Beverwijk railway station

Beverwijk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌbeːvərˈʋɛik] (listen)) is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The town is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Amsterdam in the Randstad metropolitan area, north of the North Sea Canal very close to the North Sea coast. A railway tunnel and two motorway tunnels cross the canal between Beverwijk and the nearby city of Haarlem on the south side of the canal. Around 1640, a town called Beverwyck was founded in the Dutch colony of New Netherland. That town's modern name is Albany, New York.

The Beverwijk Bazaar (Dutch: Beverwijkse Bazaar) is a covered market in Beverwijk, the Netherlands. With over 2000 shops and stalls on 75,000 m2, it claims to be the largest recreational covered market in Europe.

Plantage MAVO was a vocationally oriented secondary school for students aged 12–16 (Middelbaar algemeen voortgezet onderwijs) in Beverwijk, the Netherlands. A successor to a prior form of vocational school called an Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs or ULO, it opened in 1958 as part of the development of a new neighborhood, the "Plantage". At the end of the 1980s, it was amalgamated with other schools, first to form Scholengemeenschap Maerten van Heemskerck and then as part of the formation of a single secondary school for the whole town, Kennemer College. The school building was demolished and apartments built on the site.

Velsen-Noord is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Velsen, and lies about 10 km north of Haarlem. From 1865 on, when the construction on the North Sea Canal began, the town of Velsen, which originated in Roman times, was split in two parts. The northern part was known as Wijkeroog. Circa 1920, when municipality Beverwijk was planning to annex its surrounding villages, Velsen renamed Wijkeroog to Velsen-Noord (and Velsen itself to Velsen-Zuid) to indicate clearly that it was part of the municipality. In 1918, the steel producer Koninklijke Hoogovens was established in Velsen-Noord along the North Sea Canal. Its blast furnaces have defined the landscape of this town since then. The Hoogovensmuseum was opened in 2009 by the Stichting Industrieel Erfgoed Hoogovens (SIEHO) in order to preserve the industrial heritage of this historic steel producing site.

Adrichem Castle (Dutch: Huis Adrichem or Dutch: Kasteel Adrichem) was located in Beverwijk, the Netherlands. Constructed as a stronghold in the Middle Ages, it served in the 17th and 18th century as a country retreat for rich merchant families from Amsterdam. At the start of the 19th century, during the French reign over the Netherlands, it has been demolished. Today, nothing remains from the castle and it is home to a camping.

Velsen-Zuid is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Velsen, and lies about 9 km north of Haarlem. Velsen-Zuid developed around the church founded by Willibrord in the 8th century. Between 1865 and 1876, the North Sea Canal was dug and Velsen became two settlements.The home of Telstar, a team competing in the second tier of Dutch football, the Eerste Divisie, is located in Velsen-Zuid. Their stadium is known as the BUKO Stadion.

The Battle of Beverwijk (Dutch: "Slag bij Beverwijk") was a violent confrontation between two hooligan supporter groups of Dutch Association football clubs Ajax and Feyenoord, the S.C.F. Hooligans and the F-Side. The incident took place on 23 March 1997 along the A9 motorway near Beverwijk, from which its name is derived.

Beeckestijn is a historical buitenplaats (summer house) dating from the 18th century in a park by the same name in Velsen-Zuid, Netherlands.

Hofgeest is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Velsen, and lies about 7 km north of Haarlem. The statistical area "Hofgeest", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 110.

Sportclub Telstar Vrouwenvoetbal Noord-Holland is a Dutch women's football club based in Velsen. It is connected to SC Telstar. The teams home stadium is the 3,625 seater BUKO Stadion and its home colours are white. The women's team was established in 2011 and played in the top level Eredivisie and BeNe League. After the 2016–17 season the team relocated to Alkmaar and formed VV Alkmaar. In February 2022 media reported Telstar would restart in the Eredivisie the following season.

Sportpark Schoonenberg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsxoːnə(m)bɛr(ə)x]), branded as 711 Stadion for sponsorship reasons, is the home of Eerste Divisie club Telstar. It is located in Velsen-Zuid, Netherlands. It was opened in 1948, with minor renovations in 1999. The stadium, with a capacity of 5,200, consists of an all-seater east stand, a small terraced south stand, and an all-seater west stand. On the south stand are no seats. The latter stand was built in 2009 and has several built-in features, including new changing rooms, offices, and improved sponsor seating. Since the first of Januari 2021, BUKO is the main sponsor of the football team, and subsequently the stadium was named BUKO Stadion. In June 2023, online casino 711 became the new sponsor of Telstar, and the stadium was renamed 711 Stadion.

The Hoogovensmuseum is a museum located on the northern side of the North Sea Canal sluice gates at IJmuiden, in the former "buizengieterij" (pipe making factory) of Koninklijke Hoogovens, now Tata Steel IJmuiden, on the Buizenweg in Velsen-Noord. It overlooks the binnenkanaal where water was pumped up to use for cooling. The former cooling bath house has been converted to an exhibition space.
