Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School

Church Street station is an under-construction MBTA Commuter Rail station located in northern New Bedford, Massachusetts, United States. It is planned to open in mid-2024 as part of the first phase of the South Coast Rail project. The station will have a single side platform on the east side of the New Bedford Subdivision, along with a park and ride lot. The former Acushnet station, located slightly to the north of the modern station site, was served by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and several predecessors until around the 1930s. A site near Kings Highway in northern New Bedford was announced as a potential South Coast Rail station in 2009. Originally to be on the west side of the tracks, the planned station was moved to the east side and renamed North New Bedford in 2019. A construction contract was issued in 2020; that year, the station was again renamed as Church Street.

The Head of the River Historic District is a historic district encompassing a village area at the head of navigation of the Acushnet River, which separates Acushnet and New Bedford, Massachusetts. The village is centered at the junction of Tarkin Hill Road, River Road, and Mill Road in New Bedford, and Main Street in Acushnet. The area went through two significant periods of development: the first was in the late 18th and early 19th century, and the second was in the early 20th century. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Acushnet River is the largest river, 8.6 miles (13.8 km) long, flowing into Buzzards Bay in southeastern Massachusetts, in the United States. The name "Acushnet" comes from the Wampanoag or Algonquian word, "Cushnea", meaning "as far as the waters", a word that was used by the original owners of the land in describing the extent of the parcel they intended to sell to the English settlers from the nearby Plimouth colony. Quite naturally, the English mistook "Cushnea" for a fixed placename or the name of a specific river.

Acushnet Cedar Swamp is a 1,100-acre (450 ha) swamp located in Bristol County, Massachusetts. It is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. In 1972, Acushnet Cedar Swamp was designated as a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. The New Bedford Regional Airport borders the swamp to the south. It is one of the State's largest, wildest and most impenetrable swamps, and an outstanding example of the diversity of conditions and species in the glaciated section of the oak-chestnut forest.

The Manomet Mills are a historic textile mill complex on the north side of New Bedford, Massachusetts. They are located between Riverside Avenue and the Acushnet River, north of Manoment Street and the Whitman Mills. The complex consists of three Classical Revival brick buildings, built between 1903 and 1907. The main building, Mill No. 1, is a 54-bay, three-story structure that was built in 1903. It is attached to Mill No. 2 (1907), of similar size, by a single-story brick structure. The third building is the Mill No. 2 Department Room (1907), a two-story brick building that was originally connected to the other two via overhead bridges, now removed. The mill complex was the main operating site of the Manoment Mill Company, which produced cotton yarn until about 1928. The buildings were sold in that year to the Delaware Rayon Company, which went bankrupt in 1954. Mill No. 2 was then used by the Acushnet Process Company for the manufacture of golf balls, while Mill No. 1 continued to be used for rayon production, a chemically intensive and environmentally hazardous process.Mills Nos. 1 and 2 were occupied by the Cliftex Corporation. In 2012, projects to redevelop the mills into residences began, with the third redevelopment project finishing in 2022. The mill complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, also in 2012.

The population was 10,559 at the 2020 census.Acushnet is a part of the South Coast region of Massachusetts which encompasses the cities and towns that surround Buzzards Bay (excluding the Elizabeth Islands, Bourne and Falmouth), Mount Hope Bay and the Sakonnet River.

The Jewish Cemetery of New Bedford, Massachusetts is located in the far north of the city, on Old Plainville Road, just north of New Bedford Regional Airport. The cemetery was established in 1898 as the principal burying ground for two congregations, Chesed Shel Emes and Ahavath Achim. It is the second Jewish cemetery in the city; the first, a small section of Peckham West Cemetery, was filled up in the 1890s. The developed portion of the cemetery lands is about 13 acres (5.3 ha), with another 24.5 acres (9.9 ha) that is undeveloped forest. The cemetery land is now owned by a number of organizations: the Tifereth Israel congregation owns about 19 acres (7.7 ha), Ahavath Achim owns 5.25 acres (2.12 ha), and two small parcels are owned by other organizations. Entrances to the cemetery are marked by stone posts with bronze plaques. There is also the Temple Sinai section that sits in the grounds of the New Bedford airport that was accessible from the Old Plainville Road but is now blocked off. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. It is noted for its significance with the growth of the Jewish community in New Bedford, and for its encapsulation of changing Jewish funerary customs, and their difference from those of other ethnic and religious groups.

Acushnet Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Acushnet in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,030 at the 2020 census, which was 28.7% of the population of the entire town.

Shawmut Diner is an historic diner formerly located at 943 Shawmut Avenue in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The diner was built in 1953. In 1983 the Paleologos family bought and updated the diner. The diner was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. It has been featured on the Food Channel. The Shawmut Diner closed for business on March 31, 2014. It was moved to the Bristol County House of Corrections in nearby Dartmouth, Massachusetts in May 2014. It has been replaced by a Cumberland Farms.

The Whitman Mills are a historic mill complex on the banks of the Acushnet River north of central New Bedford, Massachusetts. The mill yard is bounded by Riverside Street, Manomnet Street, Coffin Street, and the river. It is just one of a group of mill complexes developed by William Whitman in the area around the turn of the 20th century. This particular grouping, including two large mills, an office, and several outbuildings, was built between 1896 and 1917, with most of those original buildings still standing. The mills operated until 1932, when the Whitman Company went bankrupt. The complex was nearly demolished in the 1950s, but has since been subdivided and occupied by a succession of smaller businesses.Renovations at the historic Victoria Riverside mill are now complete and tenants began occupying units in the winter of 2011. Because of the 18’ ceilings, the architect has created a unique design with living space on two floors within the unit with a balcony on the second floor overlooking open space on the first floor. Traditional loft units are also available with living space on one floor. Of the 101 units, traditional loft units are also available with living space on one floor. New Bedford has teamed with Community Rowing of Boston to bring rowing to the Acushnet River. The plan is to create a top level rowing course on the river with amenities such as a boathouse, launch deck and observation areas. Victoria Riverside will overlook the course. The mill complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Hotel Waverly is a historic hotel at 1162-1166 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The 3+1⁄2-story hotel was designed by locally prominent architect Samuel C. Hunt and built in 1901. The Queen Anne structure was originally designed to house four residential units on the upper floors, and retail space on the ground floor. In 1911 it was repurposed into the Hotel Waverly, with the second floor converted to a cabaret space. It was renamed the Hotel Touraine in 1922, operating as such until the mid-1970s.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Completely renovated in 2000, it is now home to low income housing, and known as Talbot Apartments.
