Hohstock

The Oberaletsch Glacier (German: Oberaletschgletscher, meaning Upper Aletsch Glacier) is a valley glacier on the south side of the Bernese Alps, in the canton of Valais. It had a length of 9 km (5.6 mi) with an average width of just under 1 km (0.62 mi) and an area of about 22 km2 (8.5 sq mi) in 1973. The Oberaletsch Glacier system consists of two approximately equal arms. The eastern one takes its starting point on the south western flank of the Aletschhorn at around 3,700 m (12,100 ft), and joins the western arm (Beichgletscher) in the valley at the foot of the Nesthorn. Then the glacier flows to the south-east towards the Aletsch Glacier without reaching it. The glacier tongue ends at around 2,150 m (7,050 ft). During the Little Ice Age in the middle of the 19th century the glacier was part of the Aletsch Glacier. The Swiss Alpine Club Oberaletschhütte (2,640 m (8,660 ft)) is above the junction of the two glacier arms and has been accessible to hikers since 2005 with a new trail from Belalp.

The Sparrhorn (3,020 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located north of Belalp in the canton of Valais. It lies at the eastern end of the range located south of the Oberaletsch Glacier, west of the Aletsch Glacier. From Belalp a trail leads to its summit.

The Unterbächhorn is located in the Bernese Alps, southeast of the Nesthorn. The higher Northwest-Peak of the Unterbächhorn (3,620 m) lies on the ridge towards Nesthorn. The Southeast-Peak (3,554 m) is the highest summit overlooking Belalp in the canton of Valais. At its south-eastern flanks lies a glacier named Unnerbächgletscher.

Belalp is a village and ski resort in the Swiss canton of Valais, situated at approximately 2,100 metres (6,900 ft) above sea level in the municipality of Naters. Because of its altitude, Belalp is a vantage point offering views of the Dom and Fletschhorn mountains and other peaks of the Pennine and Lepontine Alps. Close to the village are the summits of Nesthorn, Hohstock and Sparrhorn mountains. Belalp is a car free village. It can be reached from Blatten bei Naters by cable car. With a length of 1,767 metres (5,797 ft), this rises 763 metres (2,503 ft) and can carry a maximum of 740 passengers per hour.

The Name Wysshorn stands for three subpeaks of the Schinhorn in the Bernese Alps, which are: Nördliches Wysshorn (3625 m); Mittleres Wysshorn (3545 m); Südliches Wysshorn (3482 m).

The Nesthorn is a mountain in the Bernese Alps. It is located in the Swiss canton of Valais north of Brig. The mountain lies between the Oberaletsch Glacier on the north and east side and the Gredetschtal on the south side. It is part of the subrange of the Bernese Alps that culminates at the Aletschhorn. The Nesthorn was first ascended from Belalp in 1865 by B. George and H. Mortimer, with Christian Almer and his son. Passing the base of the peak nearly to the head of the west branch of the Beich Firn (tributary of the Oberaletsch Glacier), they had on their left a steep iceslope, broken in five places by protruding masses of rock. Ascending the steep channel between the two masses nearest the Nesthorn they reached the ridge overlooking the Gredetschtal, turned to the left, and crossing a minor peak, and attained the summit in 6 hours, exclusive of halts.

The Gross Fusshorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the Oberaletsch Glacier in the canton of Valais. The Fusshörner are a group of peaks located on the south ridge of the Gross Fusshorn. On the east side lies a glacier named Driestgletscher.

The Rotstock (3,699 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the Aletsch Glacier in the Swiss canton of Valais. It lies on the range between the Oberaletsch Glacier and the Aletsch Glacier, south of the Geisshorn.

The Schinhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located west of the Aletschhorn in the canton of Valais. It lies between the valleys of Lötschental (north) and Oberaletsch (south). The Schinhorn has a northeastern Subpeak, the sharp ridge Distlighorn (3,716 m).

Stausee Gibidum (Gibidum reservoir or "Stausee Gebidem") is a reservoir in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. Its surface area is 0.21 km², shared by the municipalities of Naters and Riederalp. The construction of Gebidem dam was started in 1964 and completed by 1967. The arch dam has an elevation of 122 m and a crest length of 327 m.

The Geisshorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the Aletsch Glacier in the canton of Valais. Together with its Northeast-Summit Sattelhorn (3724 m), it appears as a Doublepeak. Northwest of the Sattelhorn, the slightly lower ridge of the Vorderes Geisshorn (3632 m) leads to the south-ridge of the Aletschhorn.
