Dobongsan

Camp Jackson is a United States Army camp south of Camp Red Cloud (in Uijeongbu) and 20 miles south of the city of Uijeongbu at the throat of the Uijeongbu Corridor, on the National Highway 3 now in the far northern Dobong-gu suburb of Seoul. It was one of the smallest US military installations in South Korea. The camp was named after Private First Class George W. Jackson who was awarded the Silver Star during the Korean War. The US Eighth Army had an NCO Academy at Camp Jackson. The KATUSA Training Academy operated a 19-day course which involves subjects essential to function with the American units, such as nuclear, biological and chemical training, how to put on and work in a protective mask, the M16 rifle, first aid, land navigation, military customs courtesies, and English classes. Instructors at KTA are volunteers from the ranks of the US Army, ROK Army, and KATUSA. Personnel stationed at Camp Jackson were eligible for Hardship Pay.Camp Jackson was handed back over to the South Korean government as part of the USFK transformation plan by 2016.

Indianhead International School is located in Howon-Dong, Uijeongbu, South Korea. It is adjacent to Dobongsan. It is run in conjunction with Shin Heung University. The incumbent chairman is Park Jeong-jin, and the ex-chairman of the school is a Korean representative Kang Sung-Jong, of the Democratic Party of South Korea. However, due to an embezzlement scandal involving the former chairman of the school, who channeled approximately 3.6 billion Korean Won of tuition to his personal use, the school's reputation plummeted and its budget was crippled. Several teachers have also complained implicitly that they have not been compensated for their work a number of years ago. Reports say that the teacher situation in regards to pay was resolved around 2007. A sizeable portion of the parents and the students left Indianhead International School, with some headed to Korean public schools while others, to other international schools in Korea. During the academic year of 2010–11, Chairman Park Jeong-Jin, a relative of Rep. Kang Sung-Jong, declared that the school will move to Jeju Island and double the tuition fee; the Parent-Teacher Association responded with dissent both within and against the chairman and many parents have said that they will leave to other educational institutions. Although the consensus of the Parent-Teacher Association was that the school should continue to operate, many members in the PTA disagreed on the means by which the school should be restored to its normal function. Most recently, Indianhead International School declined the opportunity to continue administering the SATs as they no longer have the personnel to staff the events. Since an international school is required to replace Indianhead International School as an SAT test center, the International Christian School in Uijeongbu was assigned as the new testing center in the region. It is estimated that, due to lack of families contributing their tuition fees, the Indianhead International School will cease to function after the graduating class of 2012 or 2013.

Dobong District (Korean: 도봉구; Hanja: 道峰區; RR: Dobong-gu) is one of the 25 districts of Seoul, South Korea. As of 2020, Dobong has a population of 315,979 and an area of 20.71 square kilometres (8.00 sq mi), and is divided into four administrative neighborhoods. The district is located in northeastern Seoul, bordering the Gyeonggi Province cities of Yangju and Uijeongbu to the north, and the districts of Gangbuk to the southwest and Nowon to the east.

Dobongsan Station is a subway station on the Seoul Subway Line 1 and Line 7. It is the closest station to Mt. Dobong, where its name also comes from.This station is geographically the northernmost station in Seoul. In addition, the Line 7 station is a transfer station operated by Seoul Metro that is not underground.

Dobong-dong is a dong, a neighbourhood of Dobong-gu in Seoul, South Korea. The dong is one of the four located in the Dobong District. According to the Köppen–Geiger climate classification system, the region is Dwa, or a humid continental climate. The average temperature is 11.1°C and approximately 147.5 cm of precipitation falls annually. The postal code for Dobong-dong is 132-010. The region is also referred to as Tobong-dong.

Mangwolsa Station is a metro station on Seoul Subway Line 1. Named after a Silla-era Buddhist temple in the mountains to the west, it is the first station for services leaving Seoul heading north, and lies in the city of Uijeongbu.

Dobong Station is a metro station on Seoul Subway Line 1. It is in the extreme north of Seoul and offers services connecting the city to the cities to the north in Gyeonggi-do.

Banghak-dong is a dong, neighbourhood of Dobong-gu in Seoul, South Korea.

Jangam Station is the northern terminus of the Seoul Subway Line 7, and is the only station on this line to be located outside the northern precincts of Seoul. This station is located within the train servicing depot, and has the lowest ridership out of all Line 7 stations. Much of the demand for this station comes from people hiking nearby Mt. Surak on weekends.

The Bukhansan National Park (Korean: 북한산국립공원, 北漢山國立公園) in Seoul and Gyeonggi covers an area of 79.92 km2 (30.86 sq mi) and was established on 2 April 1983. Bukhansan means "mountains north of the Han River." The park contains forested areas, temples and granite peaks. The three main peaks are Baekundae, 836.5 m (2,744 ft), Insubong, 810.5 m (2,659 ft) and Mangnyeongdae, 799.5 m (2,623 ft). Due to its popularity with hikers and Seoul residents, some trails are closed on a rotation basis to protect the local environment. The Bukhansanseong Fortress is located in the park, together with its 9.5 km (5.9 mi) long defensive wall. A fortress was first built on this site in 132 AD to protect Seoul from foreign invasions, and it was expanded to its current size in 1711. It was reconstructed after damage sustained in the Korean War. Despite its name, this mountain is in Seoul, South Korea, so this mountain should not be confused with North Korea (also referred to as 북한, bukhan).

Hoeryong Station is a metro station on Seoul Subway Line 1. In July 2012 it became a transfer station to the U Line. It lies in the city of Uijeongbu.

Beomgol Station (Korean: 범골역) is a station of the U Line in Shingok-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
