The Guitar House, previously known as Confederate Hill, is a historic home located in Columbia, Missouri. It was built between 1859 and 1862 and is a two-story, Italianate style dwelling. It has a low-pitched hipped roof, tall slender windows with segmented arches, decorative eave brackets, and a single-story front porch with square supports. The house was constructed by David Guitar, an officer in the Union forces (the 61st Regiment of the Enrolled Missouri Militia) during the American Civil War. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Stephens Lake Park is a park located in Columbia, Missouri, dating back to the early 19th century. Today it serves as an arboretum with a lake, and a park spanning 116 acres. It is often used as a live music venue.

The Treeline Music Festival, previously known as the Roots N Blues Festival and Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival, is an annual music festival that takes place in Stephens Lake Park in Columbia, Missouri. The festival features international, national, regional and local artists, both established and emerging, from the genres of roots, blues, gospel, country, folk, bluegrass, rock and soul. The Roots N Blues Festival is a three-day event that is typically held during the last weekend of September. The festival includes over 30 live music performances on two stages, food and beverage vendors, craft vendors, a Ferris wheel and art installations. The festival also hosts a half marathon and 10k race and a gospel celebration during the festival weekend. The festival is organized by Thumper Entertainment, which also manages the non-profit Roots N Blues Foundation in support of Blues in the Schools, a youth music education program.

Sherman's Dam was an impoundment built on Hinkson Creek, Boone County, Missouri. The dam was operational between 1894 and 1920. The dam was constructed to provide a water supply for the city of Columbia, Missouri. The remains of the stone abutments can still be seen and accessed from the walking trail at Stephen Lake Park just upstream of the East Broadway bridge.

The Hamilton-Brown Shoe Factory was the first large scale industrial operation in Columbia, Missouri. It was built in 1906-1907 by the Brown Shoe Company, the largest shoe manufacture in the world at the time. It was the first plant built outside of St. Louis and was operational from 1907-1939 The building today has been converted into offices. The company was a large manufacturer of men's, women's and children's shoes. In 1888, the Hamilton-Brown Shoe Company built a factory at the northeast corner of 21st and Locust in a fading upper-class residential neighborhood in St. Louis. Already a force in St. Louis industry, the company doubled its sales between 1890 and 1900. By the early 20th century, Hamilton-Brown with six manufacturing facilities claimed world leadership in boots and shoes. At one time, the company was the largest shoe manufacturer in the world. Their product line brand included the "American Gentleman" and "American Lady". It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

KPLA (101.5 FM) refers to a Cumulus radio station in Columbia, Missouri. KPLA first started out as 101.7 KARO-FM, an "easy listening" station in February 1983. In 1986, it became known as K102. Then in 1994, it became KPLA and has consistently been a Top 3 radio station in the market, playing "soft rock." KPLA broadcasts from the highest tower in Columbia, Missouri, reaching 70 miles (110 km) within Mid-Missouri.

KBXR (102.3 FM), often referred to simply as BXR, is a local radio station located on Old Highway 63 in Columbia, Missouri. It airs an adult album alternative format with a mixture of alternative rock, classic rock, and more.

The Wright Brothers Mule Barn, also known as Rader Packing Co. Bldg. and Diggs Building, is a historic structure built by L.W. and B.C. Wright located at Columbia, Missouri. It is located in an industrial area north of Downtown Columbia, Missouri. The 1+1⁄2-story masonry building was Mid-Missouri's leading mule facility in the 1920s. Today the building has been restored and renovated and offices and lofts. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Boone Hospital Center is a county-owned not-for-profit hospital in Columbia, Missouri. It is administered by Boone Health. The hospital is a regional referral center, providing services to 25 Mid-Missouri counties. It employs over 2000 people, making it one of the largest employers in Columbia.
