the foot of the mountain. The peak of this relatively low mountain is approximately 800 feet (244 m) higher than the surrounding farmland. It is visible from many parts of northern Montgomery County and southern Frederick County, notably from I-270 north of the town of Germantown. Because of its geological and natural history interest, it was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1969. It is a notable example of an admission-free (although donations are requested), privately owned scenic park.

In this full-service town, there was the Hyattstown Inn, a one-room school-house, a butcher, a blacksmith, and other commercial venues. These historical commercial buildings are now private homes. Quarries nearby supplied slate for roofing the old United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.Hyattstown was the location of a Civil War artillery battle between General Nathaniel Prentice Banks' troops and General Stonewall Jackson's troops in 1862.Hyattstown Christian Church, a Disciples of Christ congregation that was established in 1840, continues worship, service, and outreach activities into the present day.The town is also close to Frederick County, Maryland, up where it borders Urbana.

The house was occupied by Roger Johnson, brother of Maryland governor Thomas Johnson, who established Bloomsbury Forge nearby. The property includes the remains of log slave quarters and a rare example of an early log barn.Bloomsbury was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Clarksburg School is a historic building located at Clarksburg, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a rectangular frame structure with a prominent projecting porch on the main facade. It is the last remaining of four similar frame public school structures built shortly after the turn of the 20th century in Montgomery County and was in continuous service from 1909 to 1972.The Clarksburg School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Boyds is an active commuter railroad train station in Boyds, Montgomery County, Maryland. Located on Clopper Road west of the junction with Maryland Routes 117 and 121, the station services trains of MARC's Brunswick Line between Union Station in Washington, D.C. and Martinsburg, West Virginia, along with some trains to Frederick, Maryland. Trains for Amtrak's Capitol Limited bypass the station. The next station west is Barnesville and the next one east is Germantown. Boyds station consists of two low-level side platforms and a single three-sided glass shelter, along with a small parking lot. Boyds station includes a 1931-built pedestrian tunnel originally built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.Boyds station began operations with the opening of the Metropolitan Branch Railroad on May 25, 1873. The station was named after James A. Boyd, a wealthy contractor who helped build the new railroad through the area. Ephraim Francis Baldwin, the architect for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, designed a brick combination station at Boyds the railroad built in 1887. This structure lasted until 1928.
