Bert Adams Scout Camp is a long-term overnight camp owned and operated by the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Bert Adams is located south of Covington, Georgia, situated on Lake Bulow Campbell; the camp is one of three major BSA summer camps in the Atlanta Area Council. The camp is named after Albert S. "Bert" Adams, a "beloved leader in the city of Atlanta", and the president of what was then called the "Atlanta Council of the Boy Scouts", during the 1920s.Bert Adams has consistently been listed as one of the best scout camps in the United States by Boys Life and Scouting Magazines.

Lake Bulow Campbell is an artificial reservoir, 9.1 miles south of Covington, Georgia, United States. The lake is the primary body of water for BSA Atlanta Area Council's Bert Adams Scout Reservation. The stoppage of the flow of water that creates the reservoir is created by Bert Adams Dam. The lake provides a space for swimming, kayaking, small boat sailing, and canoeing for those staying at the camp. The lake's surrounding woods also provide many hiking trails that are available to both campers and non-camper visitors. The lake is also home to several species of freshwater fish and aquatic fauna, and hosts a large amount of fishing on a catch-and-release basis.

Dried Indian Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a tributary to the Yellow River.According to tradition, Dried Indian Creek was named from an incident when the dried-up corpse of an Indian was discovered near its course.

Snapping Shoals Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a tributary to the South River. Some say Snapping Shoals Creek was so named for fish which could be easily caught or "snapped" at a shoal, while others believe the swift river current caused this name to be selected. Variant names are "Shoals Creek" and "Snapping Shoal Creek".

Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center is a nature preserve located near Mansfield, Georgia, United States. Named after Charles Newton Elliott (1906–2000), the nature preserve has 6,400 acres (26 km2) of forests, lakes, and fields, which are managed by Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The Wildlife Center includes Marben Public Fishing area, the Charlie Elliott Conference Center and Banquet Hall, Visitors' Center and Museum, and Clybel Wildlife Management Area.

The Alcovy River (pronunciation: al-CO-vee) is a 69-mile-long (111 km) tributary of the Ocmulgee River in north-central Georgia in the United States. It is part of the watershed of the Altamaha River, which flows to the Atlantic Ocean.

Porterdale is a town in Newton County, Georgia, the United States. The population was 1,429 at the 2010 census.

The Porterdale Historic District in Porterdale, Georgia is a 525 acres (212 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Its area is roughly the city limits of Porterdale north of Elm St., and it includes Colonial Revival, Late Gothic Revival, and other architecture. In 2001 it included 496 contributing buildings and eight contributing structures. It also included 37 non-contributing buildings and a non-contributing object.It includes three mill complexes and mill worker housing.It includes: Porterdale Mill (1899), built on the north bank of the Yellow River (Yellow River (Georgia)?), a three-story brick building stretching about 800 feet (240 m) along the river, with a four-story tower (see photos #3-#8 accompanying the NRHP nomination document) Welaunee Mill (c.1920), on south bank of the Yellow River, a two-story brick mill with a three-story tower (see photo #1). Osprey Mill (1916), the largest of the three mills, covering two square blocks in the center of town (see photos 35, 36, 37, 41)Other properties in the district include: Porter Memorial Gymnasium, 2201 Main St, Porterdale, Georgia (1938), designed by architect Ellamae Ellis League. Damaged by fire in October 2005, it was converted in an adaptive reuse to become an outdoor event center, winning a Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation award. Dixie is an unincorporated community in Newton County, Georgia, United States, on Georgia State Route 142 5.4 miles (8.7 km) east-southeast of Covington. The community was named after Dixie, a nickname for the southeastern United States.
