The Haslingden Canal was a proposed canal link between the Bury arm of the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal in Greater Manchester, England, and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Accrington, England, passing through Haslingden. 53°42′N 2°18′W Authorised by an Act of Parliament in 1794, the canal was not built.The proposed canal would have been broad gauge, 13 miles (21 km) in length, and would have used an inclined plane in place of locks.

It was formerly on the national railway network on the line to Bacup as well as Bury and Manchester. The Association of Train Operating Companies have identified that the community of Rawtenstall on the East Lancashire Railway Heritage Railway could benefit from services connecting the station to the National Network.

Haslingden is a town in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. It is 16 miles (26 km) north of Manchester. The name means 'valley of the hazels' or 'valley growing with hazels'. At the time of the 2011 census the town (including Helmshore) had a population of 15,969. The town is surrounded by high moorland; 370 m (1215 ft) to the north; 396 m (1300 ft) Cribden to the east; 418 m (1372 ft) Bull Hill to the south.Haslingden is the birthplace of the industrialist John Cockerill (1790–1840) and the composer Alan Rawsthorne (1905–1971), and was the home for many years of the Irish Republican leader, Michael Davitt (1846–1906). Haslingden Cricket Club is a member of the Lancashire League.

The River Ogden is a minor river in Lancashire, England. It is approximately 4.4 miles (7.1 km) long and has a catchment area of 9.77 square miles (25.298 km2).Beginning on the moors of Haslingden Grane as Ogden Brook, it heads east, feeding Ogden and Calf Hey Reservoirs. It then passes through the Holden Wood Reservoir and collects Swinnel Brook in an area historically known as the Trippet of Ogden, becoming the River Ogden. Turning to the south, it passes through the Helmshore part of Haslingden where it is met by Musbury Brook and then Alden Brook, overlooked by Musbury Tor. Heading southeast it joins the River Irwell at Irwell Vale, between Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom near grid reference SD792202.

Rawtenstall Library is a Carnegie Library located in the town of Rawtenstall, Lancashire. Plans for a new library in Rawtenstall were drawn up in 1903 following the promise of a donation of £6,000 from the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Originally the building was to have included an Assembly Room and Town Hall but the full proposals failed through lack of funding and it was just the library building that was constructed and officially opened in 1907. The library was administered by the Borough of Rawtenstall until Local Government reorganisation in 1974 since when it has been managed by Lancashire County Council.

Haslingden railway station served the town of Haslingden, Rossendale, Lancashire. The station was built by the East Lancashire Railway (ELR) on their Bury to Accrington line and opened on 17 August 1848. In 1959, the ELR was incorporated into the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, who operated it until 1923 when it became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway. Owned by the London Midland Region of British Railways from 1948, it was closed on 7 November 1960. The route through the station closed on 5 December 1966 and the tracks were subsequently lifted.
