Lifford railway station

Lifford is a small area of Birmingham, England, located near Stirchley and Cotteridge. It is centred on the Lifford Reservoir. It was served by Lifford railway station which closed as a war-time economy measure during World War II, never to re-open.

Lifford Reservoir in the Kings Norton district of Birmingham, England was built by the Worcester & Birmingham Canal company in 1815 to compensate Lifford Mill for water lost to the canal. It is located at the junction of the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and the Worcester and Birmingham Canal and is on the River Rea Cycle Route. Angling is permitted subject to a charge outside the spring close season. Fish in the reservoir include tench, carp, pike, eels, perch, roach and bream.Its capacity is 68,190 m3 (89,190 cu yd), retained by an earthfill dam.

Kings Norton Stop Lock (grid reference SP055794) is a Grade II* listed building at Kings Norton Junction on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal near its junction with the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. It is the only guillotine-gated stop-lock on a canal.

Stirchley is in south-west Birmingham, England.The River Rea, which flows through the area and once powered mills at Lifford, Hazelwell, Dogpool and Moor Green, is now a walking and cycle route. The Worcester and Birmingham Canal and the railways brought industry to the area. Residential developments were established alongside the long-standing Victorian terracing which is associated with the suburb. The restored former Stirchley Baths community hub opened in 2016.

Cotteridge is an area of Birmingham, England and part of the Bournville ward. It is about 4 miles (6.4 km) miles south of Birmingham city centre. It has a shopping centre with a mixture of local shops, eateries and national brands.

Cotteridge Park is one of the Victorian parks in the city, set in 22 acres (89,000 m2), and located in the Bournville ward with an active community support group. It contains basketball and tennis courts, an orchard, an amphitheatre, playgrounds, a skateboard park, events space and copses. It had an on-site parkkeeper prior to funding for the role being withdrawn in October 2017 due to a drop of funding from the UK central government as a result of austerity policies.The Sons of Rest had a building in the park; it was demolished in the late 1990s.The Friends of Cotteridge Park was established in 1997.
