Purmerend Weidevenne railway station

Weidevenne (pronunciation ) is a district of Purmerend in the Netherlands, west of the Noordhollandsch Kanaal (North Holland Canal) across from the De Gors district. Its 14,451 inhabitants (as of 1-1-2007) mainly live in terraced houses. The population of Purmerend is expected to grow to 90,000, mainly due to the continuing expansion of Weidevenne. In November 2007 the district celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Purmerend (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌpʏrməˈrɛnt] (listen)) is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The city is surrounded by polders, such as the Purmer, Beemster and the Wormer. The city became the trade center of the region but the population grew relatively slowly. Only after 1960 did the population start to grow from around 10,000 to around 80,000 by the 2010s. From the 1960s onwards, Purmerend has seen major expansion and continues to do so. This expansion has turned Purmerend into a commuter town; many inhabitants of Purmerend (14,200 in 2011) work, go to school or spend their leisure time in Amsterdam. Purmerend is part of the Randstad, one of the largest conurbations in Europe.The municipality of Beemster merged into the municipality of Purmerend on 1 January 2022. The extended municipality has a population of about 92,000 inhabitants.

Purmerland (pronunciation ) is a village of 395 (January 2007) in the municipality of Landsmeer, North Holland, the Netherlands. It is located just north of Den Ilp and just south of the housing estate of Weidevenne, part of the city of Purmerend. It is directly connected to both of these as Purmerland, like Den Ilp and Landsmeer is mainly characterised by ribbon building along the main road. Purmerland was part of the Free and high Lordship of Purmerend, Purmerland and Ilpendam.

Purmerend is the railway station in the centre of Purmerend, Netherlands. The station opened on 20 May 1884 as part of the Zaandam–Hoorn railway, extended to Enkhuizen in 1885. The original station building was demolished in 1957. The station building, built in 1958, was used until February 1, 2008, now has a small role as counter only open on weekdays from seven to eleven o'clock in the morning. Nowadays a Chinese restaurant is housed in the building.

Zuidoostbeemster is a town in the west of the Netherlands in the former municipality of Beemster, North Holland. It is located about 1 km northwest of Purmerend. Since 2022 it has been part of the municipality of Purmerend. In 2005, the statistical district "Zuidoostbeemster", covering the village and surrounding countryside, had a population of around 2050. By 2020 the village grew to 3,310 inhabitants.

Neck is a village in the northwest Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Wormerland, North Holland, about 3 km west of Purmerend. The village was first mentioned in 1328 as "sic: van Hicke", and means "neck" which refers to the narrowest point of the waterway separating the Beemster from the Wormer.The polder mill Nekkermolen dates from 1631. In 1878, a pumping station was installed, but the wind mill has remained in service to this day to lend a hand, because the water in the polder rises fast during a storm.

Ilpendam is a village in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Waterland, and lies about 4 km south of Purmerend. It covers an area of 2.46 km2 (0.95 sq mi) and had 1,780 inhabitants in 2008. Ilpendam was part of the Free and high Lordship of Purmerend, Purmerland and Ilpendam.

Purmerend Overwhere is a suburb railway station in Purmerend, Netherlands. The station opened in 1971, and lies 2 km north of Purmerend. The station is on the Zaandam–Enkhuizen railway.

Purmerbuurt is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland in the polder the Purmer. It is part of the municipality of Purmerend, and is directly connected to the city of Purmerend by an Intersection. The village has its own church, de Purmerkerk. Den Ilp (pronunciation ) is a Dutch village. It is located in the municipality of Landsmeer, North Holland, just north of Amsterdam. The village's population was 809 as of January 2007. In the Netherlands, the village is known for its abundant lighting displays in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Kwadijk is a village and former municipality in the northwest Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Edam-Volendam in the Dutch province of North Holland. Kwadijk is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of Amsterdam and about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north of Purmerend.

Hobrede is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Edam-Volendam, and lies about 4 km northeast of Purmerend. The village was first mentioned in 1639 as Hobreet, and means the main side of the parcel of lands which connect the dike. The width of the land determined the maintenance fee of the farmer for the dike.Hobrede used to have a church, but it was demolished in 1826. In 1840, it was home to 115 people. In 1991, the inhabitants of Hobrede built their own village house.
