Haslingden railway station

Haslingden is a town in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. It is 16 miles (26 km) north of Manchester. The name means 'valley of the hazels' or 'valley growing with hazels'. At the time of the 2011 census the town (including Helmshore) had a population of 15,969. The town is surrounded by high moorland; 370 m (1215 ft) to the north; 396 m (1300 ft) Cribden to the east; 418 m (1372 ft) Bull Hill to the south.Haslingden is the birthplace of the industrialist John Cockerill (1790–1840) and the composer Alan Rawsthorne (1905–1971), and was the home for many years of the Irish Republican leader, Michael Davitt (1846–1906). Haslingden Cricket Club is a member of the Lancashire League.

Acre is a Victorian village situated along the A56 Blackburn Road between the village of Rising Bridge and the town of Haslingden in Rossendale Lancashire, about one mile north of Haslingden town centre. It was founded in 1861.

Bent Gate is a suburb of Haslingden, Lancashire, England, approximately one mile south of Haslingden town centre. Haslingden Cricket Club's ground, called Bentgate, has been here since 1853.

Baxenden railway station served the villages of Baxenden in Hyndburn and Rising Bridge in Rossendale. It was situated just inside the old boundary of Haslingden on the line from Bury Bolton Street to Accrington, which was opened in 1848 by the East Lancashire Railway. The station gave its name to the nearby Baxenden Bank, the two-mile section towards Accrington that included gradients as steep as 1 in 38. The Accrington Corporation Steam Tramways Company built a tramline from Accrington in 1887 that terminated at the station. The station closed to passengers in 1951, some fifteen years before the line serving it suffered a similar fate.

Rossendale General Hospital was an acute general hospital at Rawtenstall in Lancashire. It was managed by the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Haslingden High School is a secondary school located in Haslingden, Rossendale, England. The school receives children from many local primary schools, one of the largest being Haslingden Primary School.

The Valley Leadership Academy (formerly Fearns Community Sports College) is an 11–16 co-educational secondary school with academy status in Stacksteads, Bacup, Lancashire, England. It was formerly a community school and adopted its present name after becoming an academy in July 2019. It is part of Star Academies.

Helmshore Mills are two mills built on the River Ogden in Helmshore, Lancashire. Higher Mill was built in 1796 for William Turner, and Whitaker's Mill was built in the 1820s by the Turner family. In their early life they alternated between working wool and cotton. By 1920 they were working shoddy as condensor mule mills; and equipment has been preserved and is still used. The mills closed in 1967 and they were taken over by the Higher Mills Trust, whose trustees included historian and author Chris Aspin and politician Dr Rhodes Boyson, who maintained it as a museum. The mills are said to the most original and best-preserved examples of both cotton spinning and woollen fulling left in the country that are still operational. Following the withdrawal of its grant from Lancashire County Council, the museum closed to the public on 30 September 2016 for an indefinite period. However, the museum remained open for pre-booked school visits. In April 2018 the council announced that the museums would reopen to the general public for three days a week between April and November.

Helmshore () is a village in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire, England, south of Haslingden between the A56 and the B6235, 16 miles (26 km) north of Manchester. The population at the 2011 census was 5,805. The housing in Helmshore is mixed, with some two-up, two-down terraces, top-and-bottom houses and a few surviving back-to-back cottages. Between the 1970s and 2020 new housing estates have proliferated.

The River Hyndburn is a minor river in Lancashire, England. Beginning as Woodnook Water on the slopes of Goodshaw Hill, it passes through Stone Fold, Rising Bridge and Baxenden where it is augmented by streams from Thirteen Stone Hill and continues to the Woodnook area of Accrington. Near St James Church, it collects Broad Oak Water (recorded in 1800 as the River Grange), becoming the River Hyndburn. It heads northward through the town centre, collecting Pleck Brook and turning west, flowing under the East Lancashire railway line viaduct and continuing to Church. Here it turns northward again, meeting Hyndburn Brook just before it passes under the M65 motorway bridge to the south of Dunkenhalgh, which continues past Clayton-le-Moors and Great Harwood, ultimately joining the River Calder. Today, much of the course of the river and parts of its tributaries run underground through culverts. The Hyndburn borough of Lancashire is named after the river.
