Seal Rock State Recreation Site

Seal Rock is an unincorporated coastal community in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States, between Newport and Waldport on U.S. Route 101. The community of Seal Rock is named for the Seal Rocks, a ledge of partially submerged rocks that parallel the shore for about 2.5 miles (4.0 km). In Chinook Jargon the area was called Seal Illahe, meaning "seal place" or "seal home", while "Seal Rocks" is what the locality was called in pioneer times, when it was an early resort community. The name "Seal Rock" appears to refer to the one large rock, about 20 feet (6.1 m) above water, that was formerly where hundreds of common seals and Steller sea lions would rest.Seal Rock was the terminus of the Corvallis & Yaquina Bay Wagon Road, which was the first road to reach the Oregon Coast from the Willamette Valley. The town of Seal Rock was platted in 1887 and three blocks of hotels were built, but development lagged and the assets of the road company were transferred to the promoter of the Oregon Pacific Railway, T. Egenton Hogg. Seal Rock post office was established in 1890.Seal Rock is also the name of an address-restricted archaeological site in the vicinity that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Brian Booth State Park is a coastal recreational area located near Seal Rock, Lincoln County, Oregon United States, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It consists of two major portions: Ona Beach State Park and Beaver Creek State Natural Area, which were merged in 2013. The park has beach access, kayaking, and hiking trails. The park is 886.32 acres and has an annual attendance of 247,772 people. Ona is known as a Chinook Jargon word for razor clam.Ona Beach State Park is a state park, which straddles Beaver Creek. It approximately halfway between Newport and Waldport, Oregon, which is 9 miles (14 km) south of the former. Beaver Creek State Natural Area opened to the public on October 1, 2010.The state park is also the western terminus of the Corvallis to the Sea Trail, which has its official opening August 21, 2021.

Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site is a state park administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department in the U.S. state of Oregon. Located 3 miles (5 km) north of Waldport along the Pacific Ocean, the park offers beach access, picnicking, and fishing in a setting of shore pines and sand. It is fee-free and open year-round.The 36.7-acre (14.9 ha) park between U.S. Highway 101 and the ocean has parking spaces from which visitors can watch winter-storm surf without leaving their cars. A path leads from the bluff to a wide beach with driftwood along the high-tide line. Kite flyers and beachcombers frequent the beach in sunny weather. The Oregon Coast Trail for long-distance hikers passes through the park.It was used as a filming location for the upcoming 2023 film adaptation of the stage musical version of The Color Purple.

It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in southern Lincoln County, bordered to the south by Alsea Bay and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. U.S. Route 101 passes through Bayshore, leading north 14 miles (23 km) to Newport, the Lincoln county seat, and south through Waldport 10 miles (16 km) to Yachats.

The Alsea River flows 48.5 miles (78.1 km) from Alsea, an unincorporated community in the coastal mountains of the U.S. state of Oregon, to the Pacific Ocean near the city of Waldport. It begins at the confluence of the North Fork Alsea River and the South Fork Alsea River and ends in Alsea Bay, a wide estuary at Waldport. The river flows generally west-northwest in a winding course through the mountains of southern Benton and Lincoln counties, passing near the unincorporated community of Tidewater and through the Siuslaw National Forest. Its drainage basin extends into Lane County, along the headwaters of the South Fork Alsea River. The Alsea River supports runs of chinook and coho salmon, as well as steelhead and coastal cutthroat trout. The Alsea River Fish Hatchery is along one of its tributaries, the North Fork Alsea River.
