Derks Field was a minor league baseball park in the western United States, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was the home field of the Salt Lake Bees, Angels, and Gulls of the Pacific Coast League, Bees, Giants, and Trappers of the Pioneer Baseball League, and the Salt Lake Sting of the American Professional Soccer League. Opened in 1928 as Community Park, the ballpark's final seating capacity was 10,000. In 1940, it was named for Salt Lake Tribune sports editor John C. Derks (1873–1944).Derks Field had replaced the previous professional ballpark, Bonneville Park (originally called Majestic Park), which was south of 9th Street between State Street and Main Street, on the site of an amusement park called the Salt Palace, which had been destroyed by fire in 1910. It operated from 1915 through 1927. As part of the construction of the new Community Park, the Bonneville stands were taken down and reassembled at the new site.[Salt Lake Deseret News, September 25, 1946, p.3] Destroyed by arson on the night of September 24, 1946, it reopened in May 1947, and was expanded in 1958 with the return of the PCL.Major League Baseball teams occasionally played exhibition games at Derks Field, including the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates and the 1964 Milwaukee Braves.The field was aligned to the southeast, with a view of the Wasatch Range, and its elevation was 4,230 feet (1,290 m) above sea level. Its successor, Smith's Ballpark, opened on the same site 29 years ago in 1994.

Smith's Ballpark (formerly known as Franklin Quest Field, later Franklin Covey Field, and more recently Spring Mobile Ballpark) is a minor league baseball park in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the home field of the Salt Lake Bees of the Pacific Coast League and the collegiate Utah Utes of the Pac-12 Conference.

South High School was a high school in Salt Lake City, Utah, which operated from 1931 to 1988. The school was located on the southern end of Salt Lake City proper, at 1575 S. State Street. The school is now a campus of Salt Lake Community College.

The Joe Hill House was a Catholic Worker Movement house of hospitality in Salt Lake City, Utah co-founded in 1961 by Ammon Hennacy and Mary Lathrop. Providing social services and housing to the homeless, the Joe Hill House operated until 1968. Ammon Hennacy stated that the two rules of the Joe Hill House were "No drinking and no cops.". One of the prominent features of the Joe Hill House was an enormous twelve feet by fifteen foot mural of IWW songwriter Joe Hill and Jesus Christ, painted by Mary Lathrop. American radical folk singer Utah Phillips worked at the Joe Hill House for eight years where he was introduced by Ammon Hennacy to Christian pacifism and Christian anarchism. The Joe Hill House of Hospitality was rebuilt by Hal Noakes and John Chanonat, editor of the Utah Free Press who was deported in 1970. The Joe Hill House was then located to 1462 S 4th W, two blocks away from the Vitro smokestack. Just before the death of Ammon Hennacy, it was closed by the Utah Migrant Council.

Jackson Square is an early subdivision of Salt Lake City, Utah developed by Kimball and Richards Land Merchants in 1909. The neighborhood's boundaries are 200 East, 300 East, and what was then described as 9th South and 10th South. The streets include Hampton Avenue, Kelsey Avenue, and Edith Avenue (today's 1130 South, 1165 South and 1205 South, respectively).

900 South is a light rail station in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States, served by all three lines of Utah Transit Authority's TRAX light rail system. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper. The Red Line provides service from the University of Utah to the Daybreak community of South Jordan. The Green Line provides service from the Salt Lake City International Airport to West Valley City (via Downtown Salt Lake City). The station opened on September 19, 2005, and is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. 900 South is notable for being the first infill station constructed along an existing line of the TRAX system.

The First Encampment Park is a public pocket park in the Liberty Wells neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah. It is near the location where the initial group of Mormon pioneers spent their first night in what was then Mexico's Salt Lake Valley, on July 22, 1847. Meant to honor this first encampment in the valley, the park was dedicated on July 22, 1997, exactly 150 years after the event. Developed by local congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), the park was donated to the people of Salt Lake City.

South Salt Lake City is a streetcar stop in South Salt Lake, Utah, in the United States, served by Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) S Line (previously known as the Sugar House Streetcar). The S Line provides service from the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City to the city of South Salt Lake (where it connects with UTA's TRAX light rail system).

Degrees awarded by WGU are accredited by the NWCCU, ACBSP, CAEP, CAHIIM, and CCNE. The university was founded by 19 U.S. governors in 1997 after the idea was formulated at a 1995 meeting of the Western Governors Association to expand education offerings to the internet.

Historically, the city of Salt Lake City, Utah, had a Chinatown that was located in a section called "Plum Alley" that contained a Chinese population that worked in the mining camps and the transcontinental railroad. The first Chinese peoples came in the 1860s and had formed a historical Chinatown in a section called "Plum Alley" on Second South Street which lasted until 1952. The area had a network of laundromats, restaurants and oriental specialty shops. While most residents kept within their micro-community, the residents did take part in some local Salt Lake City traditions. According to the tourist sign located at the former Chinatown, the Salt Lake City's New Year's Day Parade featured a "200 foot long Chinese dragon." According to KUED, around 1,800 Chinese lived here with "... a network of laundries, restaurants, Oriental specialty shops..." and "... gambling joints, providing the social outlet for many of the lonely residents..." who were bachelors, but Plum Alley was eventually razed "... and was replaced by Regent Street Parking Terrace".Josie Manwill of Brigham Young University notes the effects of anti-Chinese sentiment and the Chinese Exclusion Act but attributes the decline of Salt Lake City's Chinatown primarily to the Great Depression.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, is a Latin diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. Its boundaries are coterminous with the state of Utah. Its mother church is the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City and it is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. On January 10, 2017, Pope Francis appointed Oscar Azarcon Solis, then an auxiliary bishop of Los Angeles, the 10th bishop of Salt Lake City.
