The Pont de Recouvrance (French pronunciation: ​[pɔ̃ də ʁəkuvʁɑ̃s]) is a vertical-lift bridge in Brest, France, across the river Penfeld. Opened on 17 July 1954, it was the largest vertical-lift bridge in Europe until the opening of the Rouen Pont Gustave-Flaubert in 2008. It links the bottom of the rue de Siam to the quartier de Recouvrance, replacing a swing bridge (the pont National) destroyed by Allied bombardment in 1944. Each pylon is 70m high, and the 525-tonne lift span is 88m long.

The Brest Arsenal (French - arsenal de Brest) is a collection of naval and military buildings located on the banks of the river Penfeld, in Brest, France.

La Consulaire is the name of a very large Algerian Barbary artillery piece which famously defended Algiers harbour. It was looted by the French during the Invasion of Algiers in 1830, on 5 July, and taken as a trophy to Brest, where it is still displayed. La Consulaire is a 23 -feet long smoothed-bore muzzle-loading gun, ordered by Hasan Pasha (son of Barbarossa) for the completion of the fortifications of Algiers. It was founded in Algiers in 1542 by a Venetian founder for Hasan Agha. Its original name is Baba Marzug ("lucky father"). The gun was used in 1683 to project the limbs of the consul of France, Jean Le Vacher, towards the fleet of Admiral Duquesne, earning it its name. In 1830, a fleet under Admiral Duperré conquered Algiers and captured the gun. It was brought back to Brest and mounted on a granite stand decorated with high reliefs, and is on display inside the military zone of the Arsenal, near Recouvrance Bridge.

The Château de Brest (Breton: Kastell Brest) is a castle in Brest, Finistère, France. The oldest monument in the town, it is located at the mouth of the river Penfeld at the heart of the roadstead of Brest, one of the largest roadsteads in the world. From the Roman castellum to Vauban's citadel, the site has over 1700 years of history, holding right up to the present day its original role as a military fortress and a strategic location of the highest importance. It is thus the oldest castle in the world still in use, and was classified as a monument historique on 21 March 1923.The structure's heterogeneous architecture has been the result of continual adaptations to developments in siege warfare and armament on land and sea. The château stands on the opposite bank to the Tour Tanguy combining to defend the entrance to the Penfeld.

Recouvrance is the section of the city of Brest, France, on the right bank of the River Penfeld. The popular and historically-Breton quarter is in contrast to the largely-Francophone quarter of Brest-même or Brest-proper, on the left bank. The lift bridge over the Penfeld was named after this neighbourhood, as was a schooner that was built in 1992 in the city.

Rue Saint-Malo is a paved street in Brest, France. It is located in the Carpon valley, against the plateau des Capucins in the Recouvrance quarter. Only its lower half survives, as the oldest street in the city. It runs along the wall of the terrain de la Madeleine, where once stood the convent which took in 'sinful women' and (after the revocation of the edict of Nantes) Huguenots. It is lined with 17th- and 18th-century houses and overlooked by terraced gardens. After its fountain, the road runs into the levée de Pontaniou and ends in the staircase of the Madeleine which leads to the plateau des Capucins.

The Penfeld (French pronunciation: ​[pɛ̃fɛl]; Breton: Penfell) is a 16 km (9.9 mi) French coastal river. The town of Brest, in Finistère, has grown up on its left (east) bank.

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Brest is the main art museum in the city of Brest, Brittany, France, housing French and Italian old masters as well as more modern art. It and most of the city were destroyed by Allied bombing during the Second World War and the building and its collections both had to be recreated in the post-war period,making it what one author has called "the largest collection [of old masters] to have been formed in France since 1945". The museum building was completed in 1968 and is typical of Brest's functional post-war architecture.

The rue de Siam (or Siam Street, Breton: Straed Siam) is the main arterial street of Brest, a port city in Brittany, France. Its name comes from the arrival of three ambassadors led by Kosa Pan, sent by the King of Siam on the 29 June 1686 to meet Louis XIV in Versailles. They went with six mandarins, three translators, two secretaries and a retinue of servants, loaded with presents. They traveled on the boats l'Oiseau and La Maligne. They crossed Saint-Pierre Street to go to the hostel of the same name. The inhabitants were so amazed that they renamed the street. The street was quite narrow before World War II. The rue de Siam is quoted by Jacques Prévert in his poem Barbara. Soi Charoen Krung 36 Alley, the location of French Embassy in Bangkok, was renamed in 2013 to "Rue de Brest" to commemorate diplomatic relations, reciprocating Rue de Siam.

The Church of St Louis is a modernist structure built during the reconstruction of Brest after World War II, on the ruins of the former church of the same name, which was constructed between 1686 and 1785. The church is dedicated to Saint Louis, King of France. Designed by architects Michel, Lacaille, Lechat, Perrin-Houdon, and Weisbein, it is the largest French church rebuilt after the war and was listed as a historical monument in 2018.

The Brest Prison (French - bagne de Brest) was a 254m long prison in Brest, France. It was built between 1749 and 1751 by Antoine Choquet de Lindu, dominating the military port it was built to serve. It could house 3000 prisoners (sometimes as much as 10% of the town's population), children as young as 11 as well as older people. It was closed in 1858, and demolished in the late 1940s.

The Pont de l’Harteloire (French pronunciation: ​[pɔ̃ də laʁtəlwaʁ]) is a bridge in Brest, France. Upstream of the Pont de Recouvrance, it connects the two banks of the river Penfeld and overlooks the arsenal de Brest. It is on the site the naval transporter bridge was destroyed during the Second World War.
