Swanton Novers

Swanton Novers Woods is an 83-hectare (210-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Fakenham in Norfolk. The site is composed of Swanton Great Wood, Little Wood, Barney Wood and Guybon's Wood. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I. Swanton Great Wood and Little Wood are designated Swanton Novers National Nature ReserveThese ancient woods are almost certainly of primary origin, and they are regarded as one of the most important groups of woods in the country. The trees and ground flora are exceptionally diverse, and they include the nationally rare may lily.The site is currently closed to the public although the main public footpaths are still accessible.

Melton Constable was a railway station on the Midland and Great Northern Railway which served the North Norfolk village of Melton Constable from 1882 to 1964. Notwithstanding its rural location, the station became an important railway centre with lines converging from all directions providing connections to key East Anglian towns such as King's Lynn, Norwich, Cromer, Fakenham, Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Although long since demolished, there is a possibility that the station may yet be resurrected as part of the proposed Norfolk Orbital Railway.

Melton Constable is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 6.96 km2 (2.69 sq mi) and had a population of 518 in 225 households at the 2001 census. The population had increased to 618 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of North Norfolk. The village sits on fairly high ground south-west of Holt. The place-name Melton Constable is first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as Maeltuna. This may mean either 'middle town' or 'mill town'. There is a reference to 'Constabularius de Melton' in 1197, as the land was held by the constable of the bishop of Norwich.Melton Constable Hall is regarded as the finest specimen of the Christopher Wren style of house. The parish church of St Peter's, Melton Constable is located within Melton Constable park; it contains many monuments to the Astley family, who formerly resided at Melton Constable Hall. The village was struck by an F0/T1 tornado on 23 November 1981, as part of the record-breaking nationwide tornado outbreak on that day.The River Bure has its source in the parish, just south of the village, roughly half-way between the village and the parish church.

Thursford railway station was a station in Norfolk, England on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line between Melton Constable and South Lynn. It was closed in 1959 along with the rest of the line. It served the settlement of Thursford, where Station Road remains as a reminder.

The villages name means 'Giant ford' or 'demon ford'.Thursford parish church is dedicated to St Andrew and has some fine examples of Victorian stained glass windows. The church was rebuilt in the early 1860s with money given by the Chadd family who lived in the nearby Thursford Hall.

Hindolvestone railway station was in North Norfolk, England. It was part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway branch from Melton Constable to Norwich. It opened in 1882 and closed in 1959. It served the small village of Hindolveston. The station was spelled with an 'e' on the end although OS maps show it without.According to the Official Handbook of Stations the following classes of traffic were being handled at this station in 1956: G* & P and there was no crane.
