Marsland Valley

Gooseham Mill is a hamlet in the parish of Morwenstow, Cornwall, England.The hamlet lies below Gooseham hamlet, in the Marsland valley. The county border with Devon follows Marsland Water through the valley, thus a few of the hamlet's buildings on the north side of the stream are in Devon.

Welcombe is a village and civil parish on the coast of north Devon, England, just north of the border with Cornwall. It is part of the district of Torridge. The population taken at the 2011 census was 187.It is easily reached from the A39 and has a popular beach called Welcombe Mouth, which is a challenge to get to. Its parish church is one of only four ancient dedications to Saint Nectan. Welcombe comprises several smaller communities including Welcombe Cross, Darracot, Upcott and Mead. There is a local pottery, pub, The Old Smithy Inn and village stores. There are two small campsites in the area and the South West Coast Path offers stunning views to Lundy.

Gooseham (Cornish: Pras an Woodh) is a hamlet in northeast Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated six miles (11 km) north of Bude and is approximately one kilometre south of the border with Devon. The Marsland Valley nature reserve is near the hamlet. It is in the civil parish of Morwenstow, and its size been described by a resident as consisting of just "two houses and a wood rick." Gooseham lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

St Nectan's Church is the parish church of Welcombe, on the border of Devon and Cornwall. W. G. Hoskins writes "St Nectan's Chapel was one of the many medieval chapels in the vast parish of Hartland. It lies in unspoiled country, altogether Cornish in appearance and feeling, with views down the combes to the Atlantic. Welcombe was raised to parochial status in 1508, when the church was enlarged by the addition of the north and south transepts. The square-headed screen (early 14th century) is of unique interest. It is, except for its cornice (which is later and much resembles that at Hartland) by far the earliest remaining screen in Devon. The lectern is Jacobean and the pulpit restored Tudor." The church was 'restored' in 1883-84 and a vestry added in 1911. The tower contains six bells, four cast in 1731. According to Nikolaus Pevsner the building is early medieval, including the low western tower. The pulpit has narrow early Renaissance panels. There is a holy well near the church.

Stursdon is a hamlet in the civil parish of Morwenstow, north-northwest of Kilkhampton in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom.

Killarney Springs was a leisure park situated near Bude in Cornwall. The park was established in 1990, and opened for the 1991 summer season. The park had an indoor adventure play centre, a boating lake, a tobogganing slope, go karts, bumper boats and an assault course. In 2005, a new range of attractions were brought to the park with the 'Family Fun Fair', which featured a log flume, a rollercoaster and bumper cars. The park closed after its 2006 season because of breaches of its planning permission. The recent additions of a roller coaster and log flume were not approved by North Cornwall District Council. Since the parks closure it has been derelict with some parts of the site being demolished. The land has since been granted planning permission for a large Huf Haus development.

Morwenstow (Cornish: Logmorwenna) is a civil parish in north Cornwall, UK. The parish abuts the west coast, about six miles (10 km) north of Bude and within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Morwenstow is the most northerly parish in Cornwall. As well as the churchtown (a hamlet called Crosstown), other settlements in the parish include Shop, Woodford, Gooseham, Eastcott, Woolley and West Youlstone. The population at the 2011 census was 791. Morwenstow parish is bounded to the north and east by parishes in Devon, to the south by Kilkhampton parish and to the west by the Atlantic. The River Tamar has its source at a spring on Woolley Moor, at 50.9235°N 4.4622°W / 50.9235; -4.4622, which is in the parish near the border with Devon. Morwenstow is the one-time home of the eccentric vicar and poet Robert Stephen Hawker (1803–1875), the writer of Cornwall's anthem Trelawny. Hawker is also credited with reviving the custom of Harvest Festivals.

The Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist is the parish church of Morwenstow, north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, the most northerly parish in Cornwall. The church is dedicated to Morwenna, a local saint, and to John the Baptist, and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Truro, the archdeaconry of Bodmin, and the deanery of Stratton. Its benefice is combined with that of St James, Kilkhampton to form the United Benefice of Kilkhampton with Morwenstow.From 1835 to 1874 the vicar of the parish was Rev. R. S. Hawker, poet and antiquary who is credited with creating the modern form of the harvest festival church service to give thanks for a good harvest in 1842. It stands in a remote position near cliffs on the north coast of Cornwall. Amongst the tombs and gravestones in the churchyard is the preserved figurehead from a ship which was wrecked nearby.The Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist is the most northerly church (and parish) in Cornwall.
