Toggenburg

Toggenburg is a region of Switzerland. It corresponds to the upper valley of the river Thur and that of its main tributary, the Necker. Since 1 January 2003, Toggenburg has been a constituency (Wahlkreis) of the canton of St. Gallen (SFOS number 1727).

It is an intermediate station on the Bodensee–Toggenburg railway, the southern terminus of the Wil–Ebnat-Kappel railway, and the eastern terminus of the Uznach–Wattwil railway (the latter includes the 8.6 kilometres (5.3 mi) long Ricken Tunnel). Wasserfluh Pass

Wasserfluh Pass (el. 848 m.) is a mountain pass in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It connects Lichtensteig and Brunnadern. The pass road has a maximum grade of 10 percent and an elevation gain of 345 m. Overlooking the pass are the ruins of Neu-Toggenburg castle (47.3296°N 9.1127°E / 47.3296; 9.1127), built by the counts of Toggenburg in the late 12th century (excavated 1937/8).

At a maximum altitude of 790 metres (2,590 ft), it connects the Linth valley and the Toggenburg.The pass is crossed by a road, which has a maximum gradient of 9%. The Ricken Tunnel, an 8.6 kilometres (5.3 mi) long rail tunnel, runs under the pass.
