Westerpark (park)

On 21 April 2012 at 18:30 local time (16:30 UTC), two trains were involved in a head-on collision at Westerpark, near Sloterdijk, in the west of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Approximately 117 people were injured, one of whom later died in hospital. The collision is thought to have been caused by the driver of one of the trains passing a red signal.

Westerpark is a former borough (stadsdeel) just northwest of the centre of the city of Amsterdam, Netherlands. As a borough it existed from 1990 till 2010, when it merged with the boroughs Oud-West, Bos en Lommer and De Baarsjes to form the new borough Amsterdam-West. The Singelgracht is the waterway that borders the entire Amsterdam Center and flows along the Nassaukade, Stadhouderskade and Mauritskade. Formerly the canal and the ramparts on the city side formed the outer defenses of the city.

Staatsliedenbuurt (Amsterdam) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Het Schip (The Ship) is a building complex in the Spaarndammerbuurt neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The complex in the architectural style of the Amsterdam School was designed by Michel de Klerk in 1919. It originally contained 102 homes (now 82) for the working class, a small meeting hall, a post office, and an elementary school. Since 2001, the former school and post office are used as a museum about the Amsterdam School.

The Zeeheldenbuurt is a neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Located in the borough Amsterdam-West, it borders directly on the Westelijke Eilanden to the west. It lies between the Westerkanaal and the Westerdok; to the north is Houthaven and the IJ. The neighbourhood is served by the S100 road, and is sometimes confused with the nearby Admiralenbuurt.

The Westergasfabriek is a former gasworks in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, now used as a cultural venue.

The Palmgracht (Palm Canal) is a street and former canal in the Jordaan neighborhood of the Centrum district of Amsterdam.

Frederik Hendrikplantsoen is a park in Amsterdam West, on the edge of the Jordaan in one of the greenest historic neighbourhoods of Amsterdam. The park is located in the Frederik Hendrikbuurt Neighbourhood and has recently undergone extensive investment and redevelopment in consultation with the local community. It is notable for its sculpture group 'De Stam' or 'The Tribe' by Atelier van Lieshout.

The Goudsbloemgracht (Marigold Canal) was a street and former canal in Amsterdam, in the Jordaan neighborhood of the Centrum district. After the canal was backfilled in 1857 the street was renamed Willemsstraat.

As a continuation of the existing warehouses in the center of Amsterdam, around 1900 several new warehouses were built near the IJ bay. Most of these warehouses were converted into apartments at the end of 20th century.
