Tingley Coliseum

The New Mexico State Fair is an annual state fair held in September at Expo New Mexico (formerly the New Mexico State Fairgrounds) in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. The event features concerts, competitions, rodeos, carnival rides, games, farm animals, horses, agriculture, art of the American Southwest, New Mexican cuisine, and New Mexico music. The Tingley Coliseum is on the fairgrounds.

Bowlin Travel Centers, Inc. is a New Mexico-based family owned company that operates a chain of roadside convenience stores and travel centers found on highways in the American southwest. The stores are located primarily in the U.S. states of Arizona and New Mexico; their corporate headquarters are located in Albuquerque. The company's Chief Executive Officer is Michael L. Bowlin. The stores are located along highways in New Mexico and offer additional amenities such as food from restaurant chains such as Subway, and Dairy Queen.

The International District is a neighborhood in southeast Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is centered on Central Avenue, the historic alignment of U.S. Route 66, and contains the New Mexico State Fairgrounds. The community is one of the most diverse areas of the city and is home to a large number of international restaurants and grocery stores, as well as the city's "Little Saigon" Vietnamese enclave. It is also one of the poorest areas in the city and has an extremely high violent crime rate. Although re-branded by city officials as the International District in 2009, Albuquerque residents continue to refer to the neighborhood by its longtime nickname, the "War Zone."

The La Mesa Motel was a historic motel on Central Avenue (former U.S. Route 66) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which was notable as one of the best-preserved prewar Route 66 motels remaining in the city. It was built in 1938 and was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The building was demolished in March, 2003, and replaced with a larger two-story motel.The motel was a linear, one-story building with 14 rooms. All of the rooms except the northernmost unit faced east toward the parking lot, while the final unit extended east from the main block and faced south. The design featured modest Pueblo Revival elements, including vigas, slightly curved parapets, small porches supported by corbeled wooden posts, and a battered chimney. The office and manager's residence were at the front of the building; the office was probably a later addition.

The Tewa Lodge is a historic motel on Central Avenue (former U.S. Route 66) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is notable as one of the best-preserved Route 66 era motels remaining in the city, and one of the few still operating as a motel. It was built in 1946 and was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.The motel consists of two buildings separated by a parking lot. The western building is one story and contains a single row of rooms opening onto the interior parking area. The eastern building has two rows of rooms back-to-back, with parking on either side, and has a two-story section at the front containing the office on the ground floor and manager's residence above. The building exemplifies Pueblo Revival architecture, with battered and buttressed stuccoed walls simulating adobe, flat roofs, and faux vigas. The motel has mostly original metal casement windows set in arched openings with wooden lintels. The design originally incorporated covered parking spaces between each pair of rooms, but these were later filled in to create additional rooms.

Bank of the West Tower is a highrise office building in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is located on Central Avenue some 3.5 mi (5.6 km) east of Downtown. At 64.9 m (213 ft), the 17-story tower was the tallest building in New Mexico when completed in 1963. It is now the fifth tallest building in the state, and the tallest outside of Downtown Albuquerque. The building was developed by the Del Webb Corporation and designed by the architectural firm of Flatow, Moore, Bryan, and Fairburn. For most of its history the tower housed a succession of bank branches.

The Solar Building, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was the world's first commercial building to be heated primarily by solar energy. It was built in 1956 to house the engineering firm of Bridgers & Paxton, who were responsible for the heating system design. The novel building received widespread attention, with articles in national publications like Life and Popular Mechanics, and was the subject of a National Science Foundation-funded research project in the 1970s. It was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, only 33 years after it was built.

Winrock Town Center is an open-air mixed-use development under construction in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. The center is anchored by two Dillard's locations and a Regal 16-screen IMAX and RPX Theatre. The town center is located on the site of the original Winrock Shopping Center, which opened in 1961 as the first regional shopping mall in New Mexico.

Bataan Military Academy was a tuition-free, co-ed, college-prep public day high school. All cadets were members of the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Corps, the U.S. Navy's youth organization. Bataan opened at the beginning of the 2007–2008 school year with freshmen and sophomores. The school closed at the end of the 2015–2016 school year due to declining enrollment. The academy was named to commemorate the soldiers and sailors who surrendered to Japanese forces on Luzon in 1942. During a forced removal to a POW camp, some 70,000 of these American and Philippine soldiers died during what later became known as the Bataan Death March. In remembrance of these brave men, many of whom were from New Mexico's 200th Coastal Artillery, BMA Cadets participate in the annual 26 mile Bataan Death March Memorial Marathon held at the U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Highland High School is a public high school located in southeast Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. It is part of the Albuquerque Public Schools District. The school's mascot is Herbie the Hornet, named after a naval ship, the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. This led to the school colors of navy blue and gold. The United States Navy also conducts a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps as an elective in the curriculum.

ABQ Uptown is an outdoor luxury shopping mall owned by Simon Property Group in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is one of four malls located in the Albuquerque area, and houses 51 different stores. Its anchor tenants include J.Crew, The North Face, and Lush, as well as the only Apple Store in New Mexico. The outdoor environment of this mall includes music, lights and seasonal decorations.

Griff's Hamburgers, or Griff's Burger Bar, is a regional fast food chain founded in 1960 by Griff's of America, Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri, United States. At one time they had locations nationwide with the majority in the South near highway exits.Griff's was named for the founder, HJ Griffith.The restaurant buildings were of a patented A-frame design, produced by Valentine Diner of Wichita, Kansas. Later restaurants sported more conventional architecture. A bright yellow sign read HAMBURGERS in big block capitals. The restaurants offered both drive-thrus and patio dining.Most of the stores were located in high traffic locations, such as near a highway off-ramp, or along Route 66. There was one on the corner of Caruthers and Independence in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in the 1960s, catty corner from old Central High School. Cory Griffin Great Grandson of Griffs Founder Harold Griffith Relocated the Corporate headquarters for Griff's and change its name to now Griffs of America based in Dallas, Texas, and stores remain open in Bossier City, Ruston and Shreveport, Louisiana; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Dallas, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Garland, Irving, Mesquite, and San Antonio, Texas. A location in Sedalia, Missouri closed in late 2011, and locations in Colorado closed in 2015.[1] The restaurant chain was featured in multiple installments of the Zippy the Pinhead comic strip; on November 15, 2004, February 10, 2005 December 19, 2006, and September 2, 2007.
