Druids Heath

The Baverstock Academy (formerly Baverstock Foundation School and Specialist Sports College) was a mixed secondary school and sixth form college, located on the southern edge of the Birmingham outer city ward of Druids Heath. Due to its outstanding sports facilities, it became one of the first to gain Specialist Sports College status in September 2002 before the Specialist Schools initiative was discontinued but then became a member of the Specialist Schools Trust. Baverstock also held Artsmark Gold, Schools Achievement and Sportsmark awards. With many past students representing Great Britain in many sporting competitions. The school was also a TEEP Training School and part of the National Literacy Trust programme. The school was placed in special measures after an "inadequate" inspection result in September 2014. An inspection in February 2016 concluded that special measures should continue although Ofsted in June 2016 stated the school was 'substantially' making improvements to the removal of special measures status. The academy was awarded The Good Schools Guide accreditation in 2016 for better performance by Boys taking Engineering at GCSE level than at any other Comprehensive School in England.The school closed in 2017 and was demolished in November 2020.

The Maypole, Birmingham is a location on the A435 road on the southern edge of Birmingham England, between Druids Heath and Highter's Heath and bordering the Bromsgrove district of Worcestershire. It has a population of 2.260 according to the 2011 Census.

Highter's Heath (often Highters Heath) is a district and ward lying on the southern boundary of the city of Birmingham, UK. The district of Highter's Heath lies immediately east of the Maypole. The first recorded use of the name dates from 1495 as Heyters Heath, however today the name is not one that is particularly in widespread use, indeed only three signposted references to the name exist, when entering the city along Maypole Lane, when entering the city from the bottom of Highters Heath Lane and in Major's Green.South of Maypole Lane the area is often referred to as Hollywood, after the adjacent village in Worcestershire, whilst to the north the boundary with Warstock (and the wider B14 moniker of Kings Heath) is undefined. The area includes Daisy Farm Park. Immanuel is the local parish church, behind which is located the local primary school. This is called Hollywood Primary School, so named because not only did the school open well after Highters Heath School, located at the far end of Highters Heath Lane in Warstock, but also because when the school was first proposed in the 1960s the city boundary still ran along Maypole Lane.Maypole Lane is served by National Express West Midlands bus routes 2 & 49 whilst Alcester Road South is served by bus no. 150 and Glenavon Road and the upper part of Highters Heath Lane are served by bus no. 27. Bus route 50 additionally serves the Maypole. Highter's Heath, as part of the reorganisation of local government in Birmingham, was made a single councillor electoral ward in May 2018 and includes Highter's Heath, Warstock, Maypole, and part of Yardley Wood. Adam Higgs of the Conservative Party UK was elected as the councillor for Highter's Heath on 7 May 2018, a position he retained on 5 May 2022. As part of the Birmingham Selly Oak Constituency, Highter's Heath is represented in the British Parliament by Steve McCabe of the Labour Party UK.

Brandwood is one of 40 wards which constitute Birmingham City Council and is part of the Birmingham Selly Oak constituency. Prior to May 2010, it was a part of the constituency of Birmingham Hall Green. The ward contains a large number of owner-occupied properties around Howard Road, Wheelers Lane, May Lane, Woodthorpe Road, Featherstone Road, Brandwood Road, Howard Road, Lindsworth Road and Alcester Road South, in addition to two big former council estates around Allenscroft Road and Druids Heath, the latter containing 16 high-rise tower blocks. Brandwood is a sub-section area of Kings Heath. The area is served by Druids Heath Library, Cocks Moor Woods Leisure Centre and Golf Course, Baverstock School and Brandwood End Cemetery.

Billesley Common is a recreational area of public open space in South Birmingham, England. It is situated along the Yardley Wood Road, between the suburbs of Moseley and Yardley Wood. Birmingham's rugby union team, Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club of the National League 1 lease part of the common from Birmingham City Council for their pitches and clubhouse. The ground had a seating capacity of 1,450 in the original stand which was replaced by a 5,000 seat stand and clubhouse. Birmingham Moseley's sister club Moseley Oak (formally Selly Oak RFC) have played at Billesley Common since 2008. In 2016, Birmingham Bulldogs announced that they would play their home games at the common. Billesley Common was first mentioned in 1774 as being 'common wasteland'. During the 1960s Billesley Common was home to the Birmingham Medics RFC.

