Oldbury Court Estate is a park in Fishponds, Bristol, about 3 miles (4.8 km) north-east of the city centre. It is a park of Bristol City Council, and is listed Grade II in English Heritage's Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. Its area is 23.33 hectares (57.6 acres); the parkland contains woods and riverside wildlife. The paths along the River Frome form part of the Frome Valley Walkway. There are picnic areas and a children's play park.

Frome Vale is one of thirty-five city council wards in Bristol, England, lying northeast of the city centre. It includes the suburbs of Broomhill and Fishponds, and also the Glenside campus of the University of the West of England. The ward is named after the River Frome.

Fishponds railway station was a station in Fishponds, Bristol, England, a victim of Dr Beeching's cuts in the 1960s. Fishponds station was just south of where Morrisons supermarket car park is today. The railway line was built in 1835 for transport of coal from Coalpit Heath to industry in the centre of Bristol. The station, originally named Fish Ponds, was opened in March 1866, and was renamed Stapleton on 1 April 1866. It was part of the Bristol to Birmingham line of the Midland Railway. The station was renamed Fish Ponds on 1 January 1867, and Fishponds on 1 May 1939. It had two platforms plus a shunting line constructed in 1905 for the Avonside Locomotive Works to move their newly built locomotives onto the main line.

Mayfield Park is a residential area in East Bristol, with a large adjoining park known as the Ridgeway Rd Playing Fields.The area is located on the outskirts of the outer urban area of Fishponds and consists mainly of four roads: Mayfield Park, Mayfield Park North, Mayfield Park South and Mayfield Avenue. It is also near the main road of Berkeley Road and the outer urban area with the name of Speedwell, and adjacent to Chester Park. The area has a population of 1,730 (est).

Fishponds is a large suburb in the north-east of the English city of Bristol, about 3 miles (5 km) from the city centre. It has two large Victorian-era parks: Eastville Park and Vassall's Park (once the Vassall Family estate, also known as Oldbury Court). The River Frome runs through both with the Frome Valley Walkway alongside it. A restored mill found at Snuff Mills near the Vassall's Park end of the river has kept its original waterwheel, which can still be seen and heard turning. Eastville Park has a large boating lake with central wildlife reserves. Fishponds is mainly residential. Two main bus routes pass through. Housing is typically terraced Victorian. The high street shops include an international supermarket, Asian food store, charity shops, takeaways and Lidl, Aldi and Morrisons supermarkets. It has a small student population from the presence of the Glenside campus of the University of the West of England. The name Fishponds derives from when it was a quarry district, like nearby Soundwell. The empty quarries became large fishponds, which have since been filled in. One remained until the mid-1970s, when it was officially closed: a popular swimming area named "The Lido" by locals. It now belongs to an angling club.

On 3 May 2026, 41-year-old Ryan Kelly forced his way into the home of his former partner, 35-year-old Jo Shaw, while carrying an explosive device thought to be a hand grenade. At 6:32 a.m.—following an approximately 15 minutes standoff between Kelly and members of the household—Kelly detonated the device, killing both himself and Shaw and injuring three others.

Lodge Causeway is an ancient passage through the former Royal Forest of Kingswood and now the main road between Fishponds and Kingswood in Bristol, England. The road is designated the B4048. The Causeway led to Kingswood Lodge at the top of Lodge Hill, recorded in use since Saxon times when kings used the forest for hunting whilst resident at the palace at Pucklechurch, where King Edmund was murdered by an outlaw in 946. It passes through the Fishponds suburbs of Hillfields, Mayfield Park and Chester Park.

Bristol Metropolitan Academy, formerly Whitefield Fishponds Community School and later Bristol Metropolitan College, is an academy in Fishponds, Bristol, England.

Snuff Mills is a park in the Stapleton area of north Bristol, also known as Whitwood Mill. There are pleasant walks along the steep wooded banks of the River Frome, for example to Oldbury Court. The park was purchased in 1926 by the Corporation of Bristol as "a pleasure walk for citizens of Bristol" and restored in the 1980s by the Fishponds Local History Society. The park's name originates from one of the millers. His nickname was 'Snuffy Jack' because his smock was always covered in snuff.The park includes an old quarry and a stone mill. The old mill within the park was used for cutting and crushing stone from the many quarries along the Frome Valley during the late 19th century. It contains a waterwheel, egg-ended boiler in its setting and the remains of a vertical steam engine. Despite the name, tobacco snuff was never ground in this mill. Today, Snuff Mills is still a popular site for locals and visitors who come to enjoy the tranquility and natural surroundings. This stretch of the River Frome is also home to some of Bristol's otters.

Blackberry Hill Hospital is an NHS psychiatric hospital in Fishponds, Bristol, England, specialising in forensic mental health services, operated by the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. The hospital also offers drug and alcohol rehabilitation inpatient services, and is the base for a number of community mental health teams.Opened as a prison in 1779, many of its buildings and the co-located Glenside campus of the University of the West of England (UWE) are Grade II listed. From 1948 until 2005, the site was also a geriatric hospital, for many of those years being the major geriatric hospital in South West England. In 2009, 21 acres (8.5 ha) of the site, incorporating the oldest buildings, was sold to the UK Government's Homes and Communities Agency, for redevelopment as part of a wider regeneration project.

Glenside campus is the home of the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), in Bristol. It is located on Blackberry Hill in the suburb of Fishponds. Its clocktower is a prominent landmark, visible from the M32 motorway. Several of the buildings on the site are Grade II listed.

Beaufort War Hospital was a military hospital in Stapleton district, now Greater Fishponds, of Bristol during the First World War. Before the war, it was an asylum called the Bristol Lunatic Asylum, and after the war it became the psychiatric hospital called Glenside Hospital.
