Monroe County Courthouse (Indiana)

Courthouse Square Historic District is a national historic district located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The district encompasses 57 contributing buildings in the central business district of Bloomington. It developed between about 1847 and 1936, and includes notable examples of Classical Revival, Beaux Arts and Italianate style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed Bloomington City Hall, Monroe County Courthouse, Princess Theatre, and Wicks Building. Other notable buildings include the Federal Building (c. 1912), Masonic Temple, former Faulkner Hotel (c. 1847), Odd Fellows Building (1892), Allen Building (1907), First National Bank Building (1907), Knights of Pythias Building (1907), and Graham Hotel Building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Wicks Building is a historic commercial building on Courthouse Square in downtown Bloomington, Indiana, United States. Built in the early twentieth century in a distinctive style of architecture, it has remained in consistent commercial use throughout its history, and it has been named a historic site because of the importance of its architecture.

Waldron Arts Center, also known as the Old City Hall and Fire Station, is a historic city hall located at Bloomington, Indiana. It was built in 1915, and is a three-story, rectangular, Beaux-Arts style limestone building. Additions were made in 1950 and 1972. It features a modest entrance portico.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It is located in the Courthouse Square Historic District.

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater, formerly the Indiana Theater, is a historic theater in Bloomington, Indiana. Originally built for vaudeville in 1922, it was also used for silent films and became a movie theater. More recently it was renovated for use as a performing arts venue. It hosts a variety of shows and performances. The theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The theater is located in the Courthouse Square Historic District. The theater has a distinctive red neon marquee that says "Indiana". The theater was built in Spanish mission revival architecture style and held 616 seats when it was built. It is known locally as the "Indiana Theater" or the "Bus-Chum". It was used as a movie theater until 1995 when it was donated to the community for use as a performing arts center. The theater is located at 114 East Kirkwood Avenue.

Cantol Wax Company Building, also known as Oakes Manufacturing Company Building and Wylie's Furniture Warehouse, is a historic industrial / commercial building located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. It was built between about 1905 and 1907, and consists of a 3+1⁄2-story, rectangular, front section, and 2+1⁄2-story rear addition. The masonry building has a rubble limestone foundation, terra cotta block walls, and Classical Revival style design elements. It was originally constructed for the Oakes Manufacturing Company, then housed the Cantol Wax Company after 1920.: 2, 7 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It is located in the Bloomington West Side Historic District.

The WonderLab Museum of Science, Health & Technology is a science museum located in the city of Bloomington, Indiana, United States. It was incorporated in 1995 as a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. WonderLab is a member of the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

Monroe Carnegie Library, also known as Old Monroe Carnegie Library, is a historic Carnegie library located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. It was built in 1917, and is a one-story, rectangular, Neoclassical style limestone building on a raised basement. The Monroe County History Center is a history museum the historic library building that was established as a Carnegie library. The museum is located on the site of Center School in the former Bloomington Public Library building. The library building is now home to the Monroe County Historical Society, their collection of artifacts, and their Genealogy Library. A historical marker is present at the site. The History Center is located at 202 East 6th Street. It is a tourist attraction.The building measures approximately 50 feet by 40 feet, and has a two-story concrete block addition built in 1955. It features arched windows and a projecting arched entryway topped by a pagoda style roof. It was constructed with a $31,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation.: 2–3  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The Monroe County Public Library vacated the building in 1970; by 1978 and through the 1980s it was used by various nonprofits. On April 27th of 1985 Glenn Danzig's Deathrock band Samhain (band) performed there during their Unholy Passion EP tour. Since 1994, the former library houses the Monroe County Historical Society.

The Bloomington freight station is a historic train station in downtown Bloomington, Indiana, United States. Constructed in the early twentieth century, it has endured closure and a series of modifications to survive to the present day, and it has been declared a historic site. Used only occasionally for many years, it is one of the most important buildings in a large historic district on the city's west side.

Millen-Chase-McCalla House, also known as the Topolgus Building, is a historic home located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built in 1844, and now forms the two-story brick rear wing. The two-story, brick main section was added in 1854, to form a two-thirds I-house. The house was remodeled in 1871 in a combination of Greek Revival and Italianate style architecture. It rests on a limestone foundation and has a side-gable roof. The interior has undergone renovation for commercial uses a number of times; in 2011 it was rehabilitated for use as a restaurant.: 4–5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company Plant is a historic Coca-Cola bottling plant located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built in 1924, and is a two-story, roughly square, red brick building. A one-story section was added in a renovation of 1938–1939, along with Art Deco style design elements on the original building. It closed as a bottling plant in 1989, and subsequently converted for commercial uses.: 5, 14 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Johnson's Creamery is a historic creamery building located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built about 1914, and is a two-story, rectangular, red brick building. Additions were made to the original building until 1951, and are all constructed of red brick with parapets. The iconic smokestack dates to 1949. Johnson's Creamery vacated the building in 1987.: 5–6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It is located in the Bloomington West Side Historic District.

Monroe County Public Library (MCPL) serves the 138,000 citizens of Monroe County, Indiana, through the Main Library in downtown Bloomington, the Ellettsville Branch, and the Bookmobile. The library’s special services include the Learn and Play Space, a preschool discovery center; VITAL, an adult literacy program; CATS, a five-channel community access television network; the Indiana Room, a local history and genealogy collection and grants center (part of the Foundation Center’s Cooperating Collections National Network); and service to inmates at the Monroe County Correctional Center.