Hollywood is a large village predominantly located in the Bromsgrove district of Worcestershire, England, almost contiguous with and to the south of the city of Birmingham. Hollywood was formerly part of Kings Norton, but when Birmingham expanded in 1911, Hollywood remained in Worcestershire. The village now lies across the wards of Hollywood, most of Drakes Cross, the Trueman's Heath polling district area of Trueman's Heath parish ward and, following a 1966 border change, the southern portion of the Birmingham Highter's Heath ward, with all but the latter being located within the civil parish of Wythall. The southern part of the village is also known as Drakes Cross, whilst the eastern part is sometimes referred to as Trueman's Heath. Hollywood is situated in the extreme northeastern corner of Worcestershire, 8.5 miles / 13 km south of Birmingham city centre, 6 miles / 9.5 km west-southwest of Solihull and 8 miles / 12.5 km northeast of Redditch.

Warstock is a district within the city of Birmingham, UK, in the southernmost suburbs roughly 1 km east of the A435 and within the ward of Highter's Heath. The area lies within the B14 postcode and is contiguous with Yardley Wood to the north-east, Solihull Lodge to the south-east and Highter's Heath to the south-west. Kings Heath lies to the north-west. The core (i.e. uncontentiously defined area) of the suburb is centred on Daisy Farm Road and is the smallest widely recognised district within Birmingham (map). To the west of the core area some properties favour the wider B14 moniker of Kings Heath whilst the boundary with Highter's Heath is also undefined. The core area includes the Highters Heath Community (primary) School and is served by National Express West Midlands no. 2 bus route. The housing in Warstock is mostly terraced and semi-detached, for the most part built in and around the 1930s, to house the result of the first baby boom. Two areas initially developed in the 1950s have since been rebuilt, namely Shorters Avenue and Whitlock Grove / Moundsley Grove. There are a number of shops sited across two locations on Prince of Wales Lane. Those on the east side of the road (between Grafton Road and High Street), which includes Warstock Post Office, are actually within Solihull MBC, although their postcode remains Birmingham B14. There were many pubs in and around this area but in recent years all but a few have closed and been demolished. The Bagnall Arms (School Road/Warstock Lane), The Warstock (Prince of Wales Lane/Yardley Wood Road), The Haven (251 School Road, later known as The Mercury), The Valley (Yardley Wood Road/Haunch Lane), and The Maypole (at the Maypole) have all been demolished. The Dog and Partridge (146 Priory Road) still stands but is now used as a church. The nearest surviving pubs are now The Prince of Wales at the southern end of Prince of Wales Lane (closed as of June 2021, and rumoured to be replaced by a nursing home), The Horseshoe on Alcester Road, The Lodge in Solihull Lodge, and DJ Quinns formally Behans Bar and originally The Sherwood on Highfield Road, along with Yardley Wood Social Club at the northern end of Prince of Wales Lane.

Kings Heath Boys is a boys' community school located in Kings Heath, south Birmingham, England. It has a comprehensive admissions policy, and in 2019 had an enrolment of 582 pupils ages 11–16.The current headteacher is Mr Christopher Etheridge. In 2013 it received a rating of "Good" (grade 2) from Ofsted, improving from "Satisfactory" (grade 3) at its previous inspection. In 2017, in a shorter inspection the school had maintained its "good" rating. "The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection."

Woodrush High School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the parish of Wythall in the English county of Worcestershire.Woodrush High School offers GCSEs, BTECs and Cambridge Nationals as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs. As of 2018, the school also started enrolling higher ability students onto the Mandarin Excellence programme. As of the most recent Ofsted inspection published in January 2019, the school has 1002 enrolled pupils, 96 of whom are in the Sixth Form. In this inspection the school were graded overall 'good' with 'outstanding' leadership and management and 'outstanding' behaviour.

Wheelers Lane Technology College (formerly Wheelers Lane Boys' School) is a secondary school for boys located in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham, in the West Midlands of England.It is a non-selective community school administered by Birmingham City Council.
