Heemstedestraat is an Amsterdam Metro station in the west of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1997 and is served by line 50 (Isolatorweg - Gein) and line 51 (Isolatorweg - Central Station). The station lies in the south of the city and serves as the metro station for many offices, including the World Fashion Centre.

Postjesweg is a metro station in Amsterdam Nieuw-West and is served by GVB metro line 50 and 51. There is also a bus stop of line 18 at the north side of the main entrance.

Slotervaart (short for Tuinstad Slotervaart) is a neighborhood in the far western part of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The area is named after the canal Slotervaart; the first houses were built in 1955. Just outside the residential area there is a hospital, the Slotervaartziekenhuis (since 1976), and the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) (since 1979).Since 1990 Slotervaart was a part of the urban district of Slotervaart-Overtoomse Veld, which was renamed in 2004 as shortly Slotervaart. In 2010 however this borough was merged with surrounding boroughs into the larger borough Amsterdam Nieuw-West.

Slotervaart is a former district of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It had a population of 48,540 inhabitants in 2008 and an area of 11.14 km². As of 2010, Slotervaart is part of the newly formed stadsdeel Nieuw-West. Slotervaart has a significant immigrant population; 33% of the inhabitants are from Morocco, 21% are from Turkey, and 5% are from Suriname. In 2007, Slotervaart youngsters burned cars and threw stones at the police after a stabbing accident at the Allebeplein, where the police killed a Moroccan boy. At the edge of Slotervaart is the Sloterpark, a recreational location popular among young families with children, and also among men who have sex with men for whom the park is a famous cruising spot. The different clienteles traditionally frequent separate areas of the large park. Sometimes, homosexual tourists (who visit Slotervaart for its famous park) have not been aware of this distinction, and this has led to incidents of gay bashing. In early 2009 signs were erected pointing out the "family" and "cruising" areas. Areas that were part of the borough included the smaller neighborhood of Slotervaart, Overtoomse Veld, and Nieuw Sloten.

Overtoomse Veld is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is named for the Overtoomse Sluis, which was an old portage point dating from the 14th century on a major cargo route to and from Amsterdam at the junction of two waterschap areas, Hoogheemraadschap van Rijnland and Hoogheemraadschap van Amstelland. The Blue Mosque (Dutch: Blauwe Moskee) is a mosque and cultural center in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, the Netherlands. Construction of the mosque was financed by the government of Kuwait through the offices of Europe Trust Netherlands and began in 2008. The mosque is architecturally significant for both its blue color and the fact that the structure lacks traditional minarets and other symbols associated with Muslim places of worship.

Rembrandtpark (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɛmbrɑntˌpɑr(ə)k]) is an urban park in Nieuw-West, Amsterdam, Netherlands. The park is named after the 17th-century painter Rembrandt. The park was completed in 1973 and has a surface area of 45 hectares (110 acres) which includes a petting zoo and playgrounds.In the park, 37 bird species including the common buzzard (Buteo buteo), 35 bee species including the orange-horned nomad bee (Nomada fulvicornis), and 6 bat species including the pond bat (Myotis dasycneme) have been observed.The park has been the site of several local festivals.
