The Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences (HvA), or Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), is a large institute for higher professional education in the Netherlands, established in 1993. The HvA mainly offers bachelor's degree programmes, but also has a number of (professional) master's degree programmes. For students from the HvA's international partner institutes it is possible to study at the HvA as an exchange student. The HvA offers eighty courses of study, spread across locations in Amsterdam. The university maintains ties with the University of Amsterdam. The HvA's 2,300 employees serve more than 40,000 students. An important way of learning is via work placements. All students at the HvA have a practical work period in order to get on-the-job experience in the field of their study. Such a work placement can be at a company or organisation in the Netherlands or abroad. Most of the teaching at the HvA is organised in modules, which are given in four periods of ten weeks or in two semesters.

Rembrandt Tower (Dutch: Rembrandttoren) is an office skyscraper in Amsterdam. It has a height of 135 metres, 36 floors and it has a spire which extends its height to 150 metres. It was constructed from 1991 to 1994. The building's foundation required piles 56 metres long and two metres in diameter. The building was designed by the architects Peter de Clercq Zubli and Tom van der Put from ZZDP Architecten, in cooperation with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill from SOM, and was owned by William F. McCarter, currently owned by MBM Corporative Worldwide INC.

The Mondriaan Tower (Dutch: Mondriaantoren) is a skyscraper in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is the second tallest building in the city. The tower is located at the omval, an island in the Amstel river. The Mondriaantoren is 125 meters high and has 32 floors. It was opened in 2001, the tower is named for the old Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan. The head office of Delta lloyd is based in the tower. It has a floor space of 32,000 m2.

NIPO Software was founded by Arnoud van Zanten in the 1970s as a department of NIPO, the market research institute, now Kantar TNS Netherlands. The NIPO name originally stood for Netherlands Institute of Public Opinion, which was established by Wim de Jonge and Jan Stapel in September 1945. In 1986 NIPO (Software) became an independent company from the research institute to be able to cater for both internal as external customers. In 1999 NIPO was purchased by Taylor Nelson Sofres, now called Kantar TNS.NIPO is a member of ESOMAR. NIPO is ISO 27001:2013 certified.

Spaklerweg is an Amsterdam Metro station in the industrial area Overamstel of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1982 and is served by 3 lines, the 51 (Amsterdam Centraal - Isolaterweg), 53 (Amsterdam Centraal - Gaasperplas) and 54 (Amsterdam Centraal - Gein). The metro station is only accessible with an OV-chipkaart or GVB Travel Pass. Change at this station between lines 51 and 53/54.

Amsteldorp is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The neighborhood dates from the 1920s but many houses were built in 1947-48 and in the 1950s. The Amstel Station is located within this area, which was built in 1939, and the tallest building in the neighbourhood is Rembrandt Tower, with a height of 150 metres.

The Bijlmerbajes was a prison complex (which was permanently closed in June 2016) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, near the Amsterdam Amstel railway station. The official name is Penitentiaire Inrichting Over-Amstel, although it is also known as Penitentiaire Inrichting De Stadspoort or Penitentiaire Inrichtingen Amsterdam. Bijlmerbajes is part of the Custodial Institutions Agency (Dienst Justitiële Inrichtingen, DJI) of the Dutch Ministry of Justice within the Dutch criminal justice system. The building was designed as a humane prison without bars over the windows and was opened in 1978. However it turned out that the glass of the windows was not completely unbreakable, so bars were retroactively fitted, known as lamellen. The complex consists of 6 towers with small divisions. The towers are connected by a tunnel through the prison, known as the 'Kalverstraat'. The main entrance to the prison is 150 metres (490 ft) from the Spaklerweg metro station. The alliterative name Bijlmerbajes was presumably acquired because the tower complex was constructed at the same time as highrise construction in the neighbouring Bijlmermeer, with bajes a Dutch slang term for "prison".

Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis (English: "Our Lady Hospital") is a major clinical hospital situated near Oosterpark in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Founded in 1898, it is now part of OLVG, a network of hospitals formed by the merger of the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis with the former Sint Lucas Andreas hospital, and is now known as OLVG, West Location.
