Medbourne railway station

Medbourne is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district, in the county of Leicestershire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 473.Each year it competes with nearby Hallaton during the Bottle-kicking event on Easter Monday. It is believed that Medbourne, which lay on the Gartree Road, was a large market settlement at the time of Roman Britain.

St Giles' Church, Blaston was rebuilt in 1878. Blaston was first mentioned in Domesday Book and the name probably means the settlement of Bleath (an Anglo-Saxon).

It now (after 1974) forms part of the non-metropolitan district of Harborough.

Hallaton railway station was a former railway station serving the village of Hallaton, Leicestershire, on the Great Northern and London and North Western Joint Railway. The station was located about a quarter of a mile east of the village on the road to Horninghold. The station opened in 1879 and closed to regular traffic in 1953. The Leicester to Peterborough service was withdrawn in 1916. To the south-west was Welham Junction.

Horninghold is a small village and parish seven miles north-east of Market Harborough in the county of Leicestershire. The population of the civil parish (including Allexton and Stockerston) was 278 at the 2021 census. The village's name means 'wood belonging to the people of Horning'. Following the Norman Conquest in 1066 the village was given to Robert de Todeni, Lord of Belvoir. In about 1076 he gave the parish to Belvoir Priory where it remained until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the estate owners, the Hardcastle family remodelled the village as a garden village with many trees and shrubs. The church of St Peter is a Grade II* listed building. It was built in the 12th century and is a surviving example of a Church of England parish church without Victorian restoration.

St Michael's church, Hallaton is a parish church in the town of Hallaton, Leicestershire. It is a Grade I listed building.It is a Norman style church, which dates from the thirteenth century. It has a north porch, built later in the fifteenth century and some of the original timbers still exist today. The church is dedicated to St Michael and is mainly of the 13th century: the aisles were added a century later. The church is sited on rising ground and has a dignified tower with a fine broach spire (one of the best in the county); the nave and chancel and aisles have nobility and beauty. The sculptured stonework of the north aisle contrasts with the plain battlemented south aisle. A former rector is commemorated by a handsome monument attached to one of the corners.

The parish includes the deserted village of Othorpe at grid reference SP770956. Slawston is located roughly 1 km away from Medbourne.

Ashley is a village and civil parish in the North Northamptonshire, England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Market Harborough, Leicestershire and 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Corby. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 224. The village is near the River Welland, which forms the border with Leicestershire. The Roman road called Via Devana in the part from Ratae (now Leicester) to Duroliponte (now Cambridge) ran just north of the village. The village's name means 'ash-tree wood/clearing'.
