Bronx River Road is a major street and neighborhood in Yonkers, New York. It runs alongside the Bronx River, Bronx River Parkway, and Metro-North railroad tracks in south-eastern Yonkers. On the other side of the Bronx River is the City of Mount Vernon, New York as well as the Bronx. Bronx River Road runs down to McLean Avenue at the city line with New York City where it becomes Webster Avenue in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx. To the north, when it reaches the Cross County Parkway, Bronx River Road merges into Midland Avenue which leads to the Village of Bronxville, New York. Bronx River Road is lined with many older, large apartment houses along with several residential blocks with small corner stores. The area could be described as middle class. Though the area is sometimes referred to as Sherwood Park, or Fleetwood, most area residents refer to their neighborhood simply as "Bronx River Road". On March 16, 2003, there was a major fire at the Wakefield Towers apartment building at 85 Bronx River Road. Though there were no serious injuries, the building suffered massive damage, leaving over 300 people homeless. Since then, Wakefield Towers has been gutted, renovated, and rehabilitated, with all its architectural detail (turrets, minarets, etc.) having been restored by February 2007. This neighborhood is one of the most populated in eastern Yonkers.

Wakefield station (also known as Wakefield–East 241st Street station) is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, serving the Wakefield section of the Bronx, New York City. It is the northernmost station on the line before it crosses the New York City limits into Westchester County, New York. It is 12.6 miles (20.3 km) from Grand Central Terminal and travel time there is approximately 29 minutes. The station is located on East 241st Street. The station is the first/last station in the Zone 2 Metro-North fare zone, and is the first/last station of the CityTicket intra-city ticket zone. Though there is no direct connecting bus service at the station, five blocks east from the station is the Wakefield–241st Street station (2 train) on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway, the northernmost station in the system.

It is served by the 2 train at all times. This station is geographically the northernmost station in the entire New York City Subway system.

Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is an 1890s-founded hospital that had been "designated a total-care trauma facility since 1984." In 1986 they expanded and added "a new 20-bed psychiatric unit and a rehabilitation unit." The hospital also formed an AIDS program.The Mount Vernon hospital changed its name to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital when it was taken over by Montefiore Health Systems.

Cross County Center, also known as Cross County Shopping Center, an open-air shopping mall located at the junction of the NYS Thruway and Cross County Parkway, in the Kimball neighborhood of Yonkers, New York, United States. The mall hosts over 100 stores and restaurants, including anchor store Macy's, and is managed by Marx Realty.

The Nereid Avenue station ( NEER-ee-id; formerly East 238th Street station) is a local station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Nereid Avenue (East 238th Street) and White Plains Road in the Bronx. It is served by the 2 train at all times and by the 5 train during rush hours in the peak direction. Nereid Avenue is the northern terminal for all peak-direction rush-hour 5 trains that use this branch. However, all 2 trains terminate at the next stop, Wakefield–241st Street.

It is owned by Vici Properties and operated by MGM Resorts International.

Wakefield is a working-class and middle-class section of the northern borough of the Bronx in New York City. It is bounded by the city's border with Westchester County to the north, East 222nd Street to the south, and the Bronx River Parkway to the west. Wakefield is the northernmost neighborhood in New York City (although the city's northernmost point is actually in Riverdale, at the College of Mount Saint Vincent). Mount Saint Michael Academy is an all-boys Roman Catholic high school in the Wakefield neighborhood of the New York City borough of the Bronx. The school's campus also borders the city of Mount Vernon in neighboring Westchester County and is administered by the Archdiocese of New York. The school opened on September 13, 1926, originally staffed by fourteen Marist Brothers, and dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. The U.S. Department of Education named it a National Blue Ribbon School in 1992.

US Post Office-Mount Vernon is a historic post office building located at Mount Vernon in Westchester County, New York, United States. It was built in 1915 and is one of a number of post offices designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under direction of Oscar Wenderoth. It is a two to three story, symmetrical building faced with limestone in the Classical Revival style. It is composed of a five bay central section with flanking one bay recessed wings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

John Stevens House is a historic home located at Mount Vernon, Westchester County, New York. It was built between 1849 and 1851 and is a five-by-three-bay, 2+1⁄2-story, substantial frame farmhouse. It features a 1-story porch across the front elevation that incorporates six Doric order columns and a dentiled cornice. It was the home of John Stevens (1803–1882), founder of Mount Vernon.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Fleetwood station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, located in the Fleetwood section of Mount Vernon, New York. It is 14.3 miles (23.0 km) from Grand Central Terminal and travel time there is approximately 34 minutes. As of August 2006, daily commuter ridership was 2,355 and there are 654 parking spots. The station is located in the Zone 3 Metro-North fare zone.
