Priestweston

The River Onny is a river in Shropshire, England. It is a major tributary of the River Teme.

Middleton is a scattered settlement in Shropshire with a chapel (Holy Trinity) and a former schoolhouse. It was once much more populated but went into decline once mining ended in the area. It is situated in the civil parish of Chirbury with Brompton, in the west of the county. Middleton is a parish ward within that parish, returning 3 councillors. Historically it was a township of the hundred of Chirbury. The ecclesiastical parish is known as Middleton-in-Chirbury.To the north is the hamlet of Rorrington, to the south the small village of Priestweston, both also in the parish of Chirbury with Brompton.

The Whetstones are, or were, a stone circle beneath Corndon Hill in the parish of Church Stoke, Montgomeryshire, Wales, near the border with Shropshire, England. They lie immediately to the west of the village of White Grit and close to Priestweston. The site is also a short distance from the better-known Hoarstones and Mitchell's Fold circles. The circle was largely destroyed in the 19th century, and only a few fragments now remain. An 1841 account described them as even then fragmentary, but comprising three main stones, then "leaning, owing to the soft and boggy nature of the soil. They stand equidistant and assume a circular position [...] The highest of these is four feet above the surface; one foot six inches in thickness, and three feet in width." In 1860, the antiquarian Robert William Eyton still referred to the Whetstones as a "remarkable monument", but they were later stated to have been dug up, and the stones incorporated into a boundary wall, in about 1870. Aubrey Burl notes that "nearly all of its stones were blown up in the 1860s [...] when the last stone was uprooted around 1870 charcoal and bones were seen".The remnants of the circle can still be observed from an adjacent field boundary, or from the northern summit of Corndon Hill. Large stones are also visible now forming a boundary next to a footpath, which were probably also once incorporated in the circle.

Roundton Hill is a rounded, steep sided, 1,210 feet (370 m) hill, volcanic in origin, in the easternmost part of old Montgomeryshire (in present day-Powys), Wales, which juts into the English border near Church Stoke. It is managed as a nature reserve by the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, who acquired it in 1985.

Mitchell's Fold (sometimes called Medgel's Fold or Madges Pinfold) is a Bronze Age stone circle in southwest Shropshire, located near the small village of White Grit on dry heathland at the southwest end of Stapeley Hill in the civil parish of Chirbury with Brompton, at a height of 1083 ft (330m) o.d. The stone circle, a standing stone, and a cairn comprise a Scheduled Ancient Monument; the circle is in the guardianship of English Heritage.

Corndon Hill (Welsh: Cornatyn) is a hill in Powys, Mid Wales, whose isolated summit rises to 1,683 ft above sea level. It is surrounded on three sides by the English county of Shropshire and forms a prominent landmark in the Wales-England border. Corndon's prominent western edge appears to form a separate hill and is known locally as Lan Fawr (Welsh: 'Big Hill'). It is frequented by walkers and ramblers from car parks nearby at Mitchell's Fold for example. There are spectacular panoramic views from the summit, and it is itself an important landmark for the surrounding countryside and towns like Montgomery. It is close to villages such as Church Stoke and Hyssington. The hill is geologically part of the Shropshire Hills range of hills lying mainly to the north, east and south of the summit. The immediate area to the west is the Vale of Montgomery and the River Severn. The Cambrian Mountains are visible beyond to the far west. The Stiperstones and Shelve lie to the immediate north, with Caer Caradoc and the Long Mynd to the east.

Wotherton is a hamlet in west Shropshire, close to the Welsh border. It is in the civil parish of Chirbury with Brompton. Its name, mentioned as a manor in Domesday means, roughly, "settlement at a woodland ford"; the road through the village crosses a small stream.The Wotherton Barytes Mine operated here until 1911.

Rorrington is a hamlet in west Shropshire, England. It is in the civil parish of Chirbury with Brompton. Four lanes lead into the hamlet: from Marton in the north, Meadowtown in the east, Middleton in the south, and Wotherton in the west.National Cycle Route 44 passes through the hamlet.

Stapeley Hill is a sacred saddleback shaped hill in South-West Shropshire, near the village of Priestweston, not far from another landmark, Corndon Hill. The Hill is home to Mitchell's Fold [1] and along the path leading from the Fold which crosses Stapeley Common, home to the Cow Stone [2], or single standing Stone - Menhir and the Stapeley Hill Ring Cairn [3] [4]. There are two Bronze Age cairns at or near the summit, and such round cairns are a common feature of Welsh mountain summits. The hill rises to an elevation of 403 metres (1,322 ft) and lies in the civil parish of Chirbury with Brompton.

Churchstoke or Church Stoke (Welsh: Yr Ystog) is a village, community and electoral ward in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales. Located in the southeast of the Vale of Montgomery, it is overlooked by Todleth Hill, Roundton Hill and Corndon Hill. The rivers Caebitra and Camlad have their confluence just outside the village. The nearest town is Montgomery. In the 2011 census the village had a population of 708.The community of Churchstoke covers a wider area than the village, including the neighbouring villages of Hyssington and The Marsh. Recently the detached part of the community around Weston Madoc was transferred to Montgomery's community. The community is situated on a salient and covers an area of over 50 square miles (130 km2).

St Nicholas's Church, formerly called St Mary's Church until 1881, is a Church of England parish church in Church Stoke, Powys, Wales. The church's current building is largely the result of 19th-century reconstruction, but it retains its 13th-century tower with a later timber belfry. From the period prior to the 19th century, only a font, a stoup and a chest have survived up to three phases of restoration and reconstruction. The main body of the church with its large high pitched roof dates to the second half of the 19th century. It is a Grade II listed building.

Old Church Stoke is a village in the Community of Churchstoke in Powys, Wales. Until 1974 it was in the county of Montgomeryshire. The name, as a distinct settlement within the township and parish of Churchstoke, was first recorded in the mid-16th century. The current village includes several timber-framed farmhouses of the 17th and 18th century, the former Oak Inn from the same period, and a 19th-century Methodist chapel.There was formerly a holy well, or "Lady well", in the village, which was dressed with flowers and rushes.There are several farms located in Old churchstoke, one being Upper Aldress, farmed by Robert Kinsey and his family
